To me, all characters are aroace until proven otherwise. They never explicitly, with words, bring up being attracted to a character or kiss someone onscreen? It's a bit of a stretch to assume they're allo, then, isn't it?

Actually... no. That's not enough anymore. All characters are aroace EVEN WHEN proven otherwise now. They have an unambiguous crush on another character? Lots of aroace people convince themselves they have crushes. Actively horny? Aces can have high libido. Onscreen kiss? They're just experimenting, doesn't mean anything. Could be gray maybe. Gets married and has kids? Comphet. They're confused, haven't figured themself out yet. This marriage can still be a QPR

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE IT’S MY ONE DAY OF THE YEAR WHERE I GET TO BE EXTRA ANNOYING ABOUT THIS!!! it’s my baby’s 6th birthday today!! you should read her!!! also look at quishmael. aren’t they sweeties . i miss them (<-is actively drawing them and posting pages of them)

incidentally, i also have decided that today/ april 24th shall also be fedallah’s birthday. in accordance with me deciding that ishmael’s birthday is herman melville’s (august 1st) since he’s half melville’s self insert, and queequeg’s is the book’s publication date (october 18th) since that’s the day he technically came into the world, fedallah’s birthday is now the birthday of the comic too, aka the birth of this version of him (the better, non racist, actually a character, with my backstory for him, version). i also had already known id wanted his birthday to be in the spring which is perfect for this. so. happy birthday fedallah too 💖💖💖🌸🌸🌸

it's been a bit since you've posted about moby dick, but i am curious! do you have any thoughts on fedallah?

Hello! Oh yeah, gosh I miss the 4-6 months when I was rabidly obsessed with Moby Dick :') I still love it (getting a tattoo of it this month actually!) but I haven't done any art for it

Fedallah, I love the man! I'm firmly of the belief that he is just a man, and not actually the personification of evil like he's implied to be in the book. I like to believe that most the characters in the book are batsh*t insane, so Stubb and Ahab and everyone out there thinking he's the devil are actually just being racist and easily swept up in problematic panicked thinking. In my mind/shady memory, he's the straight-man who's just doing his job, meanwhile Ahab is out there assuming everything he says is a deep prophecy- that only comes true because Ahab manifested it through the power of being a lunatic.
