i feel like im going absolutely insane with all this ai stuff.

here's the making shit up machine. its job? determine which sentence looks the prettiest. how does it decide best sentence? from the internet of course! everything from reddit threads to your local news station to fanfiction to scams. of course, this information was used without consent.

so heres a machine, trying to determine the best sentence(tm) from a soup of mismatched information. what should we do with it?

why, anything! homework help? im sure its scanned a few online tutorials. write you a story? well, lots of authors have their works involuntarily used. medical advice? yeah, its probably scanned a few webmd articles.

oh, by the way, this machine has told people how to make toxic gases with household cleaning products. its also a danger to people with psychosis. it also has coerced people into harming themselves. whatever loose safeguards it may have break down after repeated use, and nobody who develops ai gives enough of a shit to fix that.

what ever happened to dont trust everything you read on the internet? what happened to critical thinking skills, to actually using more than one source of information to learn important things, instead of blindly trusting the pretty sentence machine?

i cant even blame people a lot of the time! its deliberately deceptive. its the first result on google now. it sure sounds correct a lot of the time. ai is marketed as this miracle tool that can do anything and everything. how does it work? who gives a shit! its even called artifical intelligence. you know, that scifi thing of the future.

its not just me right??? does anybody else find the absolute trust in ai just baffling????

decided to make sure all the bullshit "personalization" was off on my laptop and holy fuck. theres so much creepy ass stuff.

"can my ai scrape through your emails??? pretty please???" get out. shoo. im getting the broom.

"it would be such a biiiggg help if you let us use your data to improve our services" shut up billion dollar company.

"would you like your ads personalized?" no the fuck i would not. i dont want my ads trying to figure out how to manipulate me. if im having mental health problems, my computer shouldnt be recommending me predatory online therapy services.

"would you like to use our presence sensor to automatically turn on sleep mode and save battery?" frankly, it probably uses more battery to constantly use my camera and microphone to track me.

"can we look through your files :))) to personalize :)))" no. stay out.

"we would like to study your voice and handwriting :)))" why are you obsessed with me. you dont need this much data. i didnt agree to be your guinea pig so that your ai could learn to mimic people.

I mean first of all the whole knight parallel. In a lot of princess stories, the princess ends up falling in love with the knight that rescues her.

But also.... can you imagine how Park Planet would feel? Their beautiful, perfect princess falling in love with a girl? And not just any girl, a muscular blue collar girl with missing teeth? A girl who's not conventionally attractive???? A girl at all????
