Elisabeth 1993 - Newspapers & Show Summary
piasisi specifically because this was supposed to be for her birthday unfortunately i didn't finish it in time 😔
Now, so many years on [from the first production in 1992], you’re playing, shall we say, the older version [of Elisabeth]. Yes, previously I played both the younger and the older versions, but that was when I was younger. Now that I'm older, I'm bringing the experience that comes with age to playing the older version. When you first played the role so long ago, in what ways did you relate to Elisabeth back then? I really related to her fears, to her loneliness, and to the girl inside her who was a bit of a rebel but who was also somewhat depressed. She was manic-depressive and had a penchant for melancholy and seriousness. She also wrote weighty poems and I recognised that in myself as well – I used to be more heavy-handed in a sense, I think. I'm less serious now now, I have more of a sense of humour and more of an ability to make fun of myself. And now I also think that, as she got older, Elisabeth had to make choices for herself and for her self-preservation. –Volle Zalen (6.March 2025)
