Sun Lander is the ridiculously beautiful and spacey new solo project by Love Hate Rebellion frontman Jimmy. In a very short period, Sun Lander has built a name for epic, haunting songs which have the ability to get stuck in your head for hours after one listen. Check out these couple of songs from a recent show for an example. Filmed live @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane, Australia on the 21st January 2016.
Dave Is A Spy proving why they’re one of the more entertaining indie bands kicking around Brisbane currently. Awesome catchy songs, strong vocals, awesome grooves and amusing lyrics. It’s everything you want from a band which is trying to put a smile on your face with good feels rather than the usual angst and sadness that you see from this scenes music. Filmed live @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane, Australia on the 21st January 2016.
Holy sweet fucking jesus Captain Cake killed it at his last show before hiatus. I’m still speechless after this show. It’s easily one of the most amusing sets I’ve sat through (and I generally can’t handle hip-hop or whatever). Danny is a Andy Kaufman-esque musician/comedian, there really aren’t any words to describe his performance properly. So definitely watch the video and make your own thoughts. One highlight of this show was definitely the entire crowd’s impromptu rendition of the macarena (at the end of the video above. It was so fucking surreal. My mind was blown and I fucking knew what to expect. God damnit Captain Cake you champion. It’s sad that The Cake won’t be back on stage for a year or so, but that just makes his inevitable return all the more glorious. Filmed live @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane on the 21st January 2016.
Seismic Toss bringing the heavy to EarCandy #11 Seismic Toss did their regular heavy-as-fuck thing at EarCandy #11. The combination of metal, blues & stoner which these guys bring is always a crowd favourite and is always guaranteed to get people moving. They only play sporadically, so if you get the chance to see Seismic Toss in action - MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT! Filmed live at EarCandy #11, held @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane on the 31st December 2015.
Amazing indie rock by Dave Is A Spy on NYE EarCandy! The combination of amusing lyrics, big catchy hooks and up tempo grooves make Dave Is A Spy one of the more entertaining live bands kicking around Brisbane currently. Definitely make sure you check out one of their upcoming shows and send them some facebook love! Filmed live at EarCandy #11, held @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane on the 31st December 2015.
Concrete Lips debut EarCandy set! One of the younger bands currently on the scene, Concrete Lips continue to grow and refine their sound and performance. Every time I see these guys play a show, it seems to be a tonne better than the last time (that’s not to say the previous times were shit, they were pretty rad!). These guys are definitely a band to keep your eyes on, if their song writing and performance keeps improving at the rate it is, they’ll be insanely good in 12-18 months time. Filmed live at EarCandy #11, held @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane on the 31st December 2015.
The endlessly entertaining Trigger Warning doing their thing at EarCandy #11. Trigger Warning are an amazing combination of punk & grunge stylings. Between their vicious set of songs, front person Ecks keeps the crowd amused with various unique and funny-as-hell quips and crowd interactions. I’m pretty baked at the moment, so just watch the damn video rather then go by my description. You’ll love them. Make sure you catch them at one of their upcoming shows & send them some facebook love. Filmed live at EarCandy #11, held @ The New Globe Theatre, Brisbane on the 31st December 2015.

Whiskey & Speed’s first show back at EarCandy after their lengthy break was insane! The guys picked up exactly where they left off with Dayne quickly reminding everybody how he’s one of the best frontman in the Australian scene. The audience was riled into a frenzy from the moment the show started to the very end. As a side note, drummer Mick played this show with a legit broken leg. Rock n’ roll. Filmed live by The Teeth Pit @ EarCandy #11 held at the New Globe Theatre, Brisbane, Australia on the 31st December 2015.
FriendlyFire killing it at their first EarCandy!! A flashback to Baron Samedi’s first release ‘Sven the Storm Riding Bad Arse From Out of Space’. Around the time that this was released, my band at the time had been playing a tonne of shows with these guys. It was this release and that period of time where I really fell in love with Baron Samedi’s music. Every song has a multitude of awesome memories attached to them and every song is fucking on-point. This release is the perfect definition of the Baron Samedi made-up genre name “Skrunge”, that is dirty as fuck old school ska & punk smashed together with the dirty groove only grunge can provide. Check it out!
Whiskey & Speed’s 2nd full length release “The New Dumb Idea” is the punk-grunge infusion you never knew you needed. Released a couple of years ago now, Brisbane’s craziest punks Whiskey & Speed’s “The New Dumb Idea” still holds up under scrutiny and repeated listens. From the grunge-sludge laden anthem ‘Braindead’, to the power-punk madness of their cover of the Powerpuff Girls theme song!! Basically every area of the dirty part of the alternative spectrum is covered and covered well. If you like big riffs, catchy as fuck choruses and punk vibes to spare, you’ll want to check this out. Whiskey & Speed have just had a little 5-6 month Hiatus as their guitarist Ben has been globe-trotting, keep and eye out for their first show back. You know it’ll be insane.
Forward Beast’s EP ‘Sick of Tired’ is a couple of years old now, but it’s still as great as it was then. I’ve been gigging on lineups with Forward Beast a fair bit lately, this got me thinking about their debut EP which they released a couple of years ago now. 4 songs of balls-out, up-tempo, grunge and alternative goodness await anyone who checks this out. It’s a bit of a bummer that we’re still waiting for them to release something new, but by going by their current live-set, it’ll definitely be worth the wait. My favourites on this one are the first two tracks “Should Have Known Better” & “Acid Cop”. Fans of Supergrass, Nirvana or the Foo Fighters definitely should have a look in. I’d probably describe their sound as early Supergrass in the midst of a fuzz-binge.
Kombi Killers bringing the hardcore punk tunes to the booze stage at EarCandy #10. Noisy as fuck, angry as fuck & ballsy as hell. Basically sums up the Sunshine Coast’s Kombi Killers nicely. Filmed live @ EarCandy #10, held at the New Globe Theatre, Brisbane, Australia on the 17th October 2015.
