I mean, I guess if you want to give your energy to the forces of chaos and entropy that seek (if those forces seek anything) to destroy everything and everyone that's your prerogative, but uhhh... *squeaks angrily and burrows back into into the dirt*

Here are some pics from the process of painting a behdety, or winged sun, on my jacket from a while ago.

Blah blah blah under the cut

I had at first gotten fabric paints, but they were for kids and looked a little too popsicle-like for my liking. I ended up mixing fabric softener into acrylics for the richer shades I ended up adding. The denim grain made a lot of layers necessary, which was a pain, especially for the details, but worth it in my opinion.

For the feathers, I tried to pick a dark teal, evocative of faience, and the lighter blue, close to this "Egyptian blue" I heard about, but I haven't fact-checked if it was a specific shade they mixed. Gold is always a pain to work with but so extra, also worth it. Hopefully the protective spray I got won't destroy the flexibility of the jacket, so I don't have to worry about any of it coming off. Everything else I referenced with pictures, and it was hard to tell what colours some ageing paintings were supposed to be, especially because I have no expertise in Egyptology.

Tbh I have no idea where I'm going to wear this. I wanted to paint protective stuff on it since it's kind of my emotional support denim, and I'm a Kemetic pagan, but it's become clear to me this is extravagant and intimidating. I just felt so strongly that a behdety had to go there. It just 👌it just fits. But I was like, hey maybe some ancient painters would dig this energy.

The big section on the back has been devoted to a pectoral belonging to Tutankhamun, and there's more from a fresco (I think) underneath it that I'm still working on, so maybe I'll post those sometime. It's mostly taken so long because I've been procrastinating.

The first image is of a statue from around 3500-3400 BC during the Naqada Period. There are holes in its head and rear where ears and a tail were probably inserted, but they're gone now.

A few days ago one of my closest friends passed away. He was a devotee of Anpu, so this is for him. I hope he’s happy in the Duat.
