Hello there! My name is Ava!
My main interest right now is ancient Egypt, specifically the ancient Egyptian religion. I’m also likely to post about what I’d guess you’d call “classic horror literature” (Lovecraft, Frankenstein, Dracula, a lot of stuff by Arthur Machen, etc) along with other, more minor interests.
Currently, I speak two languages: English and Middle Egyptian (that means ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, 𓏇𓇋𓇒). Despite speaking Egyptian, I am not an egyptologist. I started studying Middle Egyptian independently when I was 17, because... well, it’s a long story, but basically because I really wanted to read forbidden Egyptian god yaoi that renowned founding father of egyptology Sir Flinders Petrie was hiding from me. (If you would like to study Middle Egyptian on your own time, Middle Egyptian Grammar by James E Hoch is a fine place to start, you’ll learn how to write basic sentences almost right away.)
While becoming an egyptologist is a possibility for me in the future, I am not one right now, so even though I’m very passionate about this you should not give what I say the same weight as you would to someone who’s done enough studying for a PHD.
Anyway!, I think that trans people are cool and valid. I don’t care what labels LGBTQ+ people use for themselves as long as it feels good to them. I don’t think there’s any such thing as a disability that makes people evil. People with NPD and other frequently demonized disorders are so cool and awesome actually.
I try to be very diligent in putting content warnings on my posts, but there might be things I miss. If there’s something you would appreciate me putting a warning for in my posts, then please tell me. Send me an anonymous ask or something, I promise I would never get mad at someone for reaching out!
#Ava has thoughts is the tag for my personal thoughts and ramblings (basically for all my original posts)
#Ava makes art is the tag I use for all my drawings and stuff
#Ava answers asks is the tag I use for when I answer asks
#Ava writing momence is the tag I use specifically for whatever random thoughts I have about/when I’m writing
#Ancient egypt stuff is the tag I use for all my Egyptian mythology/Ancient Egyptian history posts, as I consider them all a part of one interest. I also tag posts about the god Set with Sutekh because it’s a much more distinct name than Set or Seth.
I hope anyone who looks through my blog has a good day!
