I don't know if I have any active followers left, but here goes. I didn't end up converting to Catholicism. I am still very involved in my church. I have been working away for the past couple years in a new job, just got a promotion that is moving my family and I to Richmond, Virginia. I have a son now. Life is strange and beautiful. Orate pro mihi.

This feels weird to do but...

I'm asking more and more questions about Catholicism. I barely use this hellsite anymore but some of the people I follow on here are Catholic and I've always had an interest in the historic Church, probably because my dad was a professor of Church History for a number of years. Full story under the cut.

So I'm super involved in my local (Protestant) church. I serve in the youth ministry, am speaking at the men's breakfast this weekend, the whole 9 yards. But the more I look at what the Catholic Church teaches the less objections I have. Like 5 years ago I wouldn't say anything was a sacrament. Now I think that there may be something more to the Eucharist than just bread and wine and baptism is more than just some water, etc. etc. But I'm married and my whole circle of relationships are in my current church. I have everything to lose from saying I am even looking into Catholicism. I'm scared, I think that is the bottom line and I need prayer. Orate pro mihi and all that.

Was anyone going to tell me this Christian maiden was thrown to a brothel for her confession of faith and refusal of marriage but the first guy that burst into the door was a soldier who believed and who disguised her in his uniform so she could get out then was taken to be martyred himself and when he got there was met by the maiden who refused to let him be martyred alone, or was I just supposed to read a reference to it in a medieval text on friendship and follow the footnotes to another medieval text which records it as a well-known tale to use it as an example of courageous virgin martyrs myself?
