I bought it many many months ago now and only just remembered...
Tonight is going to be fun.
Game App Review: WotF Part 2
Okay, so I know I said I'd be giving a more in depth look into this game, but to be honest... It never really peaked my interest.Ā The concept behind it was pretty good - a CCG with questing etc. - but I was expecting a little more after playing Ayakashi.Ā
Now maybe it's because I played the app on an Android phone, but it felt very laggy (yes I realise that isn't a word, there's just no other way to say it). The UI wasn't smooth as you'd expect from these sort of games, but I guess that could be because it's a freemium game; people are more interested in the new cards they can buy instead of the game play.Ā
Like Ayakashi, you could go back and defeat areas to get bonuses, but WotF felt a bit boring really. Maybe this is the reason I stopped playing it, or maybe it was the lack of time I have in my day to day life (I'm currently writing this on my break at work), but this game felt like a little bit of a let down compared to Zynga's first CCG.Ā
If you're reading this and are thinking;Ā "But I like this game", then good for you.. Honestly I'm happy that you enjoy it and I hope you keep enjoying it, but all this game did for me is make me switch apps and play Zelda.
Maybe, just maybe, I will try to play this game again on the weekend, but for now I must bid it adieu.

Game App Review: War of the Fallen
For this weeks App review, I've decided to check out Zynga's newest card battling game; "War of the Fallen".Ā I have only had very limited time to check the game out so far, and as such, this review will come in two parts.Ā
- War of the Fallen
Those of you familiar with Zynga games will know how addictive and often time consuming these games can be, offering the player lots of small achievements to keep them playing, such as offering rare items.
This game so far is no different. Much like Ayakashi Ghost Guild, WotF allows players to quest, battle, and obtain new and often better cards as they progress through the story. Certain items can be found which when combined give the player new rewards.
When you begin playing, there is the choice of three kingdoms to choose from; Corrupted, Iron Legion, or Dark Star - each of which have very different backgrounds and powers. Corrupted seem to be the demons of the land, the Iron Legion is the military-style kingdom, and Dark Star are the magic wielders. (I chose to play as the Iron Legion, purely based on my RPG play style, and the graphics of the cards.)
Cards can be improved (similar to Ayakashi), with a max level of 160, via a Strengthen/Evolution system that requires sacrificing other cards. You can edit your deck to customize your play style, and receive bonuses to attack or defence, which can drastically improve your odds of winning against an NPC or player deck.
- Ayakashi Ghost Guild: Zynga's first card battle app.
The difference between this game and Ayakashi is that you actually get to either join or make a guild, with benefits that can boost your damage in battle. This new social aspect really brings the game together in a nice way, and even though Ayakashi had teammates of sorts (mostly just to get extra ability points), this new system has real potential.Ā
Although, like with most Zynga apps, WotF comes with a payed services feature which could Ā (and possibly will) make the free to play users lack when it comes to getting the most of the game, or achieving a high place on the leaderboards.
Next time on the Game App Review, I'll go through my opinions and critiques on the game, as I play through the story as much as possible to capture all of WotF's features.Ā
Thanks for reading!

So here we are again...
It's been over a year since I've blogged about my gaming experience, and now I begin a new stage of my pilgrimage.
Last year, I teamed up with a fellow gamer to write articles (but mostly game) for a similar blog. Unfortunately that blog is no more than another link lost amid the treacherous sea of information that is Google. But now, as winter sets in here in Australia, I plan to reignite the flame and get back to my passion that is gaming.
Over the coming weeks, I'll be looking back at my gaming history and how my tastes and gaming desires evolved. I plan to cover as many genres as possible, and hope that you follow me along on the ride that is my personal gaming pilgrimage.
