Picnic for One

I have a confession to make.

From time to time, I myself crave our own brownie recipe. 

There are situations when mom doesn’t allow me to bake cos she says the ingredients are for customers’ orders. But on this particular day I got my brownie fix. When you brought with you your favorite snack, it’s no problem going on a picnic solo. Am I right? 😉

White N’ Windy

Hi!

It's been 9 months since my last post in 2018. In the blogging world, this is like my 5th comeback. In life, my 100th. But based on my great number of setbacks, probably more than that. Haha!

For months, which seems like both an eternity and a snap of a moment, I was wasting time. This I admit. 

I was in way over my head for so long. I was either anxious or apathetic; oversleeping or lacking sleep. Things like that.

For all the second chances I've been given--I don't deserve yet been gifted with--I'm thankful. Truly.

At present, I've started reading real books/ebooks (business, history, poetry, a few biographies, etc.) and not just those crazy romance novels lol. There's also Dairy Diaries, the Spanish lessons I try to study daily, and a renewed sense of hope...

If you’ve given up at some point (just like me), I hope you become inspired to live your life again. Your setbacks can serve as open doors for a comeback. Don’t lose heart. ♡

A/N

This fit might just be the epitome of what I never thought I would find myself wearing. 

Like, for realz! But I guess that because of the strong influence of streetwear in Instagram (wear I end up saving tons of outfit inspo), my taste has changed...or is slowly changing. And for once in a very long time, this type of change is something I’m not scared of.

Speaking of change, I no longer have my Twitter account. I haven’t been using it for months and it just bothers me to have a social media profile that virtually swarmed by mosquitoes ewwww hahaha! And for some personal reasons, I don’t consider Facebook an sm platform so I pretty much just have Instagram and Pinterest if you wanna follow me there! :)

Embroidery

As much as it broke my heart, I needed to drop out in the middle of my 1st year of college. As that season of my life came to an end, a new one began...

Just like the embroidered flowers on my outfit (sorry I just had to insert that haha!),  a career started to bloom, and this last week of August marks my 6th month as an English educator (and my 1 year into university if I pushed through with it). 

My transition from student to single professional has been filled with so much of God’s grace I couldn’t imagine how I would be able to handle such a ridiculous journey if not for Him. 

Just when I thought I couldn’t go through another 25-minute class, I do. Just when I thought I couldn’t handle another 14-hour day in the office, I do. Just when I thought I couldn’t deal with people coming from different walks of life, I do. Just when I thought God forgot about me, He reminds me of His Son, Jesus, whom He gave up so He can have me. Forever.

And just when I thought this was just gonna be a very short post, it’s not. LOL.

I’m sorry, I know this kind of talk about God and stuff is not everyone’s cup of tea. But I couldn’t be grateful and celebrate life (and the struggles that come with it) without thanking Him.  😊

He is my source of every good and perfect gift I receive...and my shelter as I go through the most hurtful of times.

So yeah--FriYAY! I hope you are all having a great one!

Dream Theme

Of all the fitting rooms I’ve been to, so far this one right here is my favorite. In fact, I like it so much it’s where I decided to shoot an impromptu outfit look! 

(If you already noticed that then it’s the sparse eyebrows that gave it away, didn’t it? Lol.)

There’s one thing you must know, however. I was wearing my Adidas Stan Smiths when I saw these black ankle boots in Zara, that were on sale! It was discounted for at least 75% off I think--such big savings! And you know I love my ankle boots so who was I to resist!? Heh.

I have a question!

If you opt for an all-black getup, what pop of color would you add to it? I think mine would be red or mustard. What’s yours? :)

Calvin&Construction

Calvin&Construction. There’s a pretty good ring to it, don’t you think?

Not seen in the photos but there was this huge heavy wooden post that I persistently moved away out of the frames so I could take ze OOTD. Little did I know (because I’m sometimes unapologetically unaware of my surroundings) that sign was a construction post and I was at a construction site! They were doing some renovations in this part of our neighborhood and I didn’t even bother to check if we’re allowed to enter--much more take pictures like I had all the time in the world lol!

Just in case you’re wondering, I learned about the warning just when we’re about to take the last few shots. So embarrassing on my part, I admit! Good thing no one was around...I think.

This silly and careless experience made me realize that when it comes to the important things in life--school, work, relationships, struggles, etc.--there were (and still are!) times when I’ve handled my affairs stupidly “just because” I didn’t bring myself to READ. I didn’t read about the instructions on the test paper, the T&C’s of the company. I didn’t bother to read the sad expression of a friend when she said, “I’m alright. Haha.” I didn’t take the time to read the Bible when things were going downhill...just because.

Just because I was too lazy to do so...Just because it’s not really needed...Just because I was caught up on the nice things that are happening at the moment...Just because I’m busy and/or my mind’s too occupied to even be reading about verses I don’t understand...(can I hear an Amen?)

Daily do I need to remind myself to go an extra mile. Not to strive for perfection, but to practice excellence. :) 

Okay, that’s all for now...need to get ready for my godson’s birthday! Hehe.

Lady Cherry

There are two titles I had in mind for this post. I could either go with Lady Cherry or Lady Legacy. The former sounds more fitting and so there we go. Haha.

This midi wrap dress from Zaful has been my girly alter ego’s dream for a while now. The famous cherry print design has been all over Pinterest, where I’ve been seeing models and celebrities wear it. It’s one of the few feminine clothing pieces I have in my closet and the very first wrap dress I bought. I’m head over heels in love with it!

One more thing I’ve been loving has something to do with the other title: Lady Legacy.

I love the 7-day devotional my Mom and I started reading just last week. It’s entitled Only One Life. (You may go chek it out in the YouVersion App...it’s so good!) Not gonna share too much, but it’s simply about making your mundane mean much more than just meh. (Did you notice what I just wrote there lol)

It’s about having the initiative to interpret life not as how it is (problematic, pessimism-filled etc.) but as how it could be or perhaps, how it must be. Having a purposeful perspective. It’s about leaving a legacy that is birthed from and built with a heart that chooses to be faithful in the smallest of things...

My hope for you and me is that we live a life that is as sweet as cherries to those around us...and that the legacy that we leave behind would create a trail of beauty and faith and hope and laughter for the next generation and the generations to come... 🍒

Stairs-esteem

Happy weekend guys!

To welcome another hot (and hopefully less humid) season and Butterfly Twists’ new SS18 collection, I’m bringing you their classic bestseller, the Olivia.

You’ve probably seen me in these a hundred of times already. It’s simple yet elegant design (which has also been re-vamped!) fits perfectly with these black lace dress and white long sleeves shirt. On A High

Where my Pinterest lovers at cos days of pinning things came down to this look!

This may be my most favorite to date—clothes-wise, hair-wise...and edit-wise! For the first time, after watching Kyz Uy’s photo-editing tutorial, I went ahead and used Lightroom CC to make specific colors more vibrant or saturated.

I straightened my hair a little, teased the crown of my head and applied two hair products for texture and volume, yet it looks like they were of no use cos hair’s still bagsak. Oh well.

For my outfit, I’m still on a straight cut, loose pants high. Lol. When I laid eyes on these pinstripe navy bottoms, I knew I must have them. Aside from its perfect length, the best thing about it is that it’s high-waisted! Can it get any better than that? With a strappy top and a fitted blazer, this look veers towards office wear so I wore it with slip-on sneakers to “casualize” the whole getup.

Ja-pants

Many times have I told myself I’d never be wearing oversized pants. Boy am I eating my words now.

From cliche NYC model-off-duty looks (where skinny denims are the deal) to slightly underrated Japanese street styles, I’m finally giving these loose bottoms paired with a loose top plus sneakers a shot. Thanks to my friend, Rome, who inspired me to try wide-leg pants.

I have more looks similar to this in mind so stay tuned!

Oh and let’s not forgot, off-shoulders. Aren’t they just lovely.

Oversizing It

Breaking my two-month hiatus with this oversized multicolored jacket I snagged at a thrift shop and put together with the same old basics: a tee and some jeans. And, if I may add, space buns!

I’m also finished with my first semester and on a Christmas break. Speaking of, is it just me or do the days feel less Christmas-y than they were 2 years ago? Well, I don’t know maybe I am too preoccupied with thoughts of the next term, or I’m not just aware of the Christmas lights at nights or the carols of the children? Anyway, I hope the lack of holiday spirit (if in case anyone of us feel that way) won’t make us forget the ultimate reason why we celebrate Christmas...😊
