It’s obvious that tumblr views gender not as a binary, not as a hierarchy, not as a performance, but as a commodity bought to portray the image of uniqueness, like all other fashion items found in your local shopping mall.

The most dominant stereotype of rape is that of an unknown man, often Black, jumping out of an alley and assaulting a White, middle-class, conservatively dressed woman. The woman has not consumed alcohol or engaged in any other “suspect” behaviors. She resists him by kicking, grabbing, scratching, and screaming, but her attempts to get away fail. He rapes her. This common stereotype is often viewed as the only situation in which the victim is blameless, or “legitimate.” When rapes do not fit this stereotype - for example, if the man is White, if the woman is a member of an ethnic minority group, if the man is at the woman’s home, if the woman has been drinking, if the woman does not physically resist after telling the man “no” - the rape is often seen as not being a “real” rape. The rape and its victim are not deemed legitimate.

Learning about rape myths, attitudes and beliefs people have which make rape ok, or not rape, or something ...stupid... I am shocked that people carry these thoughts around as truths. source - Talking about sexual assault: Society's response to survivors. - Ullman, Sarah. & [x]

Great article on hormonal birth control (the pill) here [x]
last night i was having this vagina state of mind so i took a cab instead of walking home alone
last week i was having this vagina state of mind so i had to wash my sheets because i mentally bled on them
when i was born i unfortunately had this vagina state of mind so i was socialised like a girl and told people like me are inferior
and after all this time i realise i was just having the wrong attitude, the wrong state of mind!
If I actually came through my mother’s state of mind, does that make me a figment of her imagination?
Our gay and lesbian forebears did not start riots and challenge policy so that queer theory could tell us we don’t exist.
