Here's a shot we took in Kings Beach right before leaving Tahoe to drive back to San Diego. We took the quote from a line written in "Into the Wild."

Only a bottle of Maker's Mark can turn a cold and cloudy day into a beach day.

This shot was taken yesterday close to home in Coronado, CA. It reminded me of the pirate ship at the end of Goonies.

I arrived at Lake Tahoe yesterday and decided to go all out for dinner at a place called The Fresh Ketch located at the Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe. Although, this place sits on a large lake, they really didn’t have any freshwater fish options which I thought was interesting. They did have a lot of seafood options which didn’t disappoint. I was pretty hungry and ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer (8 pieces) and a cesar salad before ordering my main entree which was Executive Chef Bill Belair’s signature dish:
Stuffed Halibut Chef Bill’s signature dish Shrimp, lobster, scallops, brie, dill, mascarpone chive mash, asparagus
This was probably one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had and something I would definitely make an effort to get again next time I’m in the area.

We're heading up to Lake Tahoe this weekend and I'm really hoping I can relive this awesome dining experience, I've been craving this meal since I was there last May.

This is a shot of Cathedral Rock we took during a trip to Sedona, AZ in December of 2012. We added the Einstein quote because it seemed fitting for the moment.

Last summer I went camping at San Gorgonio Mountain with my buddy Jozias. San Gorgonio, also known as Old Greyback, is part of the San Bernardino National Forest and at 11,503ft (3,506m) is the tallest peak in southern California. Before venturing off into the wilderness we spent the night in Big Bear getting our gear prepped. The following morning we started our ascent up the mountain. After 10 miles of hiking lots of switchbacks and rain, we finally reached our campsite which was at approximately 9,000ft. By the time we reached the site we had about an hour of sunlight to setup camp, and luckily the rain stopped long enough for us to do it. Once we got setup we had a very mediocre dinner of hotdogs and some hot chocolate followed by a long uncomfortable night with no sleeping pad and a sleeping roll that was no match for the cold weather.
After a long cold and rainy night the clouds broke and the sun came out. I headed over to a break in the trees to warmup in the sunshine and check out a pond that we passed on the way in. Later that morning we set out to go check out an old crash site from the 1950s. As we were heading higher up the mountain a storm started to roll in and within minutes we were being pelted by hail and the trails were quickly flooded, once lighting was added to the mix we decided it was best to head back so at about 11,000ft we turned around and started our descent back to camp.
Even though the weather wasn't favorable the trip was still a lot of fun and the area is definitely a place I'd like to check out again.

Back in 2007 I took a trip down to Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was my first time in South America and I loved every second of it. I've been back to Argentina a total of 4 times now and spent about a month there each time with the exception of this first trip. The photo above was actually taken during a day trip across the Rio de la Plata to a town called Colonia del Sacramento, known simply as "Colonia" in Uruguay.
I'm sure I'll be posting more "archival" photos from my time in South America as well as some various recollections of my experiences there.

We went to Arizona for a long weekend just before Christmas last year. This shot was taken at the Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, AZ. The quote is from Albert Einstein.
