Original concept art for the cover of what would become the cover of The Amaranth Chronicles: Deviant Rising
Lithia’s parents ship was willed to her after they died. She occasionally uses it to make supply runs and deliveries for an underground group known as Magdalene’s, a pseudo religious group that helps take care of the “have nots” of San Francisco.
The Amaranth Chronicles: Deviant Rising had two authors on the project. Author Chris Preiman shares some of his thoughts about the story: "What does The Amaranth Chronicles mean to you?" #amaranthchronicles #video #inkshares #author #askmeanything
So, we’re getting prototype action figures made. Yeah, you read that right. :)
Concept art for our character Aurelius and the “slush suit”. Aurelius is a bit of a lost soul, having joined Strife’s Merchant Marine Corp as an opportunity to work on fighters and other small craft. He’s always one slip-up from getting kicked out of the corp completely and lives more in the moment than anywhere else.
Original concept art for our character Cade. Cade Path is Captain Shard’s “observer”, a mission auditor who oversees operations and makes sure the captain of a U.P.E vessel is conducting the mission with the empires best interests at heart.
Concept art for our character Lithia Boson, a regular girl from the rich upper terraces of San Francisco, Earth. Largely a bystander to the military conflicts she will fall into, she is the heart and the soul of our story with a rich spiritual perspective and a tragic past. Lithia grew up in the floating cities of Venus. There her parents ran a small business growing and shipping flora of all different types to distant colonies and ships. Her mother was the green thumb and her father the tradesmen. She missed her father while he was away on long supply runs in the family ship; The Amaranth.
I walked into the Corta Madera CA Barnes & Noble earlier this week and found it on the shelf. I was literally shaking and at one point had to grab a chair and sit down. It’s been such a long, uphill battle... but now we’re finally on the shelf in a real bookstore. Man, what a milestone.
We’re getting better everyday
The world is suffering, not because of mass shootings, celebrity assignations, school shooters or morally bankrupt elected officials. The world is suffering because it hasn’t realized there will always be bad people who do bad things that you can neither anticipate nor protect yourself against and rather than allowing fear and pain to tear us apart and divide us we need to instead focus on the way the larger portion of the human race comes together during these events. The world isn’t falling apart, its becoming safer, more civilized and more spiritually enlightened every day; we’re just obsessing over the scary parts. Don’t fear the bad guy, or the tool they use to carry out their evil; feel safe in knowing every bullet that’s fired, every hate speech that spoken and every life lost only makes us more aware and closer as a global community. We may not be able to bring back those we have lost, but the sacrifices of those whose cords have been cut are now immortal and live within us. We are, in fact, getting better every single day and we, as a collective mass and as individuals, have things to be proud of. Don’t let bad people, or the things they do, make you forget that.
Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistence. Remember that our sons and our grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty.
