“Venice, hm?” she questioned. “I’ve always wanted to go to Venice. I travelled a bit last summer when I wanted to get away from magic and everything, but it was only in the states.”
Luca frowned slightly. “Why did you want to get away from magic?”

“Oh, good, I was hoping you would say that.” She laughed, grabbing the string and tugging at one of the longer sleds. It was heavier than she thought.
“So...how exactly does this work?”

“Sorry, we’re closed.” He drawled as the chime above the door went off. Darcy sighed at the look Indigo gave him, murmuring ‘alright, alright’ as he got up with a stretch to greet the man. “How can I help you?”

“It’s probably best we go together. For the first run at least.”

“Oh, yes, but I like it all the same. Venice is wonderful enough in winter, but here it’s different. It’s a new experience.”

Katherine shrugged. “It fine,” she replied. “A nice break from everything. And you?”
“Oh, yes. It’s my first winter in the states, I’m enjoying myself immensely.”

Andi laughed, “Yes. Yes they do. Americans celebrate everything. There’s a major holiday at least once a month that the kids don’t have to attend lessons for. It’s insane.”
“That is crazy.” Luca shook his head. “Still, this place is amazing!”

“Yes, let’s! I moved there just recently and I only know like one person there. And that’s my boss.”

Katherine blushed slightly. “I wouldn’t mind that,” she replied to Luca. “Though, I don’t believe I’m even a lick Italian. So if you don’t mind that, I don’t mind.”
“No one’s perfect,” Luca teased, smiling. “So, Kata, how are you enjoying the festival?”

Living with hemophilia, Luca understands better than most that life is short, that tomorrow is never guaranteed for any of us. Because of that, he is not the kind to hold back. He’s honest about what he thinks and what he feels. He wants to experience life, not hide in a bubble of safety. He has only one life and he means to make the most of it.
