Project 6: Oakleys First Year
For my final project I decided to create an artistic video to showcase my dogs first year. I chose a song that added emphases to the video, not a distraction. I created a cartoon look to the video by playing around with filters like contrast and brightness. The cartoon effect was also important to me because it showed my dogs playful side.
Project 5: Performance Art Exercise
Artist Statement Performance Project
This project allowed me to create an idea from nothing into something quote entertaining. I've always found simplicity and beauty in the way shadows move and appear against a dim light. I decided to pick an upbeat song like Pharrell's "Happy" as my inspiration for dancing. Then I decided to lay the a trial song as my audio to match my art performance. I found this to be therapeutic and a fun project to create.

Goldberg Article Reading Response
I found that the article gave a great synopsis regarding the history of performance and contemporary art. The article also opened up my eyes to how many different approaches performance art is broken up to. In the past, I’ve mostly only been exposed to live performances with art objects or narratives. But now society is starting to recognize performance as an art medium and artist are starting to find new innovative ways to showcase it to the public. However when performance is at it's rawest form, I do find it difficult to find the value in the piece. But maybe with awareness, experience and education... I can become privy to the information presented by the artist.
When I first read the passage the parts that stuck out to me was about the origin of art talking about the shadows and the projections onto the walls. The way the shadows, the music, and the black and white images all go together makes the whole video seem to flow very well. The name of the song “This Place is Haunted” also goes along with the same theme because it looks like the shadows are the ghosts of musicians past.t than through music. Coffee Break
Artist Statement- This Project was pretty fun and opened my eyes to the strength of the video medium. While making this video I researched propaganda and ways to implement it and I think the video medium is a great way to use it. I used some of my my own footage and appropriated some stuff I found online. I really wanted to make my own animation, but didn’t have enough time. My video is just me on a coffee break! Thanks for watching!

Project 4 Artist Statement
For my video I wanted to do something about my high school experience with a flute instructor and kids in my band class. When I was playing the flute I was not very good at it and was definitely one of the lowest skilled people in the class. Kids in my grade and the flute instructor treated me like dirt and that I was a failure to life. During this time “Numb” by Linkin Park became my favorite song and inspired me to work on what I loved best which was drawing and at the time physics and math instead of worrying about something I was no longer interested in so I dropped band and joined theatre and had a really great time. I ended up being sound head and stage manager and graduated with honors even though they thought I was a failure.
The drawing scenes add a really great visual element to your project. Good job!
Artist Statement #4
This project was a challenge for me. It took me a while to learn how to use iMovie. I have never used it before. But I challenged myself. I ended up with this video. I found four different videos and combined them together.

3-Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue - Sunny side of the street.
4-Prototype & Carnage -Running To The Sea
From the first video I took the sound. From the second video I took the elements of lights from the pictures. It was very beautiful because there are different colors in this video. From the third video I took some images, as well as, the fourth video. The last video of the ball I designed myself. It was interesting to manipulate the movement and coloring of the ball on my own. I was able to learn how to overlap the videos and make them work together as one piece. I learned a new technique and a new program. I hope that that this works as a quality piece that brings enjoyment to viewers.
Great job! Love that you really took the time out to match the visual effects to the song.
Project 4: Just Breathe
Artist Statement 4: This project taught me to step out of my comfort zone and play with different effects, sounds and visuals to create a short video. I chose one of my favorite songs for the audio and drew inspiration from my love of the ocean. I've always been fascinated by the colors and sounds a surfer makes when they ride a good wave. I wanted to portray that in this video and manipulate the colors to create a vanishing effect with the surfer riding into the waves. This part of the exercise was the most rewarding and gave me a new appreciation for video art.

Reading Response #4
I found the Cubitt reading definitely difficult to grasp and understand. However, there were a few things I took away from the reading that inspired me for my video art project. I do agree with the fact that as a society we are just now grasping the concept of projection and the use it has with video. I do believe that today’s artists are starting to view video as an art form, especially when its main resource is projection.
Although technology is emerging and becoming wireless, I do agree with Cubitt when he points out that the biggest drawback to technology evolving, is the lack of privacy we will encounter as a society. In my opinion, technology has created a world where social media weighs so heavily on society, that peoples lives are affected by what they post on the internet.
