“Y’know I’m not super religious or militantly atheist,” Chris remarked, staring at the store window with it’s overly festive mannequins. “But can we hold off on the christmas stuff until after november? There’s only so much holiday cheer I can take before I start going crazy.”
“See, I’d usually agree but I’m in the mood for planning and decorating and throwing the most biggest, massive Christmas party ever. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but Christmas is the time to go all out.”
connortakesnewyork:
“I’m thinking I’m just going with Hallo-week for Ellie.” Connor commented as he looked down at the four-month-old dressed as a flower who was sitting in his lap. “Between me and her aunt Chloe she might have a few too many costumes, but she just looks so cute in all of them, clearly we can’t be blamed.” he added with a grin. “I’m not even really sure what I’m doing this year on Halloween. She’s too little for trick-or-treating.” he added as he considered that thought.
“The only reason why I would have a kid is to be able to dress them up however, whenever, honestly.” Ashley’s hand went for the baby’s cheek and caressed it softly. “She’s gorgeous.”
littlemissclara:
“Okay, we’re only a few weeks out from Halloween, so clearly that means that someone needs to tell me where the cool parties are around here. I don’t want all the tourists stuff, like where do you guys actually go for fun?” she questioned with a grin, “I moved here in July and I don’t plan on leaving, so I really need to figure this stuff out.”
“I don’t know where the next “cool” party is but it sure as Hell won’t be hosted by me. Not again.”
asliceofaiden:
He wanted to respond, he did, but then, she was kinda right. This didn’t even have anything to do with alcohol and it still made him end up in the ditch. So damn poetic. His hand squeezed hers, making sure to stand up without pulling her down. “Demanding as ever,” he mumbled softly as eyes checked up on her. “You okay?”
Ashley sighed and shrugged slightly, “I can’t help it.” As he stood up and was finally on his own two feet, she stepped back a little and tried getting a better view. He didn’t seem drunk, but she was still worried. “I.. Will be. Are you?”
emmyfuk:
With a freshly scuffed cheek, split bottom lip and a black eye forming, it’s easy to say Em had been to hell and back. Her head was throbbing and frankly she probably needed something more than a bandaid; stitches or a shot but Emmy would always reach for the second one. As her black shoes made a crisp sound against the sidewalk of Manhattan, shoulders brushing against hers to only make her grow more and more angry. Leaning against a cool brick wall, the girl looked up at the sky, possibly asking for some being of power to strike her down. “God, I don’t get paid enough for my job,” she hissed, the pain only increasing as she spoke. “You know what, you’re buying –– we’re getting drinks,” and before the person next to her had time to object or ask about her new wounds, she already had their arm pulling them towards her restaurant.”
Ashley couldn’t believe her eyes. She hadn’t seen Emmy in a long time, and now she’s finding her step sister in this state and she doesn’t know what to think -- yet does know what to do. Or at least so she thinks. “Yeah, sure,” Ashley muttered as Emmy dragged her away and into the restaurant. She wasn’t even thinking about commenting on the other woman’s state. It would be pointless, they’d end up fighting, Ashley would end up upset -- again. “Order whatever.”
julianmoonier:
“I made the mistake of checking my social media… and now I’m tempted to just make a new Facebook profile and everything. It’s sweet that everyone posted on my profile and everything but it, like, overloaded the profile and my browser crashes whenever I try and open it on anything except the app on my phone.”
“I’m sorry, what?”
elbrcdshaw:
“you do have a point there, just let them tone it down a bit, i guess? did you have people guarding by the entrance,” she said, nodding at the waiter to get them both another drink. “correction, the universe hates us. it can’t even give us a break.”
“I honestly didn’t think I would need it.” The waiter served their drinks and Ashley grabbed hers. “What’s up with you? Trouble in paradise?”
asliceofaiden:
Aiden couldn’t help but roll his eyes when noticing Ashley. Of course, she had to be here - always with the bad timing. “I’m fine, by the way.”
“No you’re not,” she quickly replied. Extending her hand, Ashley raised her eyebrows. Sure she was a bit dainty and had zero strength to lift a man like Aiden, but she figured he needed all the help he could. “Stand up.”
vxsilicv:
“Yes, I know Charlotte. You could say we are friends, not good friends but friends.” He shrugs his shoulders. “My coworkers were demanding that i bring my secret lover along and I wanted to make them look like assholes. So, Charlotte gracefully accepted my offer that we arrive as a grieving widower and daughter. Having her become my fake partner would be too awkward since she’s a lesbian.” Yev looks over at Charlotte with a small smile, letting his shoulders drop a bit of their tenseness. “Anything that needs to slip by customs and boarder patrol.” Yevgeni winks and then turns to the bartender to ask for two shots of vodka.
It was interesting to listen to the man talk -- he spoke unlike some of the people Ashley associated with, especially since most of them were college sorority girls who preferred squealing and doing karaoke, rather than have an in-depth conversation. “Sounds like quite the plan. Smart and sneaky, I like it,” she gave a simple smile. It took her a little by surprise that Charlotte was a lesbian, but it didn’t phase her.
As Yevgeni explained his profession, Ashley started to follow what he meant. He was a man of means and measures. He seemed like the kind to do whatever he needed to do to get shit done. “So basically you have a lot of money and power.”
charlescyoung:
Charles chuckled lightly. “If I still know you the way I used to know you, I am sure you will.” He responded to her. “Are you planning something big?”
Sometimes it was nice to have someone who knew her for some time ago to remind her how she used to be. Even though Ashley isn’t 100% who she used to be, she still wishes to keep some of her old self. “Thanks,” she said, then added, “if you know me, you know the answer to that. Party in The Hamptons. Obviously. And you’re coming.”
gucrrv:
“Tragic, isn’t it?” Titan hummed from behind his flute of champagne. He’d spent the majority of the party rubbing elbows with some of his father’s protege’s and some potential wealthy clients. All in a day’s work for one of New York’s elite— but he was well aware of the ongoing slew of uninvited patrons flooding in. It was becoming less of what he’d anticipated and he’d lost the majority of his clientele in the tsunami of this white trash bash. Still, he couldn’t help but feel a mild satisfaction towards the quick descending of societal expectations. It was funny— from a distance. “You sure you wanna call the police?” He reasoned. “Might put a damper on the mood.”
“I’m not calling anyone,” she said between gritted teeth and an eyeroll. “I just saying, that, I might not, but someone else would -- either because they can’t stand the noise or just to fuck with me because honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if they did because... Well.. It’s me.” Ashley was rambling and she knew it but she needed to vent to someone and she figured at least someone like Titan could understand. “But I’m figuring if I just get drunk I might just not care about whatever makes it to Page Six tomorrow.”
elbrcdshaw:
“they’re obviously party crashers, they didn’t even follow the color coding,” she says as she stands beside the blonde, leaning against the bar. “how about you call your security to kick these people out?,” she looks around, observing the chaos that was on the verge of starting. “i think they’re here for for your open bar, ash.”
“If I call security it’ll be a bigger issue than what it already is. Plus, do you really think these... Alcoholics will go down without a fight?” She sighed and downed the rest of her drink. “I just needed this one night to go according to plan -- but the universe hates me.”
trevorhastings:
Trevor looked over at the blonde. “Oh come on Ash, its not that bad..” He barley managed to finish the sentence before a loud crash, followed by a shattering crystal sound filled the room. He bit his lips together, keeping his eyes on his friend. “On second though..”
Her head whipped in the direction of the commotion and her small hand balled into a fist, her nails digging into the palm of her hand. “Just what I fucking needed,” she said between gritted teeth. “I never should have thrown this party. This was all just a huge mistake.”
vxsilicv:
“Yeah yeah, I’m done.” He says with a small smirk. “Well, Charlotte wandered off once she met with a few of my coworkers who are here.” Yev looks behind him, wondering where she had went off to exactly. “So I’ve just been drinking really. I have no use for socializing here because most people don’t need a stock broker or for exotic imports.” Was he hinting at his connection to smuggling, yep, he sure was.
“Well thank goodness,” Ashley muttered going back to her wine. “Oh you know Charlotte?” she perked up when he mentioned the name of her recently acquired friend. Listening to what he said, Ashley did pick up a weird vibe in the way he said his profession. Sure she was a little tipsy already, but Ashley had spent enough time around her father and his friends to know how certain words are used to disguise the shady things they did sometimes. “What is considered an exotic import?” Ashley asked, going straight to her curiosity.
emmyfuk:
“Looks like word got out, what ever should we do –– if only you had a connection with an influential member in the low-life community. oh wait,” she said, sucking in a breath. “The police? Come on, those guys can kick it, especially if you have the right bribe lined up for them. Some like blow, others like cash. You’d be surprised,” she mused. “But lighten up, it’s a party not a funeral. So what, people crashed, it happens. At least it’s not a dud and what’s a white party without a few stains?”
Ashley heard Emmy but felt adamant to listen to her. They had lost a bit of their touch -- Emmy had other priorities and as much as Ashley tried to care, for Emmy it seemed to be worth shit. Sure Ashley tended to be just as stubborn, but she was still able to recognize when she knew enough was enough. Emmy didn’t. “If it was up to me, I’d rather have no connection to no one in that community,” Ashley clarified, her expression neutral. Of course someone like Emmy didn’t understand what this party meant for Ashley. While it seemed mundane and ridiculous, Ashley was just looking for another way in after all her high class friends had begun to shun her. “What would you know about White parties? This is what, your second one?” Ashley didn’t like to be a grudge-holder, but she still hurt after Emmy and her last conversation.
