Happy pride form two gays who got stuck in space with an alienš³ļøāš
do you think cats understand that we can't see as well in the dark as them or when i trip over my cat in the night is he like. bro what the fuck is your problem. stop being clumsy.
Sorry to talk about Harry Potter again but when it comes to the slave race that Rowling put in her books, she said she based the house elves off of brownies. You know, those creatures in British folklore that clean your house for you because they like doing it and are offended if you try to pay them?
Why not just put brownies in your story then? Almost identical effect without all the slavery.
If you wanna make the Malfoys look worse just idk maybe they put a spell on Dobby to bind him to their house and he canāt leave unless the malfoys break the rules and theyāre bad to him but donāt technically try to break the rules until Harry tricks them into paying dobby with some clothes.
There. Problem solved. You can have hundreds of brownies living at hogwarts even. And when Hermione misinterprets their situation and tries to thank them and start paying them the brownies start getting offended and leaving and this causes an actual problem for the school. Much easier to make a subplot about not listening to the people that youāre trying to help.
Just another way you realize as an adult that these books werenāt really thought through very well.
i feel like lately every time it gets warm the local news is like "this is HISTORIC heatwave reaching the highest temperatures SINCE RECORDS BEGAN" so yknow thats probably a normal sign for the enviroment. this seems fine. dont worry about it.
"Problematic height gap" was a concept made up by people who have never seen the kind of short people who go out to interact with the public. Those fucking gnomes fear nothing. If they're at the exact right height to bite you in the nuts, they will.
And insanely tall people come in two categories: If they're merely tall, and not large, they're just skittish fragile giraffes. The most dangerous thing they can do to you is stand up too fast, faint because their blood pressure dropped, and hit you on the way down like a felled tree.
The tall people who are also large are mostly chill in my experience. Sure some of them must be assholes just out of statistical inevitability, but it takes some edge out of life knowing that someone could try to hit you with a tank and all they're going to find out is whether or not a Leopard 2A7 has a crumple zone. And most importantly they are never tactically prepared for getting bit in the nuts.
I work in customer service at the airport, and I will never forget the FEAR that ran through me when a large man OVER 2.08m (6 ft, 8 inches) tall started yelling at me because HE didnāt have his travel visa!
Iām only 1.65m (5 ft, 4 inches), and I KNOW he was taller than 2.08m cause he was taller than the doorway.
I deal with Karens of all shapes, sizes, nationalities, and gender, and the most common problem is that THEY didnāt show up with the correct travel documents. Without these documents, LEGALLY I canāt let them travel otherwise theyād get deported back here, and I could get suspended or fired for making that kind of mistake!
This GIANT of a man was not gentle at all when I had to explain this to him. Like every other entitled person who lashes out when they donāt have their shit together, he became rude and aggressive about letting him fly. Except THIS entitled, aggressive person was looming over me AND all my male colleagues like a hulking brute enemy from a video game!
He wasnāt violent, but the minute he started becoming aggressive was when all my coworkers came to my side. A man like that couldāve sent me to the floor with a light push, and he couldāve done the same to my coworkers who range from slightly taller than me to about 1.8m (6 feet). At least with a group of us we had strength in numbers.
We had to get our supervisors involved, and he didnāt end up flying. If he had his visa, the only issue wouldāve been seeing if there were any extra leg-room seats free, since he showed up towards the end and those seats go quickly. But he didnāt, so he couldnāt fly, simple as that.
Iāve met some of the skittish, fragile giraffe kind of tall people as well, and generally they are polite and chill, they just want that extra leg-room.
Iāve also met the gnome-sized people, also fine. Iāve met differently-abled people who need extra support because they canāt walk well or at all, Iāve met people who can only show their faces to me or another female colleague because of their religious beliefs, Iāve met people who have children, and people who are expecting.
In my 3 years at this job, the one universal quality that everyone I meet has is the patience of a toddler when theyāre told that they canāt fly without a visa.
I just remember this man in particular because he was a giant brute of a toddler.
I think one of the worst things a story can be is unproblematic.
Nothing makes a story more unreadable than being able to see the author squirm apologetically for the story they actually want to writeāwringing their hands and imploring the reader please, please donāt be mad, I know itās ideologically questionable but I need you to not be mad at me!
For example: a Good Kingā¢ļø. Itās one thing for a story to present a fictional monarchy and ask me to root for it. Itās another thing for a story to say, hey, I know what youāre thinkingābut donāt worry! I can justify this premise! I have introduced a lot of convoluted self-aware political justifications for why my king is good and likable without actually asking any risky ideological questions! These characters arenāt actually problematic! Donāt be mad at me!
Commit to the bit. Apologetic, defensive writing designed to bypass obvious criticisms often winds up offending me far more than stories that are just kind of surface-level problematic. If Iām gonna be a hater you cannot stop me; the more you insist that a character is actually a good oil tycoon because of all these exceptional situations and beyond my reproach, the more I resent you and hate your stupid book.
How can I get a full time job as the wandering stranger that comes into town and gets by on odd jobs and has their face partially obscured by a hood and/or cowboy hat
Theatre auditions are their own circle of hell
Must not pick that scab off. It will not in fact get rid of the scab and just create a different scab. The scab is not done cooking yet. I am completely normal about scabs. <-gripping the edges of his chair so tightly the wood is starting to crack
i dont agree with outdoor cats but i gotta admit the fact me and my roommate can fondly talk about local cats like theyre our beloved neighbours is pretty cool. do i know any of the humans who live in my neighborhood? not particularly. do i know the little tuxedo cat with the pink collar who recognises the ice cream truck music and comes out to get pets from all the kids? of course they're a local celebrity to me.
I don't want to buy mass-produced garbage from a big box store so I go to etsy but half of etsy is now dropshipped mass-produced garbage or AI slop so I go to the local arts and crafts street market but a ton of those booths are also selling the same generic plastic objects or identical stickers or 3D printed dragons so WHERE do I buy real trinkets and art from sincere freaks
I will not celebrate America but I will celebrate Taylor swift I love you girl
Happy two years since Travis went on stage at the eras tour to all that celebrate
me as a teenager: man it sucks to have no privacy or autonomy but i guess its for a good reason. when i turn 18 i will realise how young i was and understand why they did all that.
me as an adult: teenagers are an oppressed class, their abuse is normalised and systemic and they need to start killing people
I kept forgetting my nighttime antidepressant so I set an alarm where the sound was a recording of me saying "HEY. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL" because I thought it would be funny. It was funny about three times, and then it started making me mad and I'd dismiss it right away to make it stop. So I handed my phone to my partner, who made another recording sweetly saying "Okay Shira, it's time to take your medication" and now I don't get mad anymore and I take my pill. The "compassion over punishment" camp has gotta get something wrong one of these days
good morning swifties
you make one fucking post where the point is āwomen are encouraged to develop disordered eating from a very young age and that impacts how we view the ānaturalā size and shape of womenā and too many reblogs later i am being accused of saying short people wouldnāt exist if they ate better growing up. iām sorry but if you genuinely think i was saying that you are just a buffoon. i cannot and will not sanction your buffoonery.
