This is an unusual species and naming it proving troublesome. Since a eagle/pony hybrid is calleed a hippogriff and a griffon is a eagle.lion hybrid is called a griffon it means griff it the use of a eagle ancestry therefore Hippo is for ponies reverse engineering Hippogriff. So I think the name should be Hippogris (using mentioned Hippo and the part of the Latin word for Tiger). Assuming these birds are Ardea Albas (or Great Egrets) and that the foremost one is flying away from the wake that means this specimen is roughly 130cm (or 4'6" for our non-imperial viewers). The specimen (a female) does not seem to be hunting the birds, instead she seems the be playing with them. Note: Measurements are assuming angle and water effects, if off recalculate by finding the visual depth scale. -David Attenburro
Anthromancy, the magical art of assuming an anthropomorphic from and/or assuming anthropomorphic qualities, can be dangerous for quadrupeds as not combining the correct spells can lead to vertigo, back problems, phantom limb syndrome, dissociative identity disorder, and/or spell dependency disorder. It looks like Lyra is using a basic spell called Force Hands, it is similar to the Human Transmutation Spell called Mage Hand, though this spell does not work at range and allows the caster to use their own muscle to lift. Further spells in the book would be better in the long run physically but risk more of the psychological side effects. These are Hooves to Hands and Pivot Hip, or if high enough in magical power Transmutate Quadruped to Biped (this gives full advantage and natural adaption of having a bipedal form while retaining the quadrupedal races advantages that do not require all four legs). I wish Mrs. Lyra luck in her studies but hopes she does not go to far.

Here we have an interesting cross breed (I refuse to use the term half-breed as it sounds derogatory) of a Diamond Dog (Adamas Canis) and judging by the dominant genes a Unicorn Equestrian Pony (Magicae Equus). Due to lack of horn I believe I will name this a Diamagriff informally and Adamas Equus formally.

Interesting I would have never thought that a Umquam Nuba Lupus could get so big, the amount of animating magic stored in it must be immense. How I wish it was safer to get closer and get readings on it.

It seems one of the Minimus Equus (Tiny Pony) has met with a human. Oddly the tiny pony is not seemingly distraught by either the presence of a human or the temperature of the tea they are in. I believe it is the quality of her seemly Terra Equus ancestry that provides her with the hardiness to be there but her reaction to the human should be more pronounced. Although I may be seeing this wrong it could be a Terra Equus encountering a Homo Gigas (Giant Man), but that would make the lack of reaction from the pony even more odd. Then again from the physical appearance and social behaviors of the pony they may be under the influence of an intoxicant. -David Attenburro
These creatures though disturbing are still worth researching, I have yet to come up with a proper scientific or colloquial term for them and much of them is still a mystery. Despite my hesitation I will do my best to uncover the secrets of this species.
Here we have a fine example of an Aranea Equus, or spider pony, though social and friendly enough when well fed they can be very dangerous and proficient hunters, using their venom that interacts with magic in a creature's blood and magic cancelling webbing they can bring down most species in Equestria, as evidenced by the captured Draconequus in this female's web. -David Attenburro
Here we have an Aroma Equus or Spice Pony they are responsible for creating songs and videos of average quality that can be forgotten easily in a few years. They are usually named after emotions of states of being, as thesis one here would be Loyal Spice. Their use in food preparation is still a highly debated and contested topic even to this day.

I have researched many creatures, from the mighty Alishark to the simple Cloud Mouse and I have never found a creature that defied my ability to categorize into a recognizable system. This animal has features of Dragon, Dinosaur, and Unicorn Pony at least. In addition I am not entirely sure if the creatures are not of sapient thought, have a limited vocalization, or have a very cryptic language. Since I do not see any canines I can say that they are not carnivorous, might be an inefficient omnivore or a herbivore though. I not truly not sure if I want to follow these creatures much longer, I have a creeping feeling that my sanity is at stake. -David Attenburro

Greetings I am David Attenburro, a Mule who pursues the fields of Zoology, Mythozoology, and Xenozoology, and dabbles in Theoretical Zoology and Cryptozoology. It is my hope that the research notes and logs here will provide insight into the rare and wonderful creatures of the Equestrian World. If anyone has further thoughts or insight they are free to share them so ask, tell and show away. I am also interested in finding new specimens to log and research so if you find any new ones let me know as well. It is my wish that all those who read my entries will get the same sense of excitement as I did finding them in the first place.
Thank You
