Stealing candy from a baby [open]
The party decided to split up once they made it to Anchiem, leaving each person to their own devices for about an hour, and that was all the time the vestal needed to purchase a world map for herself. Being lost all the time was frustrating, but it was even more aggravating to hear everyone make jokes about how she couldn’t tell North from South at any given point throughout their journey.
Weaving through the crowd of people who lived here in the desert area, she made her way over to the nearest stall and picked up a mildly-used scroll of the world map. It honestly didn’t matter if the thing smelled a bit musty or that it had been drawn on by a crayon-wielding child at some point, she needed to buy the damn thing at all costs. 10,000pg seemed pretty… expensive… But that was the price she was willing to pay to end the ridiculous jokes about her being directionally-challenged once and for all!
Who will be laughing now that she has the whole world at her fingertips?
Hopefully nobody, even though she was currently holding the thing upside down… As if that would help her distinguish which way was Northeast when she was already facing Southwest. Turning it around this way and that way, she had completely lost track of time due to putting her full focus on the map– Agnès didn’t even notice the familiar face of that Jackal run straight past her with Valor’s goods in hand.
There was one thing that could make the vestal snap out of her trance though, Valor’s rage. Snapping her head in the direction of her companion’s voice, Agnès swiftly rolled up the map and hid it behind her back as if it was some kind of strange item that she had to keep to herself.
“Wait, what…? Bandits???” she inquired, turning on her heel to move alongside Valor in search of this thief. “I will do my best to aid you, Valor!” There wasn’t much to go by, but she felt like she might know who it was… Or who it could be connected to, at least, considering what happened the last time she was on this side of the world. Could it really be that guy though? One would think that he’d learn his lesson by now…
How are we going to catch him though? Tiz and Ringabel weren’t with them, so it might not be easy to fight him and his gang if they were working together… But they’ll just have to try, won’t they? They didn’t really have any other choice right now. Glancing from left to right, she realized that it would be even more difficult to find the bandit in this crowd anyway. She needed to come up with a plan, anything to scare the person out of hiding and possibly even make everyone move out of the way at the same time.
Agnes stopped in her tracks to cup her hands around her mouth and yelled as loud as she could to get everyone’s attention:
“Stop right there, thief!”
The last word caught the attention of everyone within hearing range, bringing most of the adults to a full stop as they exchanged whispers and glances of their own to see what was going on. …Did it work though? Whomever did it must be high-tailing it away from here now, which should be easy to spot when nobody else was really moving or speaking as loudly as they were before the vestal shouted a moment ago.
Jackal was in the midst of checking his prize. A heavy pouch it was, and the thief believed he shall be eating well tonight. Perhaps he shouldn’t had been checking while he was nearby the crowd of the marketplace, some vendors would recognize his face and simply put their guard up around him. Therefore, he sat upon a second story window while he counted. But then his hears heard a familiar voice. It catches his attention. He turns his attention to see, and there she was: The Witch. “Holy...shieet.” The thief murmurs under his breath. Screw the prize, let’s get the vestal instead! She’s most definitely worth by the tenfold of this contents of this bag. He eyes the victim that was by the vestal, ( Well she looked pissed. Rightfully so, sucker.) and decides to chuck her bag in her face. A stupendous smirk bestowed on himself as he jumps down right in front of Agnes on the cobblestone path. “I won’t be needin’ this no more. I’ll be gladly taking you instead.” Naturally, his words spoke after his actions were done. He was off to do the next course of action. Kidnapping! Jackal may been young, but he was tall and had the physique and strength required to carry her.
Wrapping an arm around the vestal, he pulled her in closer to his chest. His grip was firm as the Jackal then lifted her into his arms and began to move his feet as fast as he can. Hopefully, the chick with the bag wouldn’t be able to keep up.
