I was tagged to share a part of my yoga practice so here is a breathing technique for anyone in need of releasing stress, feeling out of balance (logically, creatively, emotionally), in need of calming and centering the mind, suffering from respiratory problems, chakra alignment, or wanting to maintain body temperature.
Nadi Shodhana (alternate nasal breathing): Nadi Shodhana is a breathing technique that cleanses the energy passages (meridians) of your body. The practice not only cleanses but also balances energies on both sides of the body—yin and yang. Using the right hand, fold the middle two fingers down into the palm, leaving your thumb, pinky, and ring finger extended. The right thumb will be used to close your right nostril while your pinky and ring finger will be used to close your left nostril. Beginning with the left side: exhale, and then use your right thumb to press against the right nostril, closing it. Not inhale for a count of four through the left nostril, then release the right side while closing the left side with your pinky and ring finger, and exhale for a count of four. Complete the cycle by inhaling on the right side; close it and open the left side, then exhale. Continue for 8 to 12 cycles.
