"That doesn’t mean I have to act the same way back to you" She replied still smiling. She listened to Beth carefully, considering her next words. "Life always finds a way to bring you down but you just gotta push on through. I mean I know it’s hard but that doesn’t mean you have to treat everyone like trash because of it" she watched the other’s face. 

Beth stayed silent for a few moments, considering what the other had said. "How do you stay so fucking positive?" She asked, her words coming out harsher than intended. "I don't see the point in pushing on... It happens over and over again. I open up, and they leave. What's the point?" She added, her voice defeated.

Cotton rolled her eyes at the underlying threat in her words. “I doubt you’d shoot me again anyway, not with a silver bullet” She challenged, watching the silver bullet ever so closely. Cotton sighed  loudly at the girl’s attempt to help, pushing Beth’s arm away “I don’t need your help to walk thank you very much!” she rolled her eyes at her, hoping she would take the hint that she wasn’t playing nice anymore. 

"Honestly? You don't think I won't shoot you?" Beth asked, though the question was rhetorical. As she was pushed away she sighed, realising it was her own fault the other was acting this way. "Look. You can barely walk, and it's like 3 miles to the closest healer. So let me help or make your own way home."

"Suuure because you can just magic up a silver bullet, can ya?" Cotton responded sarcastically, narrowing her eyes. "They aren’t that easy to get". Her leg was beginning to feel numb as she waited for the other to make the next more. She was trying her best not to move her leg to avoid any more pain "Now can we please leave?" she asked bitterly, folding her arms over her chest                          

"No but I can pull this out of my bag." Beth replied, pulling a lone bullet from her bag, the metal glinting in the moonlight. "This was pretty easy to get..." She added, though she quickly placed the bullet back, the silver hurting her own skin. Shaking her head she approached the other, offering out her arm for the girl to take, offering support to take weight off the injured leg. "Come on then, fucktruck."

Cotton smiled at the other in response. “Why wouldn’t I be nice to you?” she asked sweetly “I have no reason not to be.” 

"Because I treated you like trash..." Beth pointed out, sniffing. "I uh, well I've never had family before, and then I found out I had a brother and I was finally happy with life, and now he's gone!" She explained, her words falling from her mouth unstopped, before she fell silent once more, looking at the ground.

Cotton weighed up her options. “Go on then, What’s a bit more pain” she replied, her voice cracking. She listened carefully to her psychotic acquaintance, getting more angry “Of course i’m moody, you shot me in the bloody leg” She took a deep breath trying to calm herself, she need to stop with the outbursts but she was fed up with all this and the burning sensation in her leg. She frowned as the other turned to face her “I know what the hell it is”       

"Look, I'm offering you some relief from the pain and you're refusing, so stop being a whiny little bitch baby, or the next bullet will be silver, and it'll go through your head. Got it?!" Beth snarled, her anger rising. She knew she should get a move on and get the other to a healer or a hospital, but she almost didn't want to, she wanted the other to suffer more, in sheer spite.

Cotton hesitated at the sudden change in Beth. What had suddenly made Beth so emotional? “You wanna talk about it?” she responded softly, not really sure what else to say to someone so…touchy. 

Beth stayed silent for a moment, considering the offer, though she didn't know why the other was being so nice to her. "I don't know.... Why are you being so nice to me?" She asked, wiping her eyes.

Cotton’s eye’s widened as she saw the needle emerge from Beth’s bag. “No, I will not shut up, don’t be so rude! by the way, you’re not sticking that needle in me” she snapped back before sensing another presence. She turned quickly as the other’s contact approached, breathing heavily as the meeting commenced. Waiting.  Still annoyed Cotton called out shakily, still in immense pain “You realise I have heightened senses and can hear every word you are saying, right?”    

Beth groaned as the other called out, pulling her gun from its holster once more. "If you don't shut up, I will shoot you again." She snapped, before turning back to her contact. "I apologise about her. She tried to escape so I had to stop her. She's being moody." She apologised, before shaking the man's hand and turning away from him. Walking back to Cotton she shook her head. "It was a pain killer you fucking idiot."

"What did you think I was gonna do?" Cotton asked, confused as to why the other had stumbled back on approach. Cotton gave her an apologetic look. Cotton liked this side of Beth, more than she had the crazy, scary side "What’s wrong…"                       

Beth shook her head at the first question, unsure of how to reply. She didn't even know why she'd stumbled back. "Everything..." She whispered, finally allowing her emotions to be released, beginning to cry. "Everything is wrong."

Cotton waited in agony for this stupid meeting to be over. The feeling of the blood seeping down her, making her want to throw up. “How do you know? are you in possession of their bullets, no. So shush” she remarked, quietly. She was still annoyed at the girl but there wasn’t a lot she could do about it right now. She looked at Beth and followed her gaze, noticing that someone was coming towards them.                     

Beth rolled her eyes slightly, realising that the girl was probably in agony, reaching into her bag and pulling out a needle. "Shut up." She snapped, uncapping it, the pain killer inside shining under the street lamps. She took a deep breath as her contact stopped in front of them, the familiar face glancing at the girl next to Beth. She explained quickly what was going on, before allowing the deal to happen. "Just... Find out for me, please." She whispered in her friend's ear, their own trade going on under the main deal.

Cotton watched the girl, feeling awkward about the whole situation. She watched beth carefully trying to figure out what kind of person she actually was. She took a few steps towards Beth “It’s fine” she said softly. “Are you okay?”                                               

As the other stepped closer, Beth stumbled back, afraid of what would happen, though she stilled as she realised the other was asking about her wellbeing. "Honestly? No I'm not alright..." She whispered, not trusting her voice, knowing it was about to crack and she was about to cry.

Cotton bit her lip trying to withhold any sound but the pain was beginning to become too much not to. She glared at the other, the apology made her feel no better as most of her thoughts focused on the pain in her leg. She hadn’t moved her leg yet and she wasn’t quite sure she wanted to try walk on. “unless they have silver bullets, I wouldn’t die anyway” Cotton mumbled, bitterly and breathless 

Beth frowned, feeling slightly guilty for shooting the girl, there probably was a better way to have pulled off their predicament, but it was past that now. "These guys are like the old time mafia okay, they have silver bullets." She breathed, frowning as her contact came into view.

Cotton smiled slightly as the girl paused. “I don’t know, I tried so hard to be nice to you” she responded, not even sure the girl wanted a response. “you act like I’ve done something horrible to you without realising and If I have I’m sorry” she continued, trying to convince Beth that she was a nice person.                                              

Beth shook her head at the girl, sighing as she realised how rude she had been. "I'm sorry..." She whispered, looking at the ground, ashamed with her actions. "I just... I can't..." She tried, her words failing her.

"You still don’t have to shoot me!" Cotton protested, trying to reason with the other. She knew she was probably gonna get shot though, she hesitated trying to come up with a better plan but she hadn’t a clue. Listening to the commands, Cotton closed her eyes tightly. Without any time to protest she heard the gun be fired. Cotton opened her eyes wondering if she had even been shot, her heart thumping in her chest. Suddenly the pain shot through her and a burning sensation devoured her leg. She held back the urge to yell as tears pricked her eyes. Sure it wasn’t gonna do much but it still hurt like hell.    

Beth turned away after pulling the trigger, closing her eyes and quickly shifting, becoming her usual self. Turning back around she looked down, feeling slightly guilty for what had happened. "I'm sorry, okay, you left me no other choice." She spoke quietly, stuffing the gun back into its holster, clicking the safety on as she did so. "Now come on, let's get this over with and hope we don't die." Her voice had turned hard again, her emotionless facade slipping back into place.

Cotton registered the look of disgust on the other’s face but she felt she needed to apologies. “Wait. don’t leave. I’m sorry I said that, but you haven’t exactly been nice to me…like at all really” she couldn’t stand the thought of leaving on such a bad note. 

Beth paused as she was asked to wait, before shaking her head. "Yeah, and why do you think that is, exactly?" She asked, though the question was more rhetorical than anything. She knew she was being unreasonable, but she had tried so many times to be nice, and it always came back to bite her.

Cotton sighed at the other’s response but she was in no position to argue. Her eyes watched the gun more closely than the girl. She listened to the plan made by what she now believed to be her psychotic acquaintance, her eye’s widening. Cotton had no clue how to respond, she wasn’t really in the mood to get shot. At first she laughed slightly, not taking the other girl seriously but realised quickly she wasn’t joking. Taking a deep breath, her gaze moved to face the other “I don’t really like this plan” Cotton expressed, worried.

Beth laughed at the worried comment, amused. "You should've thought about that before you tracked me." She commented, shrugging slightly. She didn't care that the other was now stuck in a bad position, it was her own fault afterall. "Now, I'm gonna shoot you in the leg, and you're gonna be silent or I swear to god I'll shoot you again but with a silver bullet." She added, fer voice commanding, showing there was no room for an argument, before pulling the trigger, shooting the girl's leg. "I'll take you somewhere to heal after, I promise."

Cotton noticed that ‘friends’ seemed to be a touchy subject and instantly felt bad but continued anyway. “Sureee. Then why are we still talking then, you could have walked away at any moment?” Cotton asked,smiling.

Beth's face twisted into somewhat of a sneer, growing more disgusted with the other by the minute. "I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Next time I just won't bother." She snapped, turning around, ready to walk away.

"What? How is that worse?" Cotton snapped back suddenly feeling defensive "plus i’m not an idiot". Cotton smile began to fade, as the other continued to swear at her. She still kinda wanted to know who Beth worked with but was it really worth getting killed over. Cotton watched the other girl closely as if waiting to be told what to do. Her eyes shot in the direction of the gun being raised in her direction once again, She hesitated wondering "Erm….It’ll hurt but they won’t do much damage" she answered slowly, her eyes locked on the gun "W-why?" 

"You're not an idiot? Really? You could've fooled me." Beth mocked, narrowing her eyes at the other girl, reaching into her back pocket and pulling out her silencer, twisting it onto the barrel of the gun. "I'm gonna shoot you in the leg, you're gonna stay silent and I'm gonna make you my hostage until my meeting is over." She explained, a small smirk growing on her face as she aimed the gun. "Any questions?"
