Ok I know I haven't posted here in like,, forever,, but I have a question. Did anyone else,, not particularly like how the climax for the last book got resolved? Or is it just me. Not going to go into why I didn't like it, yet anyway, just bc I'm genuinely not sure if I got locked into an interpretation and am having a hard time getting outside of it.

just finished the Blackthorn Key series which i started back when i was young and there were only three books out and now there are six........when i tell you it was such a delightful suspenseful romp...1600s london and paris, apothecaries and spies and bakers and murder mysteries told with a humorous and clever voice...i ate it UP even years later, so, bonus points as far as i'm concerned. LOVE coming back to an old friend (book), and it still being as lovely as wonderful, only with more story!

Obviously I'm a bit biased but Benedict is great!! He encourages Christopher's (the main character) interests, which is a big deal because he didn't get to have that before. He loves to teach Christopher new things, despite not all of them being directly involved in their jobs as apothecaries. He gave Christopher a choice to leave when he thought Christopher's life might be in danger. He also tried his best to keep Christopher away from murderers. His home and shop were probably the first place Christopher felt truly safe.

(Also Benedict deserved to have lived longer. He unfortunately died close to the beginning of the first book. He deserves something.)
