Thank you everyone for all of your questions!!!!!! I hope you had fun!!!! thank you again and this is Brian Fallon signing off! Have a great day everybody!
Do you find it easier to write from pain or happiness?
I find it’s better if I write when I’m in a good mood. If I write when I’m depressed, it all feels a little grim and not very exciting. I find when I’m in a better mood I can get a little clarity and reflection.
When is Painkillers out in the UK? Excited is an understatement! :)
March 11th! And thank you!
Have you ever thought about becoming an author?
I would love to write a book. Maybe one day. It’s definitely a dream of mine.
What song are you most excited about from your new solo album?
It’s too new to pick, right now I’m in love with the whole thing!
Ok, so can we get a Taylor/Brian collaboration? I'd buy that in a second!
Gotta ask the lady T. She’s the boss!
If you could only show some one one TGA song to say "this is what we're all about" which one would you pick?
WE CAME TO DANCE!
what's your favorite bruce song if I may ask?
Well, it’s hard to pick my favorite... BUT I love that song “Zero and Blind Terry” off the tracks album and also the song “For You.” - the piano version.
What song/album of Tori's would you most want to sing with her? I could totally see you on Pele.
Honestly, I would love to sing an old hymn with Tori because I know it would be an amazing juxtaposition.
I've seen a couple mentions of Taylor Swift on here. I think her presence in the music industry is fascinating. She's clearly mainstream, but people seem to respect her as an actual musician. Ryan Adams covered 1989, seeming to give a bit more credibility to that. I'm curious to know what you think, as a songwriter and musician, of her most recent pop-heavy record.
Taylor has a great story of how she started, you should look it up. She’s honestly a fantastic example of believing in your own talent and not taking no for an answer. She has my utmost respect.
What are three books that you feel helped you grow, as a person or an artist or both?
I would say for all three categories and this may sound silly, but it’s true for me, Great Expectations, Conversations with Tom Petty, and the Bible.
If you were a Tom Waits record, which one would you be?
ORPHANS!
Hi! I just wanted to ask, what do you feel about Taylor Swift removing her music from Spotify? Do you think that that's the right thing to do? Do you think all artists should do the same? Thanks :)
I think Taylor Swift is in a unique position to make calls that most of us could not make. I support her choices for her own work, but for me I would have my music anywhere and everywhere that would have me. I do enjoy Spotify myself, so I’m not opposed to it at all.
Besides Florence, who else would you love to play with? I think you and Pete Yorn would make a pretty good gruesome twosome.
I’ll play with pete torn anyway! he’s awesome!
I’d love to sing with Tori Amos.
how did you get involved with the punk scene?
When I was really young, I got into BMX and there was a guy named Brian who had played Operation Ivy in his car while we were all riding our bikes and it absolutely blew my mind. I thought it was the best thing I ever heard in my life. It took me about six months to track down that CD. Then i started going to local shows and VFW hall shows.
What caused the shift in music in Get Hurt, when Gaslight's other albums are pretty consistent in themes, style and genre? Big fan of your work Brian, really helped me through some hard times
I think we all wanted to keep growing and trying new things because we knew we couldn’t just do the same thing over and over again. As musicians we always try to push forward and expand what we do.
