Xiin was careful to mask any surprise on her face when he shifted form, remaining deadpan. She raised her stubby tail when he started snarling. Snarling at a God- she wouldn’t have that!
The deity didn’t speak at first, mulling over what she was going to say in her head. “I should be asking you the same question. How is it you have the power to change as my Brother does- that power should be reserved for Gods alone.”
She decided that she wouldn’t be.. bullied by a mere mortal.
Kaleb snorted and took a few steps closer to the female./
“I am a shifter and was born with this ability. It is part of who I am as is my beast that resides within with my own soul. Who are you and what is your purpose for trespassing?” he spat out in return as his beast within his mind growled to be let loose.
They did not like confrontation and his wolf did not like anyone challenging his being.
“Do you claim to be a God? No one can shift their form like my Brother can. You are mortal. You cannot be born with that power, and Akina has not fathered children who could be born with that ability.” She was still on high alert, growling.
He was still challenging her! The ignorance- Her temper was making her lose focus. She centered herself. Calm down, remain collected. She stopped her snarling, still retaining a dominant posture. “I go where I please. I am a God. I see the future, past, and present.“
Kaleb snorted at her haughtiness, and took a confident step forward, his veridian eyes glowing with his boldness.
“I don’t claim to be anything other than what I am, but if only gods are shifters like myself then perhaps I might be. I was born with this gift though and I will not tolerate being called a liar.” he growled out to prove his point with a slight baring of his gleaming white fangs.
She stayed dominant in her posture, and retaliated with showing off her own fangs. “You are no God. You do not belong with my siblings, you would be with us if you did. I do not know how you got the power to change shape.”
“My brother can change into the shape of any animal, and if you cannot do that, you are no God.”
“Samirah? A.. interesting if uncommon name.” Thanatos say down as well, laying it’s lamp down at its paws. “I am in all dreams. They are relaxing, calming. I like to see what the mortals dream of during life.”
It shuffled, laying down as well. Thanatos was no enemy. It was one of the more gentle gods, despite being a rather large canine. “I only see the dead. That is my role.”
It was the ferry to the afterlife. A sort of reaper, guiding lost souls who strayed too far off the path to the afterlife that awaited every canine- no matter how they behaved in life. Every canine lives with the gods in the end, often the one they followed in life if they’re lucky enough.
Thanatos was seen in a negative light. It’s part of the realm was often empty. But, it had a mate there. One it had known while she was alive- and came with him after she died.
Samirah and her beast watched carefully as the other rested, showing peace to their position. There was no threat and the beast knew that now.
Letting her rational side take over the wolf slowly began to lengthen out, paws turning to clawed hands and a muzzle shortening into a feminine human face. Piercing green eyes softened into a sea foam shade and short auburn blonde hair grew into a long curling mass that reaching down to the now human body’s hips. Her mind was able to provide clothing, a simple emerald floor length gown with loose billowing sleeves, as she shifted while in reality she would have been without.
She remained sitting on the floor, her legs tucked underneath her body as her hands rested lightly in her lap.
“Why do you come to my dreams then? We are not a simple mortal human. Were usually don’t have any contact with others not of our realms. Am I close to my end and that is why you visit us?” Samirah soft voice spoke, her lips frowning at the thought of departing her kin and pack as she turned saddened eyes to this god of her kinds ancestors.
Thanatos tilted it’s head at the change. That was… strange. Very strange. It had not seen a creature like that. Like a large dog with fur only on it’s head and no ears to speak of. It sniffed the air- no, her scent had not changed along with her appearance.
Human? Was that what she was? It hadn’t heard of a human before. Akina and Teja had often mentioned large, hairless dogs before though. Ones who had existed far before Thanatos’ time, before canines were dominant.
. It’s ear twitched. “No, you are not. You intrigued me.” Someone as.. strange as her was not something it had seen much before. “What is human?” He decided to ask.
Samirah’s body relaxed as he replied but the question he asked next piqued her interest.
“A Human?” She repeated a bit confused before she continued slowly, “Well this form I take is human if only on the outside. They are mortal, come in different shapes and form like canines but with less fur and no claws or fangs. They have short blunt nails and teeth and only walk on two legs, not four. They are much like pups, always curious and wandering where they shouldn’t. Where I come from they sometimes even have mastery over canines that are not so dominant or intelligent. They sleep half the day and spend the other half playing or eating. They live shorter lives than my kind and have a lot of rules they often end up breaking.”
She hoped she was answering him correctly, her knowledge on basic humans not very large since her kind differed from them somewhat. Her hands fidgeted in her lap and played with the ends of her curls, twisting them around the individual digits slowly.
It inclined it’s head in interest. “That is... interesting.” Thanatos had seen many things, but humans were not counted among those. “Akina and Teja, my brothers, have often told me their appearance. But neither knew much outside that. Humans have been extinct for more moons than I can count.”
Mastery over canines? That didn’t make sense, not for creatures with the demeanour of a pup. “Mastery? Pups do not become Alpha. That is strange.” And the rules... yes, packs had rules in place, but they were seldom broken. Breaking them meant making the pack’s chances of survival much lower, and that was not a good thing.
The Scarred One watched this... strange creature in her territory. The nerve of it- intruding in her sanctuary! It was the only place she could get away from her family.
Not that they were bad, but even Gods needed to be alone once in a while. Despite the intrusion she was.. hesitant to attack this one. Normall, she wouldn’t think twice, but this one looked like no other creature she had seen. It could be another God- though she didn’t get that scent all too much.

. It’s ear twitched. “No, you are not. You intrigued me.” Someone as.. strange as her was not something it had seen much before. “What is human?” He decided to ask.
It watched her. She looked enough like a wolf to be one but… this was strange. Normally it knew what family a canine hailed from, all the gods did by heart, but it knew nothing about her at a first glance. She was a complete stranger.
It followed her for a time, not regarding stealth. You couldn’t hide in someone else’s dream, god or not. They always sensed if something else was there. And this female seemed to be no exception, as she turned towards it.
Thanatos lowered it’s head, tail down. It was a guest in her domain, best be polite. slowly, it approached. It answered her silent question. "I am Thanatos. I rule over guidance and fate for all canines. Normally, a mortal such as you would know that. But you do not seem like the others. Who… are you?" It’s voice was low and soft, Thanatos was not used to being vocal.
"We don’t take the time to memorize all gods or beings above our station in other realms not our own. We only rule over what is ours and our kin and remember what is needed to survive. We are Samirah, Female Ruler of the Eastern Kindgom of man and changeling alike that we call Castle Ren. Why are you here in our dream Thanatos god?" Samirah’s beast replied as she lowered her body to lay upon the leaf covered ground.
Her tail twitched slowly back and forth in curiosity but her human half called for caution, still not knowing whether it would be better to shift back to her more rational side for conversation or to stay in the shape she was strongest in if it came to a fight. Intruders in dreams weren’t always what they claimed, having met a hawk changeling who could control others by their dreams as his gift. She was lucky he was claimed by her own pack before he could be possessed by another, possibly an enemy.
This Thanatos was a threat here in a world she could only control mentally and not physically. This body was only the state her mentality could take and would not fare well if damaged too bad. Maybe she should let the Human out to talk, her rational side as she called it would handle this better than her beast could.
“Samirah? A.. interesting if uncommon name.” Thanatos say down as well, laying it’s lamp down at its paws. “I am in all dreams. They are relaxing, calming. I like to see what the mortals dream of during life.”

Thanatos was seen in a negative light. It’s part of the realm was often empty. But, it had a mate there. One it had known while she was alive- and came with him after she died.
Xiin watched the boy. She tilted her head. A canine? No, not quite.
He had gotten her curious, and she stepped out to follow him with a mortal visage in place. There was no need to get her presence known. She stalked silently behind him.
With eyes closed and head tilted to scent the light blowing breeze, Kaleb took in the area around him. It was night time and the moon was only half full, giving a little light here and there where the trees allowed. He wanted to go running but was always cautious when he ventured out alone without his pack mates or sibling. His viridian eyes scanned in front and off the sides, watching carefully for any sign of life.
"Guess its as good as any time…" he muittered after he thought he had checked the area and began walking, shedding his clothing one piece at a time as he did. Shifting was always easier when he wasn’t dressed.
Why was she even down here? She had no business in mortal affairs.
But this… canine on two legs interested her. He looked like the other hairless ones. But he smelled different. Xiin continued trailing behind him, light purple eyes watching him.
That was the only indication something was… off about her. She looked like an ordinary doberman until you saw her eyes.
IN a blink he was in his true form, long limbs stretching out to prepare for a good sprint. His sharp claws buried themselves into the earth, his paws feeling the familiar ground around him as his ears listened for any unknown noises. Taking in a deep breath of air, a scent of another hit him and alerted him to possible danger. Slitted viridian eyes scanned the area and spotted a doby hiding a ways away but still close enough to trail his being. A deep growl, low but loud enough to be heard, resonated through clenched fangs, tail raising high to signal his knowing of the other and alertness.
"Who are you and why do you follow?" Kaleb growled out suspicious and on edge, not liking that he hadn’t noticed the presence before he shifted.
Xiin was careful to mask any surprise on her face when he shifted form, remaining deadpan. She raised her stubby tail when he started snarling. Snarling at a God- she wouldn’t have that!
