STANDING IN MY CARDIGAN...

My Engagement Story:

All week Victor and I have been planning on renting a car to get out of the house. Quarantine and working remotely have us both living in our studio apartment with just each other all the time. We just wanted to get some fresh air, maybe a bit to eat, and have a date day.

Friday night I was NOT feeling it. It was supposed to be cold and rainy the next day. We were planning on going to the beach, as it was one of the few things open, and it seemed pointless to go out there if there is no sunshine. We talked about needing a date though, and I really wanted an occasion to dress up, so we persisted. That's when I decided to use the press on nails I bought for an award show last year that I never got to use. If we were going on a date, that felt like a good enough reason to have fancy nails. Remember, there is still 25% of me or so that wanted to call the whole thing off.

Saturday morning I threw on some warm clothes, put some makeup on my face and we headed to the beach, my favorite beach El Matador in Malibu. We laid down a blanket and cracked open a couple drinks and soaked up what ended up being a real sunshiney kinda day.

I had asked Vic if he would take a few Instagram shots for me. So I posed in front of the ocean. Coyly smiling back at him with the waves ahead of me. After a few snaps he told me he had an idea for a picture and to look towards the waves crashing into the beach rocks. I turned away for just a moment when I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see Vic on bended knee.

Any concerns Vic had that I was on to him immediately disappeared when tears filled up my eyes, and I stood there in a moment that I never wanted to end. He loved me, and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me...stay there.

Moral of the story, if you want to feel fancy but are hesitant to leave the house, put on press on nails - just in case. I can't wait to marry my best friend. He gave me the perfect engagement. Here is me right before and after I became an engaged woman. Cheers!
