This zine came about in a foggy spring night when I discovered the super shitty flash of my phone camera. It turned the pictures all misty and mysterious, kinda lo-fi too, which I loved. So I made a zine out of that aesthetic. There are some words by Beach House and Joanna Newsom in there. Strangely enough, I haven’t been able to recreate the effect since then. Maybe it was the fog, maybe a reminder of the impermanence of things and that everything just happens once. 

Dieses Zine entstand in einer nebligen Frühlingsnacht, in der ich den unglaublich beschissenen Blitz meiner Handykamera entdeckte. Mit ihm wurden alle Bilder verwaschen und mysteriös, auch etwas lo-fi, was mir so gefiel, dass ich aus der Ästhetik ein Zine bastelte. Ein paar Zeilen von Joanna Newsom und Beach House finden sich auch darin. Seltsamerweise ist es mir seitdem nicht gelungen, den Effekt zu wiederholen. Vielleicht war es der Nebel, vielleicht eine Erinnerung daran, dass alle Dinge nur einmal passieren.

When you grin with your cutsey sign about how you’re not a feminist, you ignorantly spit on the sacred struggle of the past 200 years. You bite the hand that has fed you freedom, safety, and a voice. In short, kiss my ass, you ignorant little jerks.”

Seems like IKEA are really shaking things up this year. In addition to the previously announced TV set, they’re also going to release a digital camera made of cardboard called Knäppa (“Snap”). It’ll hold 40 photographs at a time and plugs directly into your USB port. While it’s not the prettiest camera the world has ever seen, I do love the idea of a screen-less digital camera that brings people back to the wait-and-see days of film.

Beauty or brains? 

Fuck that, it’s not a dichotomy. Let’s not act like mascara glues girls eyes so shut that they can’t read a word of Dickens or solve a trig problem. Let’s talk about how no boy has ever been asked if he’d rather get his Bachelor’s or get married; no boy has ever been told that he’s too handsome to run for office. So why cover up my tits so you can take me seriously?
