El Infiernito is a series of monoliths or menhirs (potentially a henge, though itās hard to say) in Boyaca, Colombia. Carved from pink sandstone, a total of 109 monoliths have been excavated from the earth. The pattern of discovery indicated that an East-West orientation, meant to align with the Muisca calendar.
Also thought to have been a centre of religious ceremony and spiritual purification to the pre-Columbian culture Muisca, the pattern of construction hinted at by the excavations has left many postulating that the site doubles as an astronomical observatory. Unfortunately, the central column, originally mentioned when the site was discovered in 1850 and described as having matched the sunās astronomical alignment during the equinoxes, is long missing. There are, however, other columns positioned at 91 degree angles that very closely point to the rise of the sun in periods of equinox as well. So there may be credence to this suspicion.
The siteās name, āEl Infiernitoā is Spanish for āLittle Hell.ā The site owes its names to the Spanish Conquistadors who first saw it. They thought it was diabolical, labelling it as a site of Pagan worship
What Iāve yet to see, however, is an explanation for the scoring around the top of the menhirs that make the monoliths look so phallic.

āI am now 73 years old. I was at Indian residential school from age 11-15. I had to work in the infirmary, where there were many sick and hungry children. Iād steal food like peanut butter and bread to feed them. A lot of kids died there. I had to handle the dead children ā wrapping them to be buried. Once I got caught speaking my native language. I wasnāt aware my language was different. My punishment was having four fingernails pulled out. At residential school we all received numbers. I was known as #702. But my name is Sphenia. Itās an Ojibwa name that means āon my wayā. For many years now Iāve worked as an advocate for abused children. I started a school for indigenous kids in Vancouver called Spirit Rising Cultural Survival School.ā
