The Man Who Fell to Earth
I love this completely unguarded shot of David. This was taken at the end of a particularly long and grueling day of interior shooting under hot lights. I took this in between cameras rolling with only one light source and no flash; I like the combination of Bowieās hair tone and the orange glow given off by the lamp.

I've literally used tumblr solely to follow new lady-friendly porn blogs over the last eight months so I come back, scroll through my feed and realise I am wading through a lake of fucking.

Native Woman JosieVF Arrested for Burning Sage in Denver CO at Trump Rally.Ā
Ironically the cop arresting her had chewing tobacco in his mouth. Native to Americas, but she canāt burn sage, so much for āreligious freedomā.
Iām confused as to how people can legally walk around with guns, but not sage.
Freedom is conditional
These demons donāt want to be cleansed
Reminder that this was in the same state where, less than a year ago, a man in Colorado Springs shot and killed three people who were just minding their own business on the sidewalk. A woman had actually called the police, alarmed that the (white) shooter had a gunā¦and was told by the operatorĀ āThis is an open carry state, he is not committing a crime.ā So to recap, Native woman burning sage=BAD CRIMINAL WHO MUST BE STOPPED, (white) man with large gun=perfectly harmless citizen who shouldnāt be imposed upon by a police visit. This makes me so ashamed of my home state.Ā (Source on the above because I know it sounds ridiculous but it is true:Ā https://news.vice.com/article/911-operator-allegedly-cited-open-carry-law-and-refused-to-send-cops-before-colorado-shooting-spree)Ā
Iād hate to be a party pooper, but as a Native woman, this all makes me seriously uncomfortable.
If the Hogwarts mascots were a lion, a snake, a badger, and a raven, all real animals, why do these new ones have to be religious creatures? Also, the Hogwarts houses all had fanciful made up names but these are legitimate names of creatures Indigenous peoples believed in. Doesnāt that seem a little ethnocentric to anyone?
And the whole āindigenous magic but i canāt say which tribeā bullshit? Seriously? No, itās not like we arenāt all thrown into a cultural stereotype by white people all the damn time.
So glad I never got into Harry Potter, or this could have been heartbreaking.
If you ever wondered what cultural appropriation looks like, it looks kinda like this.
I donāt have any energy left to rant more about this entire shitbundle of āno, leave your hands outta my cultureā that is Rowlingās new venture. So Iāll just second what other Native folks are saying.
And because itās come up many, many times already: This is not the same as using Greek or Norse myths in fantasy, and if you try and make them equivalent youāre absolutely blind. Native Americans are still alive and still practicing their faith despite centuries of outside oppression; a wealthy white lady from across the Atlantic saying that all of their (ātheirā being a vague āall Natives are one cultureā mess, which weāll get into elsewhere) actual beliefs are just as much a part of her made-up pretend universe as all of her fictional nonsense is immensely harmful. It reeks of what can only be described as cultural imperialism.
This might be slightly more excusable if sheād actually done any research on actual Native American tribes beyond just cribbing from various disparate sources or if sheād been bold enough to say āJesus was a wizard,ā but that might actually offend the people she cares about.
