New blog intro, I’m Crescent. (they/she/he) SaSi was my special interest and comfort media as a tween and I cannot seem to grow out of it. For almost all the time I’ve been into this show I’ve had ocs made to be my own sides, at this point this story has grown into The Crescent Mind au, an alternate universe based on if the plot of SaSi happened to my self insert instead of Thomas’. I roleplay as the characters sometimes (intro to that element of the blog) and I hope to make a fanfic of their story eventually. This blog was created for that au but I also use it to reblog or post about SaSi in general.

Other than Sanders Sides I like comics/manga/webcomics, indie animation, musical theatre, and horror media. Feel free to ask about specific fandoms.

I don’t have a dni because I don’t think they work (I’ll just block people) but I’m a pro endo system and may occasionally engage in ts-crit. I have complicated and mixed opinions on a lot of subjects, you can ask but be polite. Also I’m a minor, don’t be weird.

Ive been thinking a lot about the way remus tends to be characterized in fanfics, specially ones where hes not 'unsympathetic' or in like an antagonist role, and one thing that I find really interesting is that hes often characterized as like. guileless? genuine? actually not having any kind of filter? its like people just kinda believe him when he describes himself as honest or as a manifestation of something that Thomas has been repressing, but the whole point of the episode in which he was introduced is that hes not that. hes intrusive thoughts, hes basically just saying and doing random shit

EXCEPT hes not doing that either, thats why i expressed bafflement for the idea that he just genuinely has no filter. he very deliberately says awful things to be upsetting, and i would argue that he has just as much of a capacity for manipulation as Janus. my evidence for this is the fact that Janus in SvS and Remus in DWIT both basically say the exact same shit to Thomas to make him feel guilty ("looks like your moral compass is pointing south. towards hell!" vs "the kind of mind you'll only find in hell"), theres not really a lot of difference in their base behaviour, in these episodes their most significant differences are arguably the fact that Janus cant force Thomas to lie to achieve his goals while Remus can force him to have intrusive thoughts (and he doesnt really have a goal or like a forseeable endpoint with his shenanigans). also, there was that bit where Remus starts off a sentence by being like "Its like gently nudging a baby bird to leave the nest" and Thomas is like "oh wow, a metaphor thats not insanely unpleasant, maybe theres hope for you yet!" and then Remus continues with a description of the baby bird dying horribly, its like. he clearly did that on purpose, he knew where this was going when he started that sentence, he wanted to create a sense of hope within in order to crush it so that he could provoke a strong emotional reaction. My point here being, Remus is capable of being manipulative and even of having restraint so it bothers me when hes characterized in a way that suggests he wouldnt be capable of either of those

Does anyone else remember a livestream that happened shortly after wtit where quill (iirc) and thomas were talking abt remus in that video and how his and logan's methods work, and quill asked thomas, sort of to the side, "do you wanna talk about what remus had actually written on the 'to do' list?" And they said it so casually it seemed like it was gonna be a joke just to be silly during filming. But then thomas actually paused for several seconds, thinking about it, then said very definitively "no, actually, I don't" and quill seemed kinda surprised but they moved on. I have never forgotten that moment bc what was on that to-do list. What was it Sanders. Why did u think so hard about whether or not u wanted to share it. If it was a jokey thing just for filming or even if it was an in-universe typical remus thing to say abt sex or something gross, then he could've just said it on the livestream no problem. But he didnt say it on the livestream, he had to think if it was something he wanted to share, which means it's not a Joke it's a Secret Thing. What did Remus suggest to Logan that c!Thomas should do that day. What did Remus say that Logan found so overwhelming he didn't even respond to it. And what do u have planned for the story that means that piece of information had to be a secret

knowing this, going back to closeups of the list, the paper is actually quite thin as can be seen in just basic screenshots of it. there's faintly another list behind the updog one.

i don't know the best ways to make text like this clearer, which is part of why i'm posting these screenshots in case anyone else wants to have a go, but just messed around with the levels for a bit and like

that 100% says to reckon with, right?

anyway i may mess around with it a bit more to try and read some of the actual list (harder with the smaller overlapping text) but we know what the title is at least!
