“The Spear of Lugh,” from A Circle of Stones: Journeys & Meditations for Modern Celts (Erynn Rowan Laurie)
Translation:
And may Lugh kind-[bright], strong-[bright], red-[bright] Preserve thee, protect thee, provide for thee, With the might of his hand, with the point of his spear, Under the shade of his shimmering shield.
(The author translates “gheal” as “white,” but when I’ve seen this word in other contexts, it has meant “bright” or “brilliant,” and I find that more appropriate.)

Using Empty Essential Oil Bottles
If you’re like me and use a lot of EO in your practice, you’re bound to have a few empty bottles lying around. Here are a few tips and ideas on how to get use out of them.
🌾One of my absolute favorite things to do is to submerse recently emptied bottles in Epsom Salts. The Salts will soak up the remaining liquid and smell, making fantastic bath salts!
🌾After peeling off the labels and washing them, you can use EO bottles to collect rain water or make charged water! It’s especially fun to make new labels if you use them in this way.
🌾You can keep special herbs in them, and repurpose them to be part of your Apothecary!
🌾This is something I haven’t tried, but theoretically, you could fill them up with salt or dirt or beads and make a little incense holder!
🌾You could make altar decorations!

Seriously, the possibilities are endless! Go nuts making stuff you guys!!!! ✨
Never thought of these! Thank you! :D
Unpacking Witchcraft - Spell Types
A spell is a manifestation of intents, ingredients, and influences combined to bring about an intangible effect. However, there are a number of different of types of spells, intents, and methods.
CURSE— A spell designed to cause a person or place harm or misfortune of a grand scale. Occasionally used to protect when it used against a concept, “cursing out” infections and medical problems.
HEX— Commonly thought as similar to a curse, though it comes from a German word for witch. Commonly interpreted as a weaker curse, or a midpoint between a jinx and a curse on a scale of annoying to devastating.
JINX— A spell to cause momentary bad luck or annoyance, but can occasionally come back to bite someone later. Usually paired with irony, or used to bring about the opposite effect of what someone says out loud or hopes for.
BANISHING— A type of spell, designed to get rid of something specific, whether it be a concept, a person, spirit, or otherwise, and to keep it away.
WARDING— A type of protective spell in which you create and put up magical walls, usually against a specific thing, such as spirits or negative people, but could be used for evangelicals and teenagers that theoretically loiter on your lawn.
BINDING— Similar to banishing. Instead of removing a person, object, or situation from your vicinity, you prevent a person or creature from performing a particular action.
GLAMOUR— Often used for beauty spells, are a type of spell used for creating an illusion over a person or object. They can be used for a number of purposes, to make someone more attract, or to make an object harder to find, or a person be more or less likely to be noticed.
CONSECRATION— The ritual blessing of an object or place by cleansing it and instilling with a specific energy. Cannot be done to living creatures.
POTION— Any drink made to have a magical effect.
JAR SPELL— A spell made and contained within a jar, often herb sealed with wax.
these are just a few types, feel free to add your own!

Reading up on sea witch spells and seeing people suggest putting offerings in bottles and letting the sea carry then away.
This upsets me.
It’s littering. Please leave your offerings on something that’s not harmful to the environment. A sea shell, rock or even just on the beach. Please don’t use anything that could cause harm to the ocean or its inhabitants. Thank you!
Not to hijack, but all offerings in natural spaces should be planned to be safe for the environment it’s going into. This is why I’m partial to offerings of water or other consumable fluids–if it’s safe to go in my belly, it’s probably safe to pour over some plants.
Yes. Stop telling people to bury things in jars, particularly . Bury things in (unbleached) paper towels, or the insides of bell peppers. And don’t bury things that won’t degrade. There are so many ways to do witchcraft that doesn’t involve burying things that won’t decompose!! If you can, opt to recycle the item, or better yet, just change out all your spell ingredients for stuff that is eco-friendly and able to rot if buried. Srsly.
THANK YOU!
to add: making bowls or balls of ice to bury or to be carried awayby the sea. Use unbleached paper towels or banana peels(if it’s safe) to write your spell on, etc. There are many safe ways to do magic without littering.
You can also use cabbage leaves and cotton kitchen string in place of a jar, or write your spell on a piece of un-coated (like not metallic, etc.) paper and fold it into an origami creature because the paper will degrade
Eco friendly witchery tips. :)

☽Empath Protection Jar☾
I needed a jar like this for my gift for sooo long, being an empath is such a blessing and a curse. I’ve lately suffered through more problems taking in negative energy and I feel as though I need to add some protection regarding that. And I so did!
Ingredients:
A jar(small preferrably)
Chamomile infused olive oil - Peace and Security
Taglock of yourself (hair, blood, nail clippings)
A pinch of:
Salt - Purification
Black pepper - Protection
Basil - dispels weakness
Cinnamon - Strength
Sage - Purify
Clove - banish Negative forces
Coffee - dispel negative thoughts
Dandelion leaf - healing and defeating negativity
Bay - Healing, strengthening psychic abilities.
1. Invoke your deities or anything that can help you create it.
2. Put all of the ingredients together and while doing so you recite and repeat:
“I protect myself, As this gift can harm, Shall I be balanced, Give power to this charm.”
3. Once it’s together, seal it with wax (I chose black since it corresponds with absorbing negativity, purple works too.)
4. Visualize and meditate!

How do did you connect with pagan gods? I’d like to know kemetic ones but I have no idea how to reach them. Advice?
Well, I was basically introduced to pagan gods by a friend who works with them. That same week one of the deities appeared in my dreams, and then I started to see signs of different deities in my life all around... so that was that.
My advice for you would be to make an offering (bread and water is always good, but look into offerings specific to the deity you would like to address) and speak to them directly. Respectfully tell them why you would like to connect with them, if you are willing to do anything in their honor (making an altar, offerings, community service, art, anything), and go from there. If you know any form of divination, that can help you know if your proposal was accepted. If not, just go with your gut and do what feels right :)
Bast is looking beautiful as always!
I’ve started a journal to record my experiences when speaking with the Netjeru and such - half to remember all that happened (I have the memory of a gnat) and half to reflect. I made my first entry today and it’s proved to do just as it’s intended to :)
Spirit Houses
I haven’t seen any posts about it, so here goes.
We as people tend to dramatise spirits. (Especially Americans let’s not even lie, there’s a huge culture around occultism and ouija and all that shit that’s been blown out of proportions.)
“They’re all evil! They must be gone, exorcised, banished!”
“DON’T PLAY OUIJA YOU’LL GET POSSESSED BY AN EVIL DEMON CREATURE.”
The truth is, a lot spirits don’t even know or care that you’re there, they have a right to be there and were probably there before you. Possessions are really, really rare. Legit ones that is.
However, minor hauntings, such as things being knocked over, spirits nicking things and putting them elsewhere, banging on walls and such aren’t really a threat, and more of an annoyance. So there’s no need to call the exorcist and put fear and negative energy into it (because the spirit feeds off your fear and only grows stronger.)
Trust me, if the haunting was really serious, it would be much more than banging or losing things.
So! How to deal with a minor haunting without getting your exorcist mallet out? The answer is simple: Build a spirit house.
Offer the noisy or cheeky spirit a home. A space of their own that they keeps them occupied and content.
There are tons of methods to build spirit houses, may it be in skulls/bones from other animals, large jars, little doll houses, an intricate structure of thread stretched over a frame, a woven cage of wicker, anything! It depends on what you can provide and also what the spirit may want/need.
The interior decor varies just as much. From a little zen garden to a shiny little room fill with mirrors, and pretty things, it depends again on what you feel is necessary. The idea is to provide the spirit with something that’ll keep it occupied through it’s beauty, intricacy or shiny qualities. Keep them amused. So make an intricate little doll house, or a miniature garden, or a mirror room, it’s up to you!
Once that’s said and done, invite the spirit into it’s home and welcome them there. From there, the annoyance should stop and the spirit may even become willing to aid you in your magical workings!
Next time, consider that before being scared out of your wit and feeding bad energy into it. Sometimes, call it takes is a little compromise!
Oh, and PRETTY PLEASE send me pictures of your spirit homes! I’d love to see them.

Witchy Tip
To charge and activate sigils trace them with a crystal point. You can use clear quartz for anything but if you want to get specific you can use Tigers Eye to activate and charge a protection sigil or use your own correspondences.
