Pan was a boy who only had the rules that he'd made himself. And because he'd made them himself, they could always change. He was as vain and changeable as the wind, and as flatterable.

He hadn't been that way before Neverland, or not as much. He didn't like to think about the grownup time. Boys didn't have to deal with grownup problems. Normally, he didn't leave Neverland. What could he find anywhere else that he couldn't find there? But every so often, the stars aligned just right and he was free. And, well, why not?

Neverland was a land of dreams. Often he walked through the dreams of the boys who visited - never stayed. Sometimes he wanted them to stay, and he sent his Shadow out after them. And sometimes he just wanted to play.

This was one of those latter nights. Pan was a musician, and recognized the gift of music in others. And he'd found a wonderful game to play, taking up the mantle of the Angel of Music! He piped for several nights in a row into the dreams of this young boy. And this night, he came, piping more softly and enticingly and enthrallingly than ever.

He crept to the sides of Erik's cage. "Hello, my child," he said gravely. He was covered up in long patched robes and hood that hid his face and figure.
