i thought the season finale was going to be cute and happy so i binge watched the last 3 eps while currently in exam season and it rendered me absolutely useless for a day i just lay in bed staring at my ceiling at 5am running to the casts social media handles and looking for an estimated date for season 2 and then just wallowing around the house thinking about how absolutely MESSED UP THIS IS

You yawned as you saved and exited out of a chatroom. Jeez, your sleeping schedule really hates you whenever you decide to play Mystic Messenger. But as always, itâs worth it to you.
2am, wow. Thatâs the latest youâve gotten to sleep early when playing the otome game. But once youâre about to exit out of the app, you receive a call from the messenger.
707 is calling you.
..what?
Youâve played Zenâs route a couple of times already and you canât remember this specific chatroom even having a phone call after itâs done. You blinked before pressing on the accept call, looking down at the English words translated.
âHey.. you should be sleeping.â A chuckle came from his end.
But instead of hearing Sevenâs korean voice.. you heard english.
This really couldnât be happening. You thought maybe you heard wrong, but then he spoke to you again.
âYouâre not replyinggggggggg, come on, space partner. I can hear your breathing, you weirdo.â
You sighed before lifting your phone to look at the options, only to find none available. You titled your head, wondering how you were supposed to reply. Until a box had appeared on the screen.
âSpeak into the phone like an actual phone call! Seven can hear your voice.â
⊠okay⊠now this is really weird.
You cleared your throat before lifting your phone to your ear, acting like it was a real life phone call.
â..Seven?â You replied.
âOh finally, I was wondering when youâd answer. You should be sleeping, dummy.â His voice immediately replied.
A small laugh escaped your lips, causing him to heat up on his end.
Seven knows heâs not supposed to mess with the rules of the game. He knows he shouldnât have called you and he knows.. he shouldnât be trying to pursue you either.
But can you honestly blame him?
You were so perfect in his eyes. Someone he desperately wanted. Yet, couldnât have.
Finally, you had time to play the game again. And he really missed you so seeing that youâve logged in made him excited.
That is.. until you picked the causal story and pursued Zen.
Why Zen?
I mean, Itâs not as if Seven hates him, no itâs the complete opposite. Zen is his family and heâs always thinking about him. But it just didnât seem fair.
Saeyoung followed the rules.
He gave up his life for his brother, he became an agent to support him and his brother, he gave up a comfortable life in settling down, he gave up the safety he once hadâ
Why should Seven have to give you up?
âLook whoâs talking, you should be sleeping too, Mr. Secret Agent.â You laughed into the phone shortly after.
Mystic Messenger was a game that made you feel safe. Not only did it have adoring characters but it provided a feeling of safety for you, especially when it came to Seven.
âAhh, youâre threatening a secret agent now, huh. Guess Iâll just have to arrest you.â
âYou canât do that, dummy.â Another laugh.
Yea, you were perfect alright. He smiled into his phone, grateful that for once, he did something selfish and disobeyed the rules of the game and all because Seven wanted to hear his favorite playerâs voice, you.
Seven doesnât know why exactly heâs attracted to a single player. If you asked him, heâd probably come up with some cheesy pick up line or tell you how you matched the brightness in the late night sky that he enjoys so much.
âPfft- how are you doing, tonight? So, Zen, huh? Iâm sensing some explosive chemistry there.â
But he continued to be supportive because thatâs part of his programming.. being supportive of Mcâs decisions. After all, if you were going to marry him in the space station, support in each other as partners was necessary..
âIâm good, Seven. Also haha, donât be weird. You know Jaehee would be upset about it.â You replied causally.
âDonât let Jaehee stop you,â you could hear him bite into an apple, grateful he was eating something healthy this time, âsheâs not the boss of your life.â He shrugged.
âNo she doesnât, but Iâd feel like a shitty friend. Whether Jaehee likes him or doesnât romantic wise, I canât seem to understand how her as a fan wants to keep Zen single. Isnât it a bit..â
âPfft- selfish?â
âI didnât say that! No!â
âBut you were thinking it.â He started laughing again.
The laughter quieted down and you both sat in the comfortable silence, Seven enjoying that he finally got to hear your beautiful voice. It was so sweet, everything he ever imagined it to be. Honey covered words with a tone of utter sugar.
âSo. Why are you awake, space partner?â He spoke to you again, wanting to hear your voice once more.
âI just finished a chatroom. I didnât want to have to wake up early just to finish it again.â You sighed, hating that some chats were at 2am.
You didnât realize what your words meant. Seven nodded across the phone, understanding that playing the game late was common among players.
âBrutal. Just buy more hourglasses, dummy.â
âUgh no. Way too overpriced.â You chuckled, acting as if you were talking to a friend.
It seemed as if you had forgotten that Saeyoung Choi was a game character in an otome game you loved.
âOverpriced?,â he laughed, âthen trade the hearts you get for hourglasses.â
âSee I would, but I want a high number of hearts-â
âYouâre stubborn.. itâs cute.â ïżŒHe smiled into the phone.
âYouuu are cuter.â You softly replied, feeling a bit of confidence in your words.
A peaceful silence set over you two again, Saeyoung sighing as he realized he needed to let you sleep.
âAlright Iâm gonna leave, you need sleep and I have work to do.â He could hear a pretty yawn that escaped your lips.
âYea thatâs fair. I need to be up early anyway for something tomorrow.â You nodded into the phone.
âGoodnight Saeyoung,â you said his real name without thinking, âsleep well and donât stay up too late, dummy.â You gave a small chuckle.
He didnât say anything for a few seconds. You heard typing before hearing his voice once more.
âGoodnight.. y/n. I love you. Call me more often.. space partner. Hereâs to hoping you donât get too frustrated when Echo Girl tries to ruin Zenâs career again in his route.â The call ended with a laugh on his end. You looked at your screen, eyes widening as you finally realized.
You had been on the phone with Saeyoung Choi, a fictional character in mystic messenger about not only the game.. but he called you by your name and not Mc.
You quickly went to the phone calls, checking to see if it actually existed. And sitting there on the screen was a phone call with the hacker himself that you had for a few minutes. His calling card was no longer five hourglasses. Instead, a number was displayed and you could press on it with it immediately calling him.
A single text is what left you even more stunned.
Saeyoung: So much for not falling in love with a player.. I enjoy our time together, y/n. I mean it, space partner, you better call me, I didnât make my calling card free for nothing. I love you. Enjoy Zenâs route.
Reread your old writing, especially those scenes youâre most proud of
Write something silly. It doesnât need to be logical, consistent or included in your story. Write something dumb
Compare your old writing to your new writing. Seeing how much youâve improved can be very motivating
Explore different storylines, those type of storylines that would never make it into your story, but youâd still like to play around with. Create AUs!
Choose one of your least favorite scenes and rewrite it
Act out your scenes
Read old comments from people praising your work
Create a playlist that reminds you of your wip
Team up with a friend, write AUs for each other's characters
Create playlists for your characters
Draw your ocs/make memes of your ocs
Draw/make memes of your friend's ocs
Donât push yourself to get back into writing the thing that made you stop writing in the first place, try writing something else!
Take a break, focus on another hobby of yours. Consume other pieces of media, take a walk to clear your head
You donât have to write in chronological order if it isnât working for you! Sometimes a scene you arenât interested in writing can become interesting after youâve explored other scenes in the story
Read bad reviews of books or TV-shows. Youâll unlock appreciation and motivation for your own writing
Create a new storyline, or a new character! Anything that helps bring something fresh into your story. Could even be a completely new wip!
Not writing every day doesnât make you a bad writer. Take a break if you feel like you need one
Remind yourself to have fun. Start writing and donât focus all your attention on following âthe rules.â You can get into the nitty-gritty when youâve familiarized yourself with writing as an art. Or donât. Itâs fiction, you make your own rules
Go to sleep, or take a nap. Sleep deprivation and writing does not go hand in hand
Listen to music that reminds you of your characters/wip
Remember why you started. Know that you deserve to tell the story you want to tell regardless of the skill you possess
