Boba Fett vs Samus Aran, Afterword

Okay, not a great video at all by 2018 standards. By back in 2010, maybe passable? I guess?

I dunno, I feel like I watched a lot of low quality videos back then and enjoyed the hell out of them.

At least this one feels like it had actual effort put into it. Analysis with source materials represented; two hosts, with slightly different inputs and some scripted banter; an animated fight scene. And a corporate sponsor, with plans for a future video! It definitely could've been worse.

Not off to a good start with this animation...

And... there's health bars? This ain't a video game.

Holy shit this is stiff. Like... if Smash Bros was on the NES. Although a quick google search reveals that Metroid started on the NES. So... Fridge Brilliance?

And Samus wins. Surprise surprise.

Wait, those buildings in the background have faces. The heck? Gurren Lagann wasn't even out yet I don't think!

Boomstick, settle down. Even by the standards of... (checks year) 2010... this was still just decent. Alan Becker made Animator vs Animation, parts one *and* two, over three years earlier. And he did not use pixelated sprites. To put that more succinctly, the battle animation was shit.

Now to hear about Samus. I mean, I already know about her, but I've never heard this version... I'm just gonna watch it.

Back then: Boomstick asks a funny question, Wiz ignores him and keeps going with the data Nowadays: Boomstick asks a funny question, Wiz gives him a snarky but factually correct answer that's just as funny. They really have improved!

“Easy to updrage” Very profession, guys.

Oh, nevermind. Wiz gave a snarky answer to the question of how she can do her ball form. Eh... The future delivery of lines is still better.

The ending to the analysis here is so abrupt. Like... this is barely a preview.

Okay, starting Boba Fett's break down.

There are a few parts where their future personalities shine through:

“-Fett often cradles [his gun] like a child.” “Yeah, I do that with my guns, too.” “That's... not weird at all, Boomstick...”

Their analysis was so slim back then.

Oh, hey. This was before Disney erased the EU. Not that I care, I hardly read anything from it. Still, it's worth a note.

Is fighting Darth Vader and surviving [twice] awesome enough to make up for falling into a crusty sand vagina three times? … Jury's still out.

Boba Fett vs Samus Aran Prelude

Okay, time for my first posts! I'll basically be liveblogging my way through this battle, since I've never actually watched it, only the remastered version. Sorta. I’ll get all my thoughts typed out first, then I’ll make the posts.

This should be fun!

First thing I wanna say is that I always used to think Samus was a dude. And a robot. I've never played Metroid, I thought it was just a Mega Man rip off, sue me!

Woah, Boomstick sounds different.

I can barely tell the difference between them. Wiz sounds too bombastic. And they talk so fast!
