Here is my PowerPoint I presented to Barnsley hospice. I talk about my samples, inspiration final designs and the final photoshoot through this presentation.

To add more texture to my garment I wanted to tack strands of my chosen pink fabric on my skirt. I chose to tack in some areas so the strands could hang effortlessly and could be a way off adding movement and fluidity to my silhouette. I found this task moderately easy the only challenges I bumped into was stitching the fabric to the denim at certain points where the material was thicker (where the thicker seams from the jeans were) which caused the machine to unthread.

Here I decided to use my up cycled jeans to create a large rectangular sheet of patchwork denim. This resulted in little denim waste as a lot of jeans were used up in the process of this therefore aligns with my brief with Barnsley hospice of showing an examples of sustainably. I found this task to be quite easy and was an effective way to add more tones into my garment though it was very time consuming to cut up the denim and stitch together.

Here I am stitching fabric cut into various sizes of circles onto my denim using a zig zag stitch. After all the circles were stitched on I cut small incisions into that back of the denim behind the circles making sure to not cut through the pink fabric and stuffed this with Woden to create trapunto. I chose to use this design technique as it gave it a 3d effect and added to the bubble silhouettes

Barnsley town itself was also an option for inspiration stated in the brief. having said this I created a design board on Wentworth woodhouse focusing on the architecture and tones of old fashioned housing and brick lays.

to broaden my inspiration and ideas on the human body I looked into further concepts this board being inspired by the skeleton. This allows me to create samples and designs based on these themes to have a more variety of designs.

I designed my initial page with the idea in my mind that I wanted to take inspiration from the brain. I wanted to choose this concept as you can take a lot of interpretation and inspiration from the brain, whether it is the function and mentality of the brain or the physical structure.

Join me on this journey working with Barnsley hospice to design and create a unique, inspiration pieces of clothing. Barnsley hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with a life-limiting illness, and those close to them. Having said this, for this project we were tasked to research into the humans body and the home town to this charity Barnsley itself. The hospice operates a retail hub and online selling platforms where they sell donated items. The new area, known as Rotation The Hub, features trendy, vintage, high-street and designer pieces – suitable for all styles and budgets. The team has created this new area to promote the benefits of shopping sustainably and appeal to a new demographic of customers, whilst changing some of the misconceptions about charity shopping. We were assigned to pick out our denim and then a chosen item of clothing ,aligned with our themes, from the hospice. I chose to stick with the theme human body and dived further into the human brain. I chose this theme as I believe the brain to be the main source of the body’s function, and main operator. I find this fascinating as we wouldn’t be anything without our brains but though everyone has one in order to function they are all individual and personalised to each of us.
