Simple Sunday: growing my own medicine. Today I begin my journey in becoming an herbalist! I love the concept that I can grow my own medicine and identify them in the wild so that I may not only help myself but bless others as well. My herb garden begins with marigold (tagetes), calendula, lavender (lavandula), chamomile (matricaria chamomilla), rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis), and sage (salvia officinalis). Simple Sunday: silence. There is a profoundness about silence. People often find it to be uncomfortable. But without silence, we may lose ourselves to chaos and confusion. Recently, that still small voice within has been directing me to quiet my mind and saturate myself in silence. I am indeed a quiet person, but my mind never is. So as I willingly obey, I can clearly hear God directing me down a completely different path than I had anticipated. Simple.Sunday: Embracing the medicine in your yard. As I reside in the Chihuahuan Desert, I am fortunate to have an ocotillo (fouquieria splendens). This is an ocotillo blossom tea that indigenous people of the desert Southwest used to help with sore and aching muscles.
