German smear mimics the look of irregular stones and heavy mortar joints, a style often found on centuries-old cottages and castles throughout northern Germany. My swatches are an infinite source of amusement for me...perhaps mirth is a better word. I have these little white boxes all over our house with future memories painted inside just waiting to be laid out with perfect seats to our life. It’s so hopeful and exciting seeing those colors come alive and bring light and joy to our home. The reimagining of what this can be, watching it transform so beautifully knowing that I did it myself...I simultaneously feel like a little girl who wakes up to Christmas every day, yet also this big adulty person who gets to have something they’ve dreamed about their whole life. What was once a daydream, or a distraction to take me away from my life, has now become this space that I move around in. Well, it’s just an honor to be this lucky. I am honored to be this home’s next story. I had a wonderful meeting today with the folks at @sherwinwilliams . We discussed our favorite color trends and what we’re excited to see more of. I think this gray washing trend is about over, along with it the creaming of everything with those quintessential pops of black. I am really digging deep and rich emerald greens (think velvet), oceany blues, buttery leathers, brushed golds, soft blush pinks...I feel like we’re heading towards a more simple, yet dramatic, palette. We want more earthy and comfortable spaces, respites from all the madness that seems to be everywhere right now. Our homes are going to reflect our need for sanctuary, a love for growing plants, reading books and enjoying uncluttered spaces. I see colors that really invigorate and refresh as we head into Spring. I’m here for it. I had a dream about you last night, so vivid that it could have been a memory. We were together, walking so close that I had slipped my arm through yours. The air was warm; we drank spiced rum and watched deer moving quietly between the trees. You were mine for the taking, finally, the thing that I had always wanted but couldn’t have. Maybe it really was a memory, from a different world, another time. Maybe that’s why you’re so deep in my bones that I’ll never get you out.
