All I want to do is write but nothing is coming :(
i decided im making my life about love, about comfort, about building a physical safe space for whoever wants to enter it, about light, about satiety and about understanding and compassion

Italy Grateful To France (1861-1862) by Vincenzo Vela
I have never seen the sky so heavy
Snow clinging to the edges of the atmosphere
Reaching tree branches scraping the sky and coming away frozen
My socks sink further and further into my boots
Wind tangling in the hem of my skirt
I fall in love with this moment
Standing on your driveway, too close
Too far
Time slipping like silk through my fingers
Street lights flickering to life
My car leeching warmth into the street
I hug you too tight, and you tell me you love me
Twice
I missed you
"Never regret thy fall,
O Icarus of the fearless flight
For the greatest tragedy of them all
Is never to feel the burning light."
-Oscar Wilde
LADIES ! strawberries are finally in season where i am and i’ve been having strawberry green tea from teabags all this time and calling it strawberry chai because in hindi all tea gets called chai. except now we have REAL strawberries in our fridge and i’m currently making proper black tea leaf chai with slices of it... it is brewing... i’m going a lot by instinct here because all the recipes online only talk about that thin kind of watery strawberry green tea and not decadent strawberry Chai, per se. so! if it ends up tasting good after i winged it then i might post a recipe ahhh . fingers crossed and may chai gods look upon me with a benevolent eye
It tasted great! so here’s a recipe! 💓
First. Get some strawberries. I had these bulbous, lumpy ones. adorable.
then get some loose leaf black tea—i used darjeeling, but anything strong will do.
slice the strawberries (a handful) and place them in 3 cups’ worth of boiling water. add two (or more, eyeball it) teaspoons (heaped) of tea leaves.
then... wait for 10-15 minutes until it comes to a boil... turn off the heat and mix in a small amount of milk. after that, strain out the liquid, which should be a pink-brown sort of shade. add honey and lemon if you want. Sprinkle sliced bits of strawberry or strawberry powder on the top, if you like, too.
Here’s two cups of this concoction, one with strawberry slices and one with only the tea:
it has a fresh and warm sort of taste. it’s more of a morning drink than anything, imo. i think cinnamon could potentially make it even better, i’ll try that next time.
note—be careful not to make it taste too much like soup—to avoid that, use less strawberries and more tea leaves.

About the birds in the snow outside my window
I understand, now, why the birds haven’t fled winter’s grasp
Snow soft beneath their feet, air so clear and fresh their lungs are practically bursting with it
The burnt out husks of the summer months we lost decompose under the heavy blanket of frost
Leaves turned to dust, but the tree still growing
