Diabetes? More like dia-beat-me-with-a-crowbar, am I right?
So...I Started The Medtronic 670 G
I have to say I’m not entirely thrilled with Medtronic at the moment. The last pump I was on sent me into DKA twice so it was fair for me to be excited about getting a new one. However, something that I’ve hated from Medtronic was their sensors. They were never accurate, super flimsy, and keep me up at night with alarms. So far I’ve only been woken up twice by the one I have currently but I had to change it after only 3 days because it bent. So the big selling point of this pump it the “auto mode” which is supposed to take data from your sensor and automatically adjust based on the direction your blood sugar is going. Sounds great...in theory...but I’m concerned because if the sensors aren’t accurate...and then my pump messes with my insulin...that could be super dangerous. I also hate how often I have to calibrate the sensor. So here I’m still having to prick my fingers anyway because the sensor is faulty. How does everyone else feel about Medtronic products? If you use a different brand, who and what and how is it working out for you?
i love the idea of ghosts not being dead people but just places where time is kind of thin
like one of my friends & his girlfriend have a ghost in their very old new england house that's apparently an old timey little boy who does shit like jump on the bed and slam doors but if they tell him very sternly "daniel, stop that" the activity stops immediately
and i love the idea that years ago theres this rowdy little 19th century boy just being alive and playing in his room but if he gets too loud sometimes, the ghostly form of my 21st century friend shows up and is like "Hey! Cut it out." and then vanishes and no one believes this child
i don’t really wanna DO the work today I don’t really wanna do the work toDAY i don’t really wanna do ! the work ! today ! i don’t wanna do the WORK today
some of yall have never had to wake up at 4am because of low blood sugar and walked to the kitchen to drink a juice box while feeling like you are not even in control of your own body and it shows
I figured I better hop on the bandwagon.
You’re Not a “Bad Diabetic” If...
You decide to eat the delicious-sugary-carby thing anyway even though you KNOW it’s going to make your blood sugar high
You prefer shots over an insulin pump
You feel like wearing a CGM is just way too much machinery
Sometimes you like going low because it means you get to eat all the naughty things you never let yourself have
At any point in time you’ve used your diabetes to:
Skip gym class
Take a guilt-free sick or personal day
Get out of hot water for a mean or snappy comment you made to a friend or SO that you actually totally meant
You wait until your test kit is overflowing with used test strips before you throw them out
You do the finger lick/wipe-blood-on-test-kit maneuver
You don’t own a sharps container
The last time you changed your lancet was..um….
You only change your pen or syringe needles when they’re basically bent and totally blunt
You don’t work out as often as you should because exercise actually makes your blood sugars crazy
Your endo has ever had to give you a stern talking to
You’ve experienced/are experiencing diabetic complications
You don’t define yourself by your diabetes
Why are these things okay?
Because you’re human
Because sometimes you need a day off from work or school because managing diabetes on top of all your other responsibilities is exhausting
Because as long as your A1c isn’t dangerously high and you’re generally trying to be healthy, who cares about how you choose to manage your diabetes?
Because there are so many other wonderful components of your life and personality beyond type 1 diabetes
this is so funny to me oh my god
Girl…Girl, no. That’s….not how any of this works.
If people with asthma are essentially allergic to air, wouldn’t it make sense for them to avoid breathing in the first place, like children with a cold avoid smoking cigarrettes??? I seriously discuss this without looking up truly basic science or facts!!
These things stress me out.
You ever just sit there, knowing your blood sugar is gonna go low, watching the numbers on you CGM slowly drop, waiting for it to become so low you have to treat it, like the goddamn string quartet on the Titanic?

Look who just got a new CGM! So far I am in LOVE with the Freestyle Libre! As someone who HATES finger pokes (and lacks motivation to check tbh) I find myself using this bad boy then I ever did with my meter. Better A1C here I come!
Thank god for a competent woman.
When your work is literally stolen word for word... https://beyondtype1.org/diabetes-isnt-even-that-bad/
Let me tell you why the statement above is a load of crap. 1. Our bodies are waging war against themselves 2. It takes us longer to heal
Anyone who wants to be an ally to the disabled and the chronically ill must support the technologies which make their lives better. You cannot support someone with chronic pain while also suggesting that all pain relievers are the work of the devil. You cannot support someone with diabetes while promoting politics that end the availability of insulin. You cannot claim solidarity with a group of people, while at the same time expressing politics that would literally kill them.
