Continuing the concept of this post, here's a redraw of the Saraswati painting by Raja Ravi Varma in aroace pride flag colours.

Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, learning, and the arts in the Hindu pantheon. Hinduism doesn't have one 'canon' and it's not that there isn't a scripture or lore where Saraswati is partnered with a god, even if the partnership is for heteronormative compliance. However, in most of Saraswati's widely known lore, she remains detached from romance or sex and solely dedicated to learning, arts, and knowledge.

I had been thinking a lot about how historic and religious celibacy or abstinence from romance (or sex) is seen as sacrificial, when it could have just been gathering of people who would likely fall under the aro umbrella, just living life. I'm making an entire series out of redrawing mythological characers in classical paintings in pride colours.

Arapaima (with watercolor pencils)

I wanted to finish this a few months ago, but here is an Arapaima drawn with water colorpencils and outlined with a brush pen.

This was my first time using watercolor pencils, and I am quite happy with how it turned out.

I might do more drawings with those pencils in the future.

A Desi? QUEER Film Set in History

Not really sure how to describe this one. I bring to you a kind of desi queer film I found. It tells the story of queer Muslim women in the apartheid South Africa of the 1950s. The softness and the loudness of women, uff. Of fun and freedom. This story with an interwomen commentary on the society at that time.

The fact that this representation exists is so dear to me. And it's not a sad/heartbreaking ending.

I think both the main acresses in this also feature in the popular film 'I Can't Think Straight'. Go check out, it's available on YouTube.

i think the biggest sorrow of my twenties is losing soooo many close friendships.

some because of mistakes of my own but mostly because my boundaries were not respected.

but both create a sense of doubt, insecurities. most of the times i am perhaps better off without those people yet the heart doesn’t let me forget about them.

one of them though, i became the very thing i stood against. insensitive, inconsiderate and nasty. i hope i can be gentle with myself.
