more than once, malak has woken julian up from an impromptu nap just in time for a meeting by pecking incessantly at his window. julian doesnโt know how malak knew where he lives and at this point heโs too afraid to ask
one time when julian was drunk, malak brought him a silver screw he found on the ground, and julian started crying from happiness. now malak brings him all kinds of shiny things and julian has a little drawer with everything from him
as julian becomes more in-tune with his magic, heโs able to understand malak, like asra can understand faust. the thing is, he thinks all magicians can understand every animal. so one time heโs in the middle of some experiment and malak is whining to be fed. julian canโt understand why the apprentice isnโt doing it and he asks them as much.
julian: why arenโt you feeding malak heโs been crying for it for ten minutes and heโs SO LOUD.
mc: oh is that what he wants? iโll feed him
julian: wait you donโt understand him
mc: of course not, i couldnโt understand someone elseโs familiar
julian: someone elseโs WHAT
when julian and mc take off on their journey he teaches malak to sit on his shoulder and say โarrrrrrโ to increase his pirate cred
the effect is slightly ruined because malak keeps trying to groom julian who secretly doesnโt mind
