So, let’s try an AU where the bats are complete isolationists.

I mean, they’ve had contact with the world outside Gotham and villains outside Gotham, but they’ve completely and totally avoided other heroes.

So, There’s a Justice League, but no Watchtower.

There’s a Teen Titans, but without the Robins.

There’s a Red Hood, but no Outlaws.

Tim’s Young Justice never existed because they just joined the Titans.

No one is allowed in Gotham - meta or not. Gotham is theirs.

So, you have all the other heroes and then you have the Bats.

And, frankly, the other heroes are a little wary of the bats. They have no idea who they are or what they’re capable of?

They’re from Gotham - they live in Gotham and take care of Gotham and Gotham is one of the most dangerous cities in America, if not the world. Gotham’s villains are crazy. 

And if the bats are taking care of that, then they have to be… well, pretty dangerous. No one wants to cross them. And even though they want to find out what their powers are, no one wants to risk going into Gotham after that time Superman tried it and came out 5 minute later with a sliver of kryptonite embedded in his arm (just because no one knows about the bats, doesn’t mean the bats don’t now about everybody.)

And then comes the moment when the bats have to break their isolation.

batfam social media headcanons

i should be reading for art history so here’s some bullshit that’s definitely not art history. this got long so under the cut!

bruce is probably the stereotypical dad who Neither Understands Nor Cares but Bruce Wayne™️ has some social media accounts where some tired intern posts updates and shit on stuff the company is doing or like charity events bruce is attending or like maybe pictures/tweets about the kids you know chill stuff like that. occasionally one of the kids gets ahold of his twitter and like subtweets a racist politician or shit talks trump posts some dumb shit like #Wayne4Prez2020

dick is honestly the neutral evil of social media, he still unironically uses facebook and like shares mom memes like that one thats like, “this morning i put red bull in my coffee. after fifteen minutes of driving i realized i left my car at home!!” and shit and honestly its just embarrassing the rest of the fam probably have him blocked because he keeps tagging them in bad memes. he has a snapchat too but he’s bad there too he breaks streaks with the carelessness of a callous god and he obnoxiously sends himself w like every new filter every day but sometimes he’s funny about it so the fam generally puts up w it 

jay is pretty chill about social media he’s probably the most normal about it out of all of them honestly. he’s got a healthy number of streaks on snapchat, sends a mass snap streak and then occasionally adds to his story or sends the fam shit that reminds him of them. he has a facebook but there are no posts on it and it’s still the default silhouette avi bc he got lazy halfway through setting it up. he has a twitter, every time some major shit happens politically he retweets scathing sarcastic commentary abt it so ppl know his opinion and he makes an original tweet maybe once every six months if ur lucky

tim has like Official Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne accounts and then he has his unofficial, private shitpost accounts lmao. he has a photography insta that isn’t related to his name in anyway whatsoever that has a pretty hefty following, as well as being known for being kind of a mystery as to who runs it. he probably deactivated his real fb because it was embarrassing and he wanted dick to stop inviting him to messenger, he still has an Official one but it’s run by some intern instead of him, he has a tumblr and a twitter and he’s fairly active on both; reblogs/retweets mostly aesthetic stuff (esp art and photography), angry political commentary, and shitposts. every few months or so people find his actual twitter and he gets angry emails from PR (WITH SCREENSHOTS!) until he deletes it and makes a new one. he has a fairly basic snapchat, streaks w close friends, puts his coffee and the Gotham skyline on his story

honestly I'm not entirely sure about Damian but for some reason I feel like he has a twitter where he retweets professional political commentary and communist theorists/supporters 

cass has a really huge following on both tumblr and insta; on tumblr ppl follow her bc she’s a really funny shitposter, only no one in her actual family can ever tell if she’s shitposting or being serious. on insta people follow her bc she’s fuckign gorgeous and always wears really fresh fits and also has a really good photographer winkwink

 steph is the chaotic evil of social media and that means whatever you think it means honestly

Does anyone else think of that one issue of Red Robin, where Tim has M’gann pose as him at a press conference so that Vicki Vale sees Red Robin and Tim Drake in the same place at the same time, but nobody else knew about the set up besides the Batfam?

Can you just imagine the entire superhero community seeing Tim Drake on television being shot, and they’re all probably panicked, but then less than a millisecond later the camera pans to show Red Robin fighting Scarab, and they’re all throwing down their capes, cursing out Batman and the entire Batfamily.

Like, Conner was probably halfway to Gotham when Clark calls him, and Kon just stops midair and goes “jesus fuckign. How do you deal with this bat stuff?” Then Clark says “Don’t ask me. I just found out Bruce isn’t actually dead.”

and let me just say that even with having not slept in 2 days and being lowkey half-dead from their last case he looked fabulous

after when Tim explains everything to her she just listens quietly

(because the best thing about talking things out with Cass is that she’s the best listener in the world)

and he’s nervous b/c he doesn’t really know how she’ll respond

anyways when he finally finishes talking to her she still doesn’t ~fully~ understand why Tim’s gender identity would matter to literally anybody but Tim

(bc if Tim being him/theirself makes Tim happy then why does it matter?)

and Tim just smiles and hugs her because it is such a Cass way to think.

Later that week he comes out to Kon

then when Kon is supportive to Jason and then Dick/Bruce/Steph

then finally to Damian and the rest of the world

the whole family is very supportive

even if the rest of the world is shitty and not everyone understands the people who matter do 

so yeah long story short Cass bought Tim his first skirt

trans tim drake headcanons!!!

a young tim drake cuts his hair and wears masculine clothing in cycles; first cutting it the day after his parents leave for a long trip so that it has time to grow back out before they’re home

dick grayson was his Masculine Icon™ when he was a kid and his idolization of him is what helped him initially realize he was trans; he didn’t wanna be a girl version of that boy, he wanted to be that boy

robin was also just generally really important to tim’s early ideas of masculinity: boyish, cocky, and flashy above all else

bruce and the others (sans alfred, who is omnipotent) don’t necessarily understand so much at first as they just don’t necessarily care how he identifies himself, which is a lot better than the anti-transness of his parents, so wayne manor becomes sort of a getaway wherein he can be out safely

robin is literally a dream come true and is when tim really starts to come into himself (but it’s just the beginning of a loooong journey of self-discovery)

when bruce really starts making an effort to understand tim’s transness is when he bruises a rib whilst binding on patrol (HUGE no-no) and bruce has him a costume suit made with a front panel that will confine his breasts without restricting his breathing (tim cries a little a lot)

tim goes on hormones after jack wakes up from his coma; as part of his “better father” kick he gets on he decides to accept tim’s identity (but things aren’t really completely smooth sailing)

alfred taking care of him and he and dick marathoning movies whilst tim recovers from top surgery!!!!!!

he cries when he sees his post-op chest for the first time

okay so my add-ridden ass couldn’t stop thinking about add tim drake so here are some add tim headcanons:

boy is constantly in motion. leg jiggling, thumb twiddling, spinning around in chairs, twirling pens/pencils in his fingers, rocking back and forth, you name it. he can also make a stim toy out of pretty much anything. you name: batarangs (many bandaged fingers for that one), handscuffs, PENS, loose threads, his own cape. he’s the poster boy of stimming okay

the green day lyric, “on a steady diet of/sodapop and ritalin” is pratically his anthem

he’s a classic case of an add-er who goes undiagnosed for a long time just because they’re good in school. he’s really smart but he can’t focus for shit honestly god knows how he made it this far in school

has MASTERED the art of looking like he’s really hardcore focusing when really he’s just daydreaming. like dick will go to ask him something and bruce’ll be like “no, he’s really into right now” when honestly tim is probably thinking some wild shit like “if cinderella’s shoe fit perfectly, how come it fell off??”

his meds take away his apeptite, which is a huge problem because he already forgets to eat regularly

can’t read analog clocks for shit. honestly idek if this is an add thing at all but i have trouble with it so i’m putting it

borderline dyslexic too. loooots of directional differentiation problems; once almost brained himself on the side of a building because nightwing said he was on a rooftop to tim’s right and tim grappled to the left instead.

Ok ok so I have /feelings/ about ADD Tim Drake.

Tim being diagnosed and his parents don’t say it but it’s just another reason why he’s a disappointment to them, another reason why he’s just not good enough to get them to stay with him.

Tim always taking his medication in private because he doesn’t want people to know.

Tim managing to keep it hidden from Bruce completely until one day the meds react badly with fear toxin or something and it’s just horrible all around because he never wanted them to know.

Hyper focus. I see Tim getting really really hyper focused on a case and completely neglecting everything else until he physically collapses from unless someone is there to snap him out of it.
