#What babes. Aging well is in the genes
“That’s because you’re a good man. The good man that loves me. The good man I love.” She brushed the back of her hand up and down his jawline. “And for the record, they totally inherited it. They just haven’t found their you yet.”
“Let’s just hope I can continue to hold up to those standards you have of me.” Will chuckled softly as he turned to kiss the back of her hand. “I hope they do find something like what we have…”
“You can my love.I don’t doubt it in the least.” Her grin faded as she brushed her thumb over his lips. Her hand dropped to his chest. “I worry about them. They’ve struggled in love so far… What if they never find a good partnership?” She pressed her face against his chest with a soft sigh. “I want them to be as happy as we’ve been.”
“Hey…” He sighed softly as he rubbed her back. “I’m sure they will. It just might take them some time. Like it did for us.” Will smiled down at her. “I worry too, it’s what we do as parents, but I’m sure they will find someone.”
She raised her head, leaving her chin propped on his chest. “It didn’t take us that long. But… I’ll accept your logic.” She ran her fingers along his spine and managed a smile for him. Although it failed to light up her eye as much as the usual. “I’m just tired of watching them get hurt. I’m not sure I’ll survive watching someone stomp on one of our babies’s hearts again.”
“It took us long enough.” Will laughed as he looked down at her. “It’ll be okay. I know it’s our job to worry, but we’ve got tough kids.” He rubbed her cheek gently. “We gotta be tough for them too.”
“I can be tough, but if I’m tough I can’t be nice,” she chuckled. “I’m too old to be two things at once. I don’t have the energy.” Cade rubbed her cheek against his hand in return with a happy sigh. “Being old is hard.”
“Old? Us? Nooo... of course not.” Will grinned as his forehead lightly rested on hers. “The kids are as lucky to have you as a mother as I am to have you as a wife.”
