A lady’s maid is almost like a friend to her lady. One is similar to a valet, she helps dress, style, bathe, wait, and advise her mistress. Rather than a housemaid or scullery maid, a lady’s maid has a somewhat higher societal status and may accompany her mistress on travels and some occasions. One also sews her lady’s garments and removes stains, to keep her well-dressed.
