i had a dream where we made a meme. whenever a character would "miss their wife", Tails would just automatically be summoned to witness it. no matter who or where, Tails would pop into existence, there was no way to stop it from happening, heres some examples what it looked like:

“I wonder what I set its power limit at.. hopefully it didn’t collect to much dust..”

The doctor chuckled and speaks as if expecting the platypus to be watching somehow.

“You know, I’d hate to be you right now. But I’ll continue to humor your game.”

He presses a button and an alarm goes off

The doctor walks around the small village, pretty much aimlessly, no idea what one belonged to Tails parents. He looks at the miles electric and grips it tightly, he takes a moment before he puts it in his bag, he parks his egg mobile and walks around more.

“He wouldn’t. I knew he wouldn’t I just don’t think he’s here..”

He stops walking and looks the his right

The fox followed anyway, feeling the need to explain anything about this situation. The other two had ran oft somewhere, leaving just Miles to meet the doctor outside as he exited.

"Look. I-I know she can be a bit much, but she is family."

His ears were pinned back, not even he was believing what he was saying, but what was he supposed to do, explain that if he leaves Starline is threatening to take his brother next? If he stops the visits entirely then she'll make sure he can never see Sonic again?

His voice came out raspy, and this whole situation was making the fox look sick.

The doctor kept walking almost tempted to ignore the fox, he lets out a long sigh and face palms

“Just answer this Tails. Are you here because you want to be? Truly. Or are you here because of a different reason. You don’t have to specify. I’m sure I know the details. I don’t think it takes that much brain power.”

He doesn’t even look at the kit, his eyes are set forward

His voice was still hoarse, a slight wheeze in each breath he took. He was fine, mhm. Regardless of medical states, he also refused to look at the other. He didn't know what to do. He panicked. And now? He'd rather stay than leave.

“Don’t die from pepper. You can still go into shock but I think those would be better.. also don’t ask why I had a few of those.”

The doctor gets in, he still doesn’t face the kit

“Really? You’d stay here?”

He turns his head toward the kit finally. His gaze was unreadable. It was hard to know what he was thinking. His tone was rather dismissive, it lacked genuine care. He always had a slight tone with tails, but it was gone in this moment.

The kit looked at the bag, opening it and peeking through. He'd save these for if she made it worse at any point or tried to double dose him. He'd be fine in about an hour.

"I. Uhm. Thanks..."

He twisted his tails together under the doctor's gaze. He didn't like that tone. He had to explain himself. He had to- make it less bad.

"I got Whisper hospitalized. It was my tech that did it. It's my fault Surge and Shadow are missing. It was my fault Clutch got away from you and my fault you got stuck in that Tinker thing again. I'm only making everything worse. Even if I could go back? I wouldn't. I gotta focus on one problem at a time- and this? This is something I can focus on and actually make progress with. Hopefully."

“You’ll regret that. And you know it.”

He starts his egg mobile

If I didn't come, Starline was threatening to sicc his damn dog on him. And if I didn't at least visit? My mother was threatening to make my stay a lot more permanent with legal action. Of course, that doesn't matter because it's looking more permanent by the day- so you tell me what to do! If my every decision is wrong, if no matter what I choose, someone is unhappy or someone gets hurt, then you choose! You deal with that CRUSHING weight. I can't any more decisions, I can't I can't I can't I can't!"

The fox's voice jumped an octave, pupils shrinking. He was stressed out of his goddam mind.

That normalcy tone he typically uses with the kit, the stone expression fading, replaced with his typical I’m not mad, just slightly disappointed expression. He wasn’t mad or upset with the kit. He was just disappointed with how all of this is effecting the hero’s that constantly kicked his ass.

“Tails- er..Miles.. whatever you want right now. There.. is always an answer.. it’s just difficult to find sometimes. You don’t have to nor should have to deal with all that weight. Not any of it is your fault. It’s all events that happened when you were around sure. But things are still happening with you gone. You aren’t at fault. If you.. truly think this is your only answer then.. I’m sorry. Don’t get used to me saying that.”

He gives the kit the option to pull away from the hug

“I just really don’t think you should stay here.. it seems off putting..”

I- I can usually see where each decision is going to lead, what's going to work, what isn't. Everything's a blurred mess, and I can't figure out what to do. N-no offense, but you're predictable. Starline isn't."

And if the pattern isn’t consistent? That in itself leads to a pattern. Ever hear expect the unexpected? We take that logic.”

That normalcy tone he typically uses with the kit, the stone expression fading, replaced with his typical I’m not mad, just slightly disappointed expression. He wasn’t mad or upset with the kit. He was just disappointed with how all of this is effecting the hero’s that constantly kicked his ass.

“Tails- er..Miles.. whatever you want right now. There.. is always an answer.. it’s just difficult to find sometimes. You don’t have to nor should have to deal with all that weight. Not any of it is your fault. It’s all events that happened when you were around sure. But things are still happening with you gone. You aren’t at fault. If you.. truly think this is your only answer then.. I’m sorry. Don’t get used to me saying that.”

He gives the kit the option to pull away from the hug

“I just really don’t think you should stay here.. it seems off putting..”

The fox doesn't even attempt to pull away, burying his head into the doctor. He hadn't had any real comfort since he last spoke with Shadow, and even then, he was hanging on by a thread.

"If I leave, then Sonic is in danger. Heck, everyone's in danger from my bad decisions."

Tails muttered, trying to think of anything.

"I haven't had a good idea since you decided it would be a good idea to pay Starline a visit without your goggles. I- I can usually see where each decision is going to lead, what's going to work, what isn't. Everything's a blurred mess, and I can't figure out what to do. N-no offense, but you're predictable. Starline isn't."

He sighs and pats the kits back as he still hugged the little guy

“Sonic can handle himself, he has proved that numerous times when he faced many others who were less predictable than me. You as well. All us villains are predictable, you just know me now. You learned everything you could about me. He is still new. Not much of a thought. Picking up on small details and motives is the best place to start to find his pattern. And if the pattern isn’t consistent? That in itself leads to a pattern. Ever hear expect the unexpected? We take that logic.”

The doctor snickered, trying to add some light hearted banter

“Besidessssss, I’m not THAT predictable. I can almost guarantee you weren’t expecting a hug, from me? Out of alllllll people? Eugh you pests are making me soft I feel it everyday”
