So yesterday #August5 we had a #HomeGoing for my cousin/brother/my dude Dennis! It went well - I didn't breakdown held it together like he had wanted me to. So today is #WorkLikeADogDay it is also the I enlisted in the Mighty Mighty Marine Corps! That's right I am a #DevilDog! Devil Dog is a nickname for a #USMarine. It is said by US Marines to be based on the use of "Teufelshunde" by #German soldiers to describe Marines fighting in #WorldWar  The "Devil Dogs" nickname for Marines appeared in #newspapers in the United Statesin April 1918. The La Crosse Tribune ran a story about the nickname on April 27, 1918, and other newspapers used the story as early as April 14, 1918. Other common nicknames for Marines are "#Leatherneck" and "#Jarhead". The 13th colony and the 4th state to enter the Union, #NationalGeorgiaDay recognizes the natural wonders and immense complexities of this bastion of Southern culture. #Georgia’s founder, James Oglethorpe, settled the colony’s first capital, #Savannah. Georgia would go on to have four more capitals, #!Augusta, Louisville, Milledgeville and finally, #Atlanta Politically and socially, a divide has always seemed to exist. Considering Georgia was initially established as a barrier of fortification between #SouthCarolina’s southern border and the #Spanish settled in #Florida, perhaps Georgia lived up to destiny. To Sign or Not to Sign Georgia initially prohibited slavery in 1735. Of the 13 original colonies, she was the only one to do so. The prohibition lasted 15 years. Leading up the Revolution, Georgia leaned toward supporting the crown and was the single colony not in attendance at the First Continental Congress. During the Second Continental Congress, Georgia first sent one delegate, Lyman Hall. However, Hall didn’t vote because he only represented a single parish in Georgia. The colony later sent Button Gwinnett and George Walton as official delegates. All three signed the Declaration of Independence. Wars were destructive for Georgia. Her people and the economy suffered, and the resistance to social change persisted. During the 20th century, industrial and technological advancements found a niche in Georgia’s economy. #BALTIMORE — The last time #DonaldJTrump blamed a black man for the condition of this undoubtedly troubled city, the year was 2015, the death of #FreddieGray in police custody had spawned a racial uprising, and the black man in question was #President #BarackObama. “Our great African American president hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore!” Mr. Trump wrote then on Twitter. Now Mr. Trump is president himself, and he has written off this entire city as a “disgusting, #rat and #rodent infested” place where “no human being would want to live,” and is blaming its longtime and revered congressman, Representative Elijah E. Cummings, for the city’s problems. But people here say that even if their city has its struggles, Mr. Trump has lost his right to point them out. “This is the struggle that he doesn’t know anything about,” the Rev. Timmie Lee, from the #CornerstoneChristianCommunityChurch, said as he stopped by a street stand he operates in West Baltimore, where his son Isaiah, 12, was helping sell #sneakers and #soap. “If he was raised up in this community, if he had any dealings with this community, then he can speak to this community. Elijah Cummings is here. He walks through this community. He lives in this community.” Residents were more pointed still. “Trump is a buffoon. He looks at this as an #AfricanAmerican community, and that’s all he sees. That’s where his narrow mind is,” said John Cheatham. It is not news to anyone here that Baltimore, which is 63 percent black, is struggling with long-term systemic problems and unstable political leadership. At the time of European contact, many tribes of the Lenape lived in the area. However, the English seized the Dutch colony of New Netherland in 1664. New Jersey became one of the Thirteen Colonies which broke away from Britain in the American Revolution, adopting the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Excuse me for being a day late!  I was relaxing in the rain! On #July22nd, relax in the shade and enjoy #NationalHammockDay. So it's  extremely hot on this #Saturday morning.  It reminds me of those weekends when I was a kid! Watching #cartoons. I always wanted to date #Valerie! (#JosieAndThePussycats) Never say never it can happen! Valerie, a multi-#instrumentalist who is most often seen playing the #guitar or the $tambourine in the #comics. It's  been said: Josie was “#lovable”, Valerie is “#likeable” — because she’s “too clever”. The tale goes on to show Valerie solve yet another problem the three have encountered, her usual role within the group’s dynamic. The reason Valerie’s smarts aren’t valued as much as they should be is because she can constantly see through #people, and isn’t scared to use sarcasm to rebuff them. While there have been many versions of Valerie throughout the years, including one in a #hilarious 2001 #musical #comedy, and though her last name seems to switch back and forth between “Smith” and “Brown”, her admirable characteristics always stay the same. She’s fiercely funny, confident as can be, and the most booksmart of the Pussycat trio, especially when it comes to #science and #automechanics. In real life, Valerie is actually the very first black character to appear in #Archiecomics. In 1969, she seamlessly became part of their scene during a story in which Josie and Melody were on the hunt for a replacement band member. Within moments of Valerie showing up, the girls were impressed by her friendly demeanor and musicianship. Over the next year, the gang’s hijinks and hits grew so popular IRL, the idea of a cartoon television show was pitched. This resulted in #HannaBarbera getting into a three-week standoff with producer Danny Janssen, as the #TV moguls wanted to make the character of Valerie a caucasian woman. Janssen protested the switch and refused to back down, and the company finally relented, making Valerie the very first black recurring cartoon character in a television show series.
