Dear Brother,
Last Christmas was the first one I’ve ever spent without you, but at the time, at least I still knew where you were, what was happening to you, and that you were safe. Had I known back then that the coming year would be unfortunate for the both of us, I would have fought tooth and nail to spend that Christmas with you. I’d wished back then that the next Christmas would be better, that I’d get to spend it with you. Sadly, it seems that we’re always going to be unfortunate, brother.
It’s worse this year. I don’t only get to spend Christmas without you. I also don’t have any news of you. I don’t even know if you’re safe right now, if you’re happy. Or if you’re even thinking of me and missing me like I do you, brother.
All I have is this book I got from Emma last year, the gift you’ve helped her with. And every time I miss you, I open it up and listen to your voice, hoping that the next day, I won’t need the assistance of an enchanted book to hear you speak to me.
This year, I got you something that I hope will be of use, brother.
What I got you is a two-way mirror. It’s enchanted. I have the other pair. All you have to do is use that mirror, call out to me, and we’ll be able to open the connection through the mirrors. We can speak to each other, see each other, without having to physically meet, if that’s what’s going to be the safer and more advisable way for you.
I do hope you’re well. I miss you, terribly. If possible, I wish we can meet soon, even just for a few minutes. I’m never going to stop worrying until I see that you still have all bits of you intact.
I love you, brother.

lost and found // bella & rod {flashback}
The raven-haired woman had spent the entirety of the afternoon renovating her estate. Since the departure of her traitorous husband, she had removed all his personal items and began renovating each and every room to remove any hint of his previous presence. It was what she had been instructed by her family to do. It was necessary to cut all ties from him and renounce their marriage. Yet, her Lord had yet to approve such a decision. Perhaps he still had plans for the two. Whatever it was, if she were to ever see him again she was sure to wring his neck.
There had been a time when Bellatrix thought she was capable of loving Rodolphus. Back before it all had begun. They had shared a moment upon a visitation in Hogwarts. The man had seen through the woman’s broken facade and accepted it. Then everything turned sour. She had been forced to leave, run for months on end until her master deemed her a safe return. And when she finally did come home, her husband had made his decision. He had left to be with his lover and their child, all of whom were traitors. He had changed over the past few months and so had she. Bellatrix had become more vulnerable to external stimuli. The slightest of which could cause a psychotic breakdown. However, none but her house elf got to see such a side. Her walls had grown even higher now. The ice that surrounded her heart had finally solidified.
After endless hours within her home she decided to take leave and visit Diagon Alley. With a sharp snap she had disapparated into a small store in which she made quite a few purchases. Bella left and turned down a side alley, hoping to find a moment of peace and quiet. Yet she was greeted with something entirely different. A face that was so familiar, the only thing she could do was utter his name.
"Rodolphus."
It was a struggle just to get up in the morning these days. Waking up in a different hotel room every other day, not wanting to or feeling safe enough to stay in one place for too long. Waking up early in the morning from only a few hours of sleep, laying there for the longest time before allowing himself to get out of bed and to clean himself up for the day. Finding a reason to get out of bed was something he struggled with every morning. Lying sprawled out on his bed, one arm lying against his forehead fighting the sunlight that tried to flow into the room and remind him that there was an entire world outside and that he was just lying around doing nothing. A sigh escaped his lips as he rolled on his side and sat on the edge of the bed, his head landing in his hands.
He hadn't seen Marlene in a while, since the death of their child, since the death of Adira they had both spiraled each into their own psychosis and it was hard to manage his own, let alone his lover's. What was the pointing of sticking around in home that he knew he was not wanted in when he couldn't truly protect someone he loved? He didn't protect Adira or Marlene when they needed him most, he had been out and it had ended in loss and disappointment with himself. Rodolphus didn't have anywhere to go now, no doubt his parents had disowned him, putting there hopes on his brother Rabastan of whom was begrudgingly following the Dark Lord because of him. And he couldn't return to his manor because he knew Bellatrix was there, it was hers and he didn't doubt that the moment he entered that house and she saw him, she would hex him blind. Before now, before Adira had been born there had been something strange that happened between them. A rare moment of weakness that she had shown to him and that he had accepted but whatever that had been, well he had thrown it away the moment he chose to support to Marlene and their child. When the Wizarding World had learned of their secret relationship and the byproduct of that. He had been shunned by many of whom he had been close and it only made those that were friends with Marlene, her family, and members of the Order only become more suspicious and wary of him. And now he really didn't have anyone.
After a few hours, Rodolphus finally emerged from the small hotel close to Diagon Alley that he had been staying at for the night. It had taken him too long to shower and dress himself. It was ridiculous that he had stooped to this point in his life but how else could he get back from it? Rodolphus had turned the collar of his leather jacket up to fend off the cold and his hands in his pockets. He had just arrived in Diagon Alley for the day with nowhere in particular he had decided to go. He didn't count on running into anyone when he turned the corner and in his distraction he almost ran into another person. He was about grumble out a reply when his eyes fell upon her. He couldn't believe it, fate was too cruel.
"Bellatrix." He said her name quietly, almost inaudible.
RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE
BASIC INFORMATION
HOUSE Slytherin YEAR Alumni AFFILIATION Death Eater FACE Ian Somerhalder
LIFE AND TIMES
Anyone who knew the Lestrange family knows that they are always quick to act, quick to speak, and quick to let you know if you’re welcome in their lives or not. The family bonded quickly with the Black’s and the Malfoy’s, perhaps that’s why Bellatrix and Rodolphus were married so quickly out of school, even though it’s evident the two could not care less for one another.
Rodolphus finds it obvious that his wife would rather be at the Dark Lord’s side and Rodolphus would rather be off elsewhere. While his wife is cheating on him with her hunger for power Rodolphus finds company with other women, and he’s not one to hide his affairs from his wife. Perhaps in hope that she’ll divorce him once and for all, even though it’s evident to him that she doesn’t particularly care.
Loyal to the Dark Lord as well, he fights the members of the Order whenever instructed, partially because he gets off on the thrill of the fight before the kill, the kill he all too often gets. There have been only a select few times where he has not got what he wanted and when that happens hell hath no fury. Rodolphus is the typical Slytherin alumni, quick to voice his dislike for any and all muggle-born’s and blood traitors. Anyone that gets in his way is at risk for losing their lives especially if they are members of the Order.

THE ROLE OF RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE IS CURRENTLY TAKEN
“Honestly, after the last, and only, conversation I’ve had with your mother, I do my best to.” The smile she gives is warm, though not without its tinge of sadness — then again, parents such as that aren’t exactly uncommon in the world they hail from.
”Fortunate then I’m here to turn you back if that did happen. Still, how-” There’s the barest pause that comes, a flicker of uncertainty. “— How are you?”
"Imagine living with her for most of your life, pretty sure she's the creature that all children fear live in their closets or under their beds. I wouldn't wish being the receiving end of her wand upon my worst enemy." There's no warmth in his heart when he thinks of his parents, he wouldn't have even called them such if they had not created him. "At least I wouldn't be a toad long enough to get squashed." He sighs at her question, something he's been so used to answering these days. "I've been better."
”Well, I never thought I would see the day Rodolphus Lestrange could be bullied into buying clothes by an old witch, and yet —— here we are.”
"Then you've clearly forgotten who my mother is. Honestly, it's best not to anger old witches, wouldn't want to actually be turned into a toad."
"Stability. A hard thing to come by in people, yet so easily gained in places spread across the map. How strange it is, that the least expected is where the hope lies." Drawing in a deep breath, he gazed at the man before him. Thousands of questions fumbling around in his brain, but none willing to slip. With a uneasy smile, he asked one of that could come with no simple answer not these days. “How are you, Rodolphus?”
"People are often more complicated than we realize and even the smallest of situations can change them. True enough." Rodolphus shoves his hands in the pockets of his jacket. He's still unsure about the two of them because no matter how complicated the situation might be, there's still something in them both hanging onto the friendship they had. He sighs quietly, "Could be better, but that's always the case, isn't it?"
"It would be the one thing everyone could depend on to remain the same. They’d never lose interest or hope here, if that were to be the case."
"Add a little stability to our lives, because Merlin knows nothing is anymore. Somethings that we never expected to change did."
“You needn’t look so distressed over there. Madam Malkin knows what she’s doing. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t sure of that.”
"I only came here for a new jacket, not an entire ensemble."
"How very true. I doubt there will be any changes to this place for a couple decades."
"Honestly, I think it would be best for everyone if this place never changed."
"Good to see that this area never changes."
"One of the few consistent things in this world."
