“Grandfather! Please guide my meditation.” Kylo implored, lighting a candle. He closed his eyes. Counted his breaths. Focused on his forehead until he could maintain a purple energy within.

He heard it again. It was like the many bodyless mummers found on Mustafar. But those had been the damned that haunted the dark side. This one was moral calling through the force. A man shifting through the masma of space and time.

Lord Vader turns his attention, using his senses to hone in on it alone. At frist finding this Kylo as nothing more then a purple haze on the center of his minds eye. Ignoring the sea of Officers and Stormtroopers who slowing grow mute as that busy themselves around him.

It's his mechincal breathing that breaks through to Kylo first.

"You." His voice echos.

"You are brave to reach me, but foolish nonetheless. There is only death here."

I like to think Anakin uses the figurative mask of Vader to be someone else. Someone who isn't boggle down with morals. A non person, a living weapon. One who doesn't have a past or deep thoughts outside of his duties. While the literally mask hides Anakin's true feelings. His shifting moods. His loneliness, his ghosts and supressed desires. One that cracks not by a lightsaber but a hope. One that comes in the shape of a person.
