Days turned into weeks as the five of you trekked around collecting the royal arms for Noctis. To be honest you were exhausted, you all were. However, you couldnât give up, not yet. There was so much to do still and not enough time to complete so much more we had found on our plates since our journey started. You had hardly enough time to think about anything, especially with Ignis who had remained completely dedicated to Noctis however, in moments he would catch your eye, when passing you a plate, would gently breeze his gloved hand across yours just to remind you of his feelings towards you. Finally, you were all making your way to Lestallum, to meet up with Iris and start the slow journey to Altissia.Â
âThis town is extremely interestingâ Ignis said as he drove through the tunnel âThe women here are the ones who work in the powerplant, not the malesâ
âso we are going to a town with a lot of powerful women?â Prompto asked âcool!â
âThis place is pretty bigâ Noctis responded as the tunnel ended and you saw Lestallum for the first time. Ignis parked the car and the five of you started to stroll around the town, taking in all the sights
âLook! They even have a cable carâ Prompto exclaimed excitedly
"Lets go to the hotel, Iris is waitingâ Gladius sounded impatient, he must have been longing to see his sister after all this time. The five of you headed up, following the street signs to a corner where the hotel was. The earth started to shake,
âWoah, did you feel that?!â Prompto quickly said
âyou mean the earthquake?â Ignis responded. You looked at Noctis who was holding his head, bent over slightly
âAre you okay?â You asked, putting you hand on his shoulder âyeahâŚâ he responded âletâs goâ As you walked into the hotel, the familiar face of Iris came running down the stairs
âLook at you guys holding your own out thereâ She joked walking over to us, she smiled at all of you. Iris had been like a little sister to you growing up. She was a few years younger than you, but the two of you had bonded over the talk of how crazy those boys could be. Secretly she loved Noctis, knowing that in reality it could never happen.
âWhat can I say? You look good!â Prompto responded, Gladius glared at the tall blonde boy before looking back at his sister.
âall things considered! You guys will stay here tonight right?â
âWhen we have time, we have catching up to doâ Gladius sighed, moving forward towards his sister. She pointed up
âlets go up to our room thenâ She smiled, you all followed her up to see Jared and Talcott. They greeted us, Jared shocked at how Talcott was behaving in front of Noctis, however he was full of confidence, which brought us hope, that the people of Insomnia were still living with hope. They left us to talk in the large room. Iris sat us down, you sat with Prompto on the edge of one of the bed, Ignis was on the bed beside you, he looked at you, before focusing back to the group and the discussion which was about to begin. Noctis looked serious, however he rested his arms on his thighs. He turned to Iris
âSo Iris, what was it like inside the Crown City?â
âNot pretty. The Citadel took a beating, but a lot of outlying neighbourhoods made it through in one piece, the centre⌠not so good I am afraidâ
âThe empire had tactical targets in mindâ Ignis added, pushing his glasses up to the top of his bridge.
âYou know if thereâs anything else you can ask meâ Iris said, focusing completely on Noctis.
âYeah, uh⌠thanksâ Noctis responded, looking awkward on his chairâŚ. âwhat?â Noctis looked around as we all sat there awkwardly.
âSo, about Lady Lunafreya, I keep hearing she was in town. Apparently, she left right away, but at least that means sheâs okayâ
âGood to hear⌠thanksâ Noctis sounded a little more relieved
âYeah well, get a good nightâs restâ She smiled âYou will need it for the journey ahead of youâ She relaxed a little. âSo⌠what have you all been doing since you left?â
âYou know, killing things, fighting⌠collecting royal arms for Noct!â Prompto exclaimed excitedly, making it sound like these past few weeks were easy for us, when in reality they had been hellish some times. âI have photos too! I can show you themâ
âare you like this with every girl you see?â Noctis asked, laughing a little as sunk into the sofa âPrompto, what about Cindy!â
âCindy?â Iris asked âHammerhead?â
âYou know her? Isnât she just wonderful?â Prompto returned, his voice sounding so soft.
âI met her on the way out of Insomnia, she fixed everyone up before we set out to hereâ
âSee! Isnât she just lovely?â
âOh Prompto, you are a love sick pupâ You laughed
"Its been tough, but Iâm glad to see you allâ Iris said, looking down at her hands âWe were so worried when we didnât hear from any of you for so long⌠we were afraid the worst had happenedâ
âand you thought we would be killed? You donât know your own brother too well huh!â Gladius thumped his chest in pride ânothing can stop meâ
âWe should all call it a nightâ Ignis chimed in âitâs late and we have a lot to discuss tomorrowâ
âI agreeâ Iris smiled âIâll show you to your rooms apart from Gladius and Noctis, this is your room for the nightâ
She stood up beckoning us to follow her. We left the main room and followed her down a corridor
â[Y/N] You are in here, they got you your own room!â
âyes! Finally!â you called out âno more dealing with you lot!â âbut the rooms are connected so⌠you can go into anyone elsesâ
âPrompto and Ignis you are hereâ pointing to the door close to mine âagain its connected!â She smiled. âI will be down the corridor so donât worry I am still close byâ She waved us goodnight and we all went into our own rooms.
For the first time you felt peace, being able to have a moment to yourself, however it felt weird. Since you remember being in this world, you had always been around someone, this was, for the first time, a time you had been alone, completely alone. You sat on the end of the bed, flicking through your notes on your phone âremember homeâ You whispered âInsomnia? Why would I write thatâ You scrolled down a little more âRemember their names? Who?â You deleted the notes one by one, not understanding what you had written about any of this. Of course, you found the note which described everyone you had known âWhy on earth⌠Iâve known them since I was a kid⌠why would I need to write about themâ You deleted the note, which you had built up so much as a teenager here, describing each member of the group which you were now with. Although you had to laugh at the one about Ignis, âwhat a turnaroundâŚâ You chuckled to yourselfâ
You stood up, you realised now, you had your own bathroom, meaning a long shower was in order for you. Flinging your clothes off you rushed into the bathroom, turning on the hot water in the shower, feeling excited to not be yelled at for taking far too long. Clearly none of them had ever lived or been near a girl enough, which was shocking as Gladius had Iris⌠You felt relaxed as you felt the water trickle down your back, soaking your hair. You took a deep breath, thinking about everything which had happened in your life.
This adventureâŚ. IgnisâŚ. The future ahead of youâŚ
After a while you turned off the water, stepping out and grabbing the towel. As you opened the door you found you were no longer alone.
âOh... oh myâ the charming voice of Ignis rung through your ears âI am sorry, I shouldâŚâ
âOh, Ignis, itâs okayâ you smiled back, grabbing one of the bath robes from the closet âHold onâ You quickly wrapped it around you, covering your body from the now extremely nervous Ignis who had been pacing in your room for god knows how long. âis something the matter?â You asked, turning back round to face him.
âI just⌠wanted to ask if you would like to go for a stroll around Lestallum tomorrowâ
âof course I would!â
âI would very much like to see the markets hereâ
âI will gladly join youâ You smiled, walking closer to him. He looked tense, probably from seeing you in just a towel, dripping wet. He stood there, staring at your face, never at the rest of your body, which you were surprised about, was he really that much of a gentleman that he chose to ignore the fact that you were completely naked under the small wrap of that towel.
âThatâs good to hearâ he smiled. âGoodnightâ
âIgnis waitâŚâ You cooed, he nodded, looking into your eyes, pushing his glasses up, which you noticed he did when he was nervous. âabout what you asked me to doâŚâ
âHmm?â
âI will⌠waitâ You smiled âI donât think I really knew, about any of this thing called admiration until now, watching you⌠seeing how you are with me and the others⌠I really canât find any other reason why I feel soâŚâ
âsoâŚ?â he stepped forward, slowly coming towards you. âHelpless around you..â His hands were gloveless, and for the first time you felt his skin on yours, his hands were soft, he cupped your cheek with one hand and smiled âIgnisâŚI think IâmâŚâ
âshâ he cooed in such a calming way âitâs quite alrightâ he smiled, kissing you softly. You felt your knees melting, your heart pounding in your chest. His other hand found its way to cupping your face as he deepened the kiss.
âHey are you in here IgâŚâ You heard Promptoâs voice from the door which connected the two of yours. In a flash Ignis had moved away from you, lunging backwards in a lighting fast motion
âSorry, I was asking [Y/N] if she would like to join us out on a tour of Lestallum tomorrowâ
âahâŚ. Okâ Prompto went bright red âI⌠I âŚâ He stuttered, looking down at the floor âOkayâ
âPrompto?â You turned to look at him âis⌠something wrong?â
âno⌠no⌠No I am fine! Iâm always fineâ he smiled, his lips fighting against it, as he bit his lower lip. He quickly rushed out, closing the door behind him.
âwell⌠thatâs blown thatâ Ignis sighed âI should goâ
âmmâ you sighed in agreement âGoodnight Ignisâ
âGoodnight my sweetâ he smiled
âfor the first time in a long time, I donât get a kiss on the forehead?â
âHm?â he looked confused âlike every night, in the tentâ âahâŚ.â He looked confused still, he walked over and kissed you ever so gently on the forehead âGoodnightâ he smiled as he walked away.
You stood there, wondering why tonight, your goodnight kiss on the forehead from Ignis⌠didnât feel the same as it had every night you all had been in the tent togetherâŚ

You turned to see Ignis, he looked tired, worn down from todays events. Looking at him, nervously you nodded. He sat down next to you, passing you a cup, filled with a warm liquid âTeaâ he quickly pointed out to you
âA problem can always be solved with teaâ A warm feeling melted you heart as you felt as if that was a phrase you had heard throughout your whole life, sadly you couldnât remember why this phrase was bringing back a memory you could not remember. âThanksâ You held the warm cup with your hands, holding it close to you, cuddling it almost. âso, what brought you here?â
âI wanted to inquire after you, after todays events, you must be exhaustedâ
âThanks Ignisâ Smiling you took a sip of the hot tea âIâm grateful, that Cor is alive, that he made it out alive⌠however I canât help but feel grief for Noctis, what he must be going through right nowâ
âHm, yes. It seems our home has been completely destroyed, however Noctis seems to be holding well, maybe it will take him, but we must continue to Altissia now, knowing that the empire will be looking for Noctis.â He took a large sip of his tea and placed it back on his lap, holding it with his gloved hand. âWe are all in danger now, but we have to continueâ You nodded, looking down at your cup.
âAre you okay Ignis?â You felt his body tense a little, Ignis never really spoke about himself ever, to anyone. He was the most selfless in the group, never asking to stop until he felt like the daemons would be coming out at night, he never spoke about his own emotions.
âIâŚâ He paused for a moment thinking about the right way to word his sentence. âI am okayâ He responded
âReally, Ignis you canâŚâ
âI amâŚâ he pausedâ There was an awkwardness in the air for a moment, you felt like Ignis was trying to build up the courage to say something however you were extremely unsure of his intentions
Ignis pushed his glasses up, adjusting them. He looked tense, his body was stiff. He looked to his tea, letting out a sigh âYou seeâŚâ He turned to you âThere was something which I would like to discuss with you, privately, so here I am. But I find that the timing of todayâs events slightly ruins it.â
âYou can tell me Ignis, donât worryâ
âWell the thing is [Y/N] I wanted to tell you that I find myself in great awe of your skills and strengthsâ
âThanksâŚâ you sat there, wondering where Ignis was planning on going with this statement he was making
âYou are extremely talented, I dare say more than mostâ He continued looking at you. âI find myselfâŚâ He paused, looking into your eyes, leaning a little closer to you. Your heart skipped a beat for a moment. âIâŚâ He quickly moved backwards. Shaking his head, a little âI canâtâŚâ He muttered âI canât make this harder⌠not nowâ He sighed âFor myself, for you or for the othersâ
âIgnis for once in your life, think for yourself and not everyone else. You are always cooking, cleaning up after us, driving us everywhere and wellâŚ.â You stopped as Ignis looked at you, a little shocked âbe true to yourselfâŚâ
With that one moment, Ignis raised his hand, touching the soft skin of your cheek
âIf only I couldâ He sighed. You closed your eyes as his touch. âif onlyâŚâ he whispered. Your heart pounded in your chest for a moment. Was this the feeling which you had read in books, when Prompto spoke about Cindy, was this what he was feeling⌠You opened your eyes to see Ignis, looking at you, his eyes wide.
âIgnisâŚâ you muttered, looking into his eyes âIâŚâ Before you could speak, he pressed his lips ever so gently to yours, only for a small moment, before he backed off completely, looking back at the night sky. Your cheek could still feel his touch on your skin, even though it was through his glove. Your lips tingled from the gentle kiss from Ignisâs soft lips.
âsorryâŚâ he sighed. âI find myself unable to control this feeling. I have watched you from the moment we set off, you were always soâŚâ He looked up, before letting out a huge breath, sighing a little âEven before⌠I just wanted to speak with youâŚâ He finished his tea, placing the cup at his side âI just wanted to spend more time with you⌠But my duty is to the Prince⌠to Noctis. I canâtâŚâ
âI understandâ you sighed, looking down at your cup âNoctis before everything⌠isnât it the same for us all now?â
âyes⌠maybe⌠just maybe one dayâ He smiled a little, looking to you âif you could waitâŚâ he looked for an answer in your eyes âto⌠wait for meâ
âIgnisâŚâ You looked at him, his body was so tense. You placed your hand on his, looking at the two of your hands resting together.
âyou donât have to tell meâŚâ he looked away again âI just, needed to get it off my chest. I chose the prime day, Insomnia falls and your father is in the tent with usâ he chuckled a little. âLetâs get some restâ he smiled, picking up your cup, followed by his own. You quickly rose, making your way to the tent. You took one last glimpse at him by the fire light before smiling a little. He looked to you, a little smile forming on his lips.
You climbed over the bodies in the tent to your spot next to Prompto, knowing in a moment, Ignis would be on the other side of you.
You woke in the morning to find Ignis had gone, along with the others, only Prompto and Noctis remained in the tent with you, his sleeping body warm and close to you, his head touching your back. You tried your hardest to move away, without waking him or the Prince. Your body was stiff from the floor. Your bones clicked as you got up, your eyes adjusting to the light. Getting out the tent, your heart stopped. Ignis and Cor were having a discussion over by the cooker, while Gladius was obviously waiting for you to join him for a morning run.
âGood morningâ Cor nodded, looking at the mess of his daughter as you walked closer âyou are lateâ he sternly said, pointing to Gladius, who looked pissed.
âmmmhmmmâ You groaned, scratching your head âOkay Dadâ Ignis was quick to hand you a cup of warm Ebony coffee, which you downed, hoping that the quicker it went in, the quicker you would wake up, being able to function with Gladius.
âLetâs go sleepyâ Gladius shouted âBefore the others wake upâ
âergh, fine!â You groaned again, setting off with Gladius.
As the two of you were jogging, Gladius was taking it easy on you, staying by your side for the whole way down the forest trail
âYou know. I heard everything last nightâ Gladius stated, looking at you for a moment before keeping his eyes back on the trail âeverythingâ

âIggy isnât one to talk about his feelings like that, I am shocked he actually told youâ
 âIâŚâ You panted a little, before slowing down âWhatâŚâ âLook, [Y/N] we have all known each other for a long time now, since we were all kids, we knew one day we would be going on this little adventure the five of us, no one expected, any feelings to be involved between any of us, especially Iggyâ He continued, stopping next to you âI know you well, I know Iggy well⌠Justâ He paused for a moment âHe needs something⌠someone to keep himself in control you know?â

âIggy is always looking after us, for once, he should look after himself, but the truth is he wonât because itâs his duty to stand by the Prince, like us. However he has to be there through thick and thin, while I, protect him⌠You and Prompto are his school friends, you are in a different situation, however⌠we are all equals hereâ He smiled, smacking your back hard with a thud âYou will get time in Altissia together I am sure, once the wedding is over and done withâ
âIâŚâ You were speechless at what Gladius had said
âBut we will not talk about this. This is between you and meâ he sounded serious, you nodded in agreement ânow lets head down here. Letâs go!â he started running again, you watched him for a moment before running after him.
 Later in the day, Cor gathered us at camp, he looked stern, like he was about to lecture the lot of us on our tardiness. âYou must make your way to Altissia another wayâ He stated âHead to Lestallum, meet up with Iris, Jared is also there Gladiusâ Everyone stood still, listening carefully to Corâs words âIf you need me, call me. I will come to you. However now you must start to gather the collect the weapons from the Lucian kings, you must continue to do this, itâs your duty as the King. I will be doing as I was asked, helping the people of Lucisâ
âI understandâ Noctis responded
âBe safe Marshalâ Noctis and the others walked away leaving you along with your father
âBe safeâ he patted your shoulder âCall me if you need meâ âYou donât pick upâ You reminded him of yesterday in your panic
âBut I will. Just promise me you wonât go doing anything stupidâ
âYouâ He laughed âYou are one to talk young ladyâ He pulled you closer
âMy daughter, be safe on the roadâ He kissed your forehead while no one was looking then moved away.
âWhen this is over, you will be able to rest. I am sorry such a burden has fallen on you now, protect Noctis with everythingâ
âWith my lifeâ
âI hope it doesnât get to thatâ He sighed âThis is your family now, look after each other like they are your brothers, because they are your brothers in armsâ
âOkay dadâŚâ
âCollect the royal arms and go to Altissia, there you can rest while the wedding is underway, after, you can come back, we can solve the problems of Insomnia from thereâ
âyes dadâŚâ You felt lectured slightly by your father at this moment. âAnything else on the list?â
âDonât you dare, get yourself killed.â He finished, he ruffled your hair before walking over to Noctis for one last chat. You stood there for a moment, as the sun started to set.
âWhat did dad say?â you heard Prompto from behind
âDonât dieâ you laughed âdonât let those boys ruin your life!â you joked. Prompto laughed and scratched the back of his head
âyou know, you sleep too late!â he sighed âI was awake when you came in last night and you still woke up before me!â Prompto sounded concerned, you sighed and messed his hair
âDonât you worry!â You smiled âtonight Iâll be in bed before you, im exhausted after running around all morning!â
âYou betterâ Prompto stated âor I will have to drag you!â He laughed âBesides you and Gladius are the bodies which keep me warm!â He smiled.
A moment later you watched as Cor said his goodbyes to Noctis, he turned and smiled at you Cor waved his goodbyes to us before departing, leaving you alone with the four boys again.
âSo⌠what now?â Prompto asked
âWe, are going on a tour of all the royal tombsâ Noctis responded, pulling out a map âthen we head to Altissiaâ You looked up to see Ignis, watching you, maybe this was a habit of his, watching you as the group discussed plans however you felt a warmth in your heart, knowing that Ignis, cared.
âhey! We should go ride some chocobos too!â Prompto yelped excitedly âI love chocobos!â
âit is completely up to the princeâ Ignis burst his bubble
âI am sure we will have timeâ Noctis responded.
âWell for now, itâs time to sleep, tomorrow we start off our new quest. To retrieve the royal armsâ Gladius stated, before leaving to the tent.
You all followed followed by Noctis and Prompto, you laid down, wrapping yourself in the sleeping bag. As you closed your eyes, you felt a soft pair of lips kiss your forehead âgoodnightâ You heard a whisper. Your mind was too dazed to respond, or even open your eyes as you slowly fell asleep.

A few nights past, you and the boys had done some hunting to save up a little bit of money for the journey ahead, plus Dinoâs so-called boat had not come, so the five of you had been stranded still. Staying in a hotel room was more than blissful for you as you rolled over, covered by soft blankets and in a warm bed. You were blissfully unaware of the time, the sun shining slightly through the crack in the curtains of the hotel room. You had been paired with Prompto and Ignis in a room, however there was a connecting door to the bedroom of Gladius and Noctis. You stirred, before slowly opening your eyes, adjusting to the light. You could hear the seas waves from your room, bringing you into a peaceful state of awakening for the first time in a while after sleeping in a tent with four other men. Slowly you started to stretch up, sitting up slowly, to find you were not the first one awake. Ignis had already left the room. Prompto was stretched out in his bed, sleeping peacefully.
You decided to get up, trying not to make any noise, to let the poor boy sleep a little longer. You felt a little weird, for a moment you felt weak at the knees, ignoring it, you headed into the little room next to the bedrooms, to find a hot cup of coffee, with no drinker.
âI wonder where he went?â you sighed to yourself, watching the steam rise from the coffee âhe isnât usually absent for longâŚâ You wondered out further, towards the mother of pearl restaurant in Galdin Quay. You spotted Ignis, with the newspaper standing, frozen⌠starring at the front page. You watched him for a moment before he looked up. He quickly approached you.

âHm? Is everything okay?â
âInsomnia has fallenâ
âWhat?!â your words seemed louder than you thought, a few staff members turned looking at you. Ignis covered your mouth with his leather gloved hand
âDonât make it obviousâ he continued âWe have to plan ahead; the king has been found dead.â Your eyes widened, your mouth still covered by Ignis, he looked into your eyes âAnd aboutâŚâ You looked at him, your eyes widened âI havenât heard from anyoneâŚâ He lowered his hand from your mouth
âCorâŚâ You looked down before quickly looking back to ignis âIâm sorry⌠wasnât your Uncle an adviser to King Regis?â Your voice weak âI havenât heard anything fromâŚâ He looked down
âI should not worryâ He sighed âHopefully CorâŚâ
âIâm sure he is still probably fighting his way throughâ You looked at the floor, your heart sinking thinking about the idea that Cor could be dead. You sighed, holding your arms together. A cold chill danced down your spine.
âI am afraid of something else tooâ Ignis looked into your eyes, looking for a light of hope⌠there was none âYour powers⌠they were shared with the King, there may be a chance you haveâŚâ
âLost them⌠I knowâ You sighed â I can summon my weapon still⌠I know that, but no more warping or magic for meâ You looked straight ahead
You looked down to the floor for a moment, biting your lip, trying not to give into the tears yet. âWe need to tell NoctisâŚâ Ignis looked down
âThis wonât be easyâ
âHis father just died⌠none of this will be easy for himâ You both turned around to head back to the room
âGods help usâŚâ You sighed, as Ignis unlocked the door
âWhatâs that look for?â Noctis questioned, as the two of you walked into the room together. Ignis holding the newspaper tight in his hand Gladius raised a hand to take the newspaper from Ignis
âitâs in all the papersâ Ignis stated, you stood behind him, by the door, staring at the floor knowing that Noctis was about to get the worst news. You didnât know how to prepare for this. Gladius walked towards the window, Prompto looked over to see the headline on the paper
âInsomniaâŚ. Falls?â Prompto slowly read.
âWhat!â Noctisâ face went pale, his mouth wide open, looking at each of us âis this your idea of a joke?!â His shock turned to anger
âNoctis⌠I..â you looked up at him, looking into his eyes.
âI need you to calm down so I can explainâ Ignis stated, stern and stiff.
âIâm as calm as Iâm gonna getâ Noctis stormed towards Ignis, who looked at Noctis with sorrow in his eyes.
âThere was an attackâ He paused âthe imperial army, has taken the crown cityâ
âas treaty room tempers flared. Blasts lit the night sky and the smoke about the Citadel had clearedâŚâ Gladius paused for a second âThe kingâŚ. Was foundâŚdeadâ
âNo⌠Wait⌠Hold onâ
âWe had no way of knowingâ Ignis walked round Noctis âWhat!â Â Noctis shouted back âKnowing what!â
âthat the signing was last night⌠that Insomniaâ
âBut the wedding! Altissia!â
âI know that was the plan yet the reports of the invasion are all the same, how could every headline in the kingdom be wrongâ
âLiesâŚâ Noctis muttered under his breath, biting his lip a little. His eyes watering
âIf onlyâŚâ Prompto whispered.
âWhat else do we know?â Gladius asked, looking back at Ignis. Who shook his head.
âWell then we canât be sure until we see it with our own eyesâ
âAnd that means we go back to Insomniaâ Prompto added, looking to his best friend

âIt might not be safe for us hereâ Prompto raised his voice a little, looking to Ignis.
âTurn back?â Gladius asked, everyone looked at Noctis, who was sitting in the chair, his thoughts rushing through his mind.
âyeahâŚâ The boys all headed into the bedrooms to pack up their things, you stayed, looking at Noctis
âIâmâŚ.soâ
â[Y/N] is there any other reason why you were chosen to come with us?â He looked up at me âDid my father tell you somethingâ
âno⌠Cor was the one who suggested I came along, because I was a friend and I am a Kingsglaive after all⌠I guess for extra protection along the wayâ
âI seeâŚâ He looked down at his hands, which were becoming tenser as he thought about what had happened âYou⌠heard from Cor?â
ânoâŚâ You sighed âI havenâtâ
âI hope⌠he is okayâ Noctis tried to sound calm, however his voice cracked
âNoctis, save your strength, there is going to be a harder road for you to take now, but we are here for you⌠through it allâ
âThanksâŚâ He muttered âI just canât believeâŚâ He got up from the chair âHe didnât evenâŚâ
âI doubt he wanted to tell you anything⌠just before you leftâŚâ
âTell me honestly⌠did no one say anything to you?â
âno⌠not even Cor mentioned anything to me before we leftâ You sighed âBut maybe⌠could they have kept it from me⌠knowing I would be going with you?â
âthat wouldnât surprise meâ You thought back to being around the others, most of them from Galahd. They had opened their arms to you, being one of the first to join rank from Insomnia however they also understood what position your father held within the military. You had left, not knowing their plans for the treaty signing, they had kept it extremely hushed from you. Probably because you were going to be going with the Prince.
âNoctis⌠if you need to talkâŚâ with a weak voice you put your hand on his shoulder, he raised his hand, placing it on yours
âThanksâŚ.â The others soon appeared, you looked out the window as the sun shined down on the sea.
âletâs move outâ Ignis sighed, holding two bags, you reached over to take one, but he moved away, not allowing you to carry anything. You huffed a little, before opening the door for him and Gladius. Prompto was behind, not holding anything, but instead, was walking along side Noctis.
âBack home we goâ Prompto cried out, trying to sound a little more cheerful, however failing as his voice cracked. âLets get going nowâŚâ
Before you got into the car, you pulled out your phone, flicking through your contacts to find Cor. Your heart pounded in your chest as you walked towards the car, sliding into your seat. It was ringing⌠that was a good sign âŚringing⌠âŚringingâŚ. *Click*
Nothing. You sighed, closing your eyes for a moment. Biting your lip, trying not to show any sort of emotion, not after the news Noctis had got.
You reached the gates to Insomnia, now heavily guarded at the entrance. The sun had been hidden by grey clouds as rain started to fall slowly from the sky. You raised your hood a little however the rain felt nice on your face. âLets make our way down hereâ Ignis stated, pointing to a path leading down another way. The five of you jumped out the car, heading down the path, luckily avoiding any guards along the way. You found your way to a cliffside, overlooking the bridge towards the city, smoke rising.
âNoâŚâ Noctis muttered as he laid eyes on what had become of the city âitâŚâ âTurn the radio onâ you turned to Prompto, who nodded, pulling out his phone.
âAs the ceasefire discussions between the two nations, all provisional terms have been suspended in light of recent developments. More over in the wake of the news of King Regisâs death, weâve now received word that Crown Prince Noctis and the Oracle Lunafreya have also been pronounced dead.â Prompto sighed, about to turn off the radio, looking bothered by the news he had just heard on the radio.
âKeep it onâ Gladius ordered, Prompto looked flushed, his body stiff. He dropped his phone in a panic, I tried helping him, as he started to shake more.
âDonât bother!â Noctis shouted. Ignis reached down and passed Prompto his phone, the two of the now squatting on the floor as magitek crafts flew past us in countless numbers towards the city. Noctis put his phone to his ear, you looked over to him wondering who he was trying to ring
âHelloâŚ.Cor?â  Your heart stopped. Had he got through to your father before you did? Had your father not picked up for the reason he was waiting for Noctis to?
âWhat the hellâs going on?â Noctis asked. You couldnât hear what Cor was saying, but you felt a weight lift from your heart, knowing Cor was alive.
âOutside the city, with no way back inâ He started to pace âMakes sense? Are you serious? What about any of this makes sense?! The news just told me Iâm dead â along with my father and Lunaâ Noctis paused for a moment, as Cor was explaining something to him. Noctisâ face turned pale. His body limp
ârightâŚâ He put the phone down, and stared at the city
âwhat did the Marshal⌠have to say?â Ignis asked, stepping forward towards Noctis
âsaid heâd be in Hammerhead, then the tombsâ
âand the king?â Gladius asked. Noctis didnât respond, he looked down for a moment, the rain falling on his face.
âWe should goâŚâ Ignis responded calmly. âI am sure someone else here, wants to return to Cor immediatelyâ
âIâŚ.â You muttered, not caring about yourself as your heart ached for Noctis, losing everything he knew in a single day
âWe should⌠goâ Noctis agreed turning around, you stood there awkwardly. You were the lucky one here, not losing your family members at all, Cor was alive, your home may of gone but Noctis⌠Ignis, Gladius and Prompto had lost their childhood homes, families⌠everything.
As you reached the tomb, you saw a figure, all in black. You wanted to run to him, you felt your eyes watering, knowing Cor was alive, made you feel stronger for the first time today, Cor was alive, and for that you were grateful. Even though he wasnât your real father, he was in fact still your family, and you loved him for being there for you, every step of the way. Â
âMarshalâ Ignis acknowledged Cor
âAt last, your Highnessâ Cor responded, he looked at you for a moment before turning back to NoctisâŚ. Which left you feeling slightly annoyed.
âYeah, wanna tell me what Iâm here for?â Noctis responded, sounding pissed off.
âThe power of kings, passed from the old to the new through the bonding of souls. One such soul lies before you. To claim your forebearsâ power is your birth right and duty as kingâ
âMy duty as King of what?â
âNow is not the time to question your calling. A king is sworn to protect his peopleâ
âAnd yet he chose to protect only one prince was that his calling? Forsake the masses to spare his own son?â
âHow long will you remain the protected? The king entrusted the role of protector to youâ
âEntrusted it to me? Then why didnât he tell me that? Why did he stand there smiling as I left⌠whyâŚâ Noctis started to tense up, his hand grabbing the side of the table on which the tomb laid âwhy did he lie to me?â
âThat day, he didnât want you to remember him as the king, in what time you had left, he wanted to be your father. He always had faith in you, that when the time came, you would ascend for the sake of your peopleâ âGuess he left me no choiceâ Noctis raised his hand, and with a blinding light a sword appeared in front of us, slowly rising higher, before he turned, impaling Noctis, but as we looked, nothing had harmed him, instead he stood there, for a momentâŚ
âThe power of kings goes with you, your majestyâ Cor smiled.
As you all headed off, the four boys rushed ahead to sit up camp, leaving you alone with Cor finally for the first time. You walked ahead of him, your head lowered, feeling a little annoyed that Cor had not contacted you, that he had answered Noctis before his own daughter. Maybe it was a little selfish of you to do, but you wanted to make a point to him. Cor had known about what was going to happen, and he had not even said goodbye, if the worst had happened, you would of never of seen or spoken to him again. Thinking of this, a tear trickled down your cheek, you felt hopeless, knees weak. You stopped in your track, the sun slowly starting to hide behind the horizon.
â[Y/N]âŚâ Cor reached out for you, his hand touching your shoulder
âDadâŚâ Your voice was weak, lips quivering as you felt your emotions taking over. He turned you around and pulled you into his arms, you hadnât felt his embrace for a long time, not since the first few weeks of being in this world, where you cried yourself to sleep missing home, when he would hold you just for a moment to calm you. He smelt like death and destruction, his body felt tense, his muscles shaking a little after so much running and fighting.
âIâm sorryâ He whispered into your ear âI am so sorryâ âwhyâŚâ You sobbed a little âWhy didnât you tell me⌠I could of lost youâ
âI couldnât⌠I couldnât risk losing youâ He pulled you away, wiping a tear from your cheek
âYou are all I have, all I have to show for my life⌠I could risk losingâŚâ You looked into his eyes You couldnât speak, your words couldnât find themselves.
âIâm here now, I wonât leave you in the dark again, I promiseâ He brushed his fingers through your hair âYou are strong, even now. I can see it. For you are a Leonis, you are my daughter, youâŚâ He paused for a moment
âAh, just in time for food!â Prompto waved you down as you reached camp, Cor tapped you on the head, before you both joined the group. The six of you sat round the fire, talking about Insomnia and our memories of our home for a while, all the time, Ignis⌠couldnât keep his eyes off of you, neither could another member of the partyâŚ. But you didnât seem to notice them looking.
As everyone set off into the tent to sleep, you sat washing the dishes âcan we⌠discuss something?â You heard a voice from behind.

You felt the sea breeze warm your face, you blinked as the suns light reached your face, your eyes heavy after a short nap in the back of the car, your head rested on Gladiusâ arm. âmorningâ Gladius cooed âWe are hereâ He pointed over towards the horizon. You saw the sea in the distance and you smiled
âwow⌠itâs beautifulâ You squealed âIâve never seen the sea like this beforeâ
âLike this before?â Prompto turned and looked at you âeh?â âIâŚâ You paused for a moment. Maybe I had never left Insomnia in this world âI only saw it⌠in photosâ You lied. âItâs so blueâ
âgood for fishing eh Noctâ Gladius added âWe should get some done while we are hereâ
âIf we have timeâ Ignis added âWe should get on the earliest boatâ
âerghhhhh!â Prompto sighed âbut this boys gotta eat!â You laughed.
 Reaching the parking lot, the five of you all jumped out, running over to the beach.
âwoah!â Prompto smiled, âletâs get a photo!â He shouted, pulling out his camera and tripod. âWe have to!â
âfine!â Noctis sighed. The five of your posed, your shoulders being used as shoulder rests by Prompto and Gladius. You were shorter than Noctis so no wonder, you were the chosen shoulder rest for many of the photos.
âThatâs a keeperâ Ignis smiled, as Prompto showed it to us. âPhotos, make it easier for us to remember moments like thisâ you smiled. Thinking about how you couldnât even remember your brotherâs name anymore, thatâs if you had a brother⌠or was it a sister? You sighed, feeling a little empty for a moment before you looked up to notice the boys had already started walking down the pier. You ran after them.
âCommon!â Prompto laughed, turning around to see you catching up to them. You slowed down, reaching Prompto. Looking around, the place was beautiful. Your eyes caught the shimming water as the suns light reflected from it
âwe should go fishing while we are hereâ Gladius suggested
âThen... Iggy can cook us dinner!â Prompto interrupted âA good mealâ He looked off into the distance, his hand on his stomach.
âWelcome to Gladin Quay!â The staff at the entrance bowed as we walked past. Completely ignoring him we continued past. There was a strange man standing by the stairs. I clocked onto him as he turned to look at us, grinning a little as he set his eyes on Noctis.
âIâm afraid youâre out of luckâ A mysterious man said, dressed in a weird way, his hair was a reddish brown, his aura was⌠strange.
âAre we?â Replied Noctis.
âThe boats bring you hereâ
âWhat about them?â Prompto nervous asked, standing behind Gladius who already looked annoyed. Â Prompto was turning red, nervous about this strangerâs interruption into his morning, making him jumpy.
âWell⌠theyâll not take you forthâ
âAnd whatâs your storyâ Gladius added. Stepping towards the man
âIâm an impatient traveller, reading to turn shipâ The stranger started to walk through the group, you stood there, staring at the man, wondering what he was going on about âThe ceasefires getting us nowhereâ He turned and flicked a coin towards Noct, who flinched, luckily with Gladiusâ quick reaction response caught it before it hit Noctis in the face. Opening his hand in front of Noctis, he looked at the sliver coin in his hand
âWhatâs this? Some sort of souvenir?â
âahh they make those?!â Prompto innocently questioned, coming back into the conversation. You stood by him, wondering if he was being serious⌠then you remembered it was Prompto.
âWhat? Noâ Noctis was quick to respond.
âConsider it your allowanceâ The man said, raising his hand to Noctis.
âYeah and whoâs allowing us?â Gladius walked in front of Noctis, shielding him from the man with no name.
âA man of no consequenceâ He stretched out his arms before spinning round and leaving us be.
You all looked at each other, dumbfounded.
âand⌠that was?â You asked, scratching the back of your head âweird? If not creepyâ
âDo you think he knew who he was?â Prompto suggested, raising one hand into the air
âOf course, who doesnât know himâ Gladius interrupted âHeâs the PrinceâŚâ
âThere was mention of the ceasefire, a reference to the Empire and Luciiâ Ignis chimed in. âWe should keep an eye on him, he may appear again, he took an interest in youâ He was facing Noctis, whose eyes were locked on the mysterious man, walking down the pier. âFor now, letâs see if the boats have really been put to a halt, this will change plans for us⌠if he was correctâ
Ignis took the lead, leaving yourself and the others to follow. Â The restaurant was turning out delicious smelling foods by the minute, to the travellers who were not going anywhere so it seemed. Prompto was eyeing it all up as we walked past, knowing he wasnât going to be eating any of this. Ignis headed down the stairs to the port, the four of us following. âOut of service indeedâ Ignis sighed.
âAccording to my sources, the empire, giving strict orders not to let any vessels leave the docks of Altissiaâ A voice called out from behind us. Noctis turned to see a young man with grey hair, sitting in the shade of the dock. It was almost like he was waiting for us to appear, he was very comfortable sitting there, his legs crossed. âReal shame if you were late to your own wedding⌠Right Prince Noctis? Nameâs Dino by the way. Pleasureâ He smirked.
âhe⌠he knows?â Prompto muttered to you. Shrugging in response you stepped closer.
âWhat do you want?â Gladius stepped in front of you, stopping you from doing any damage.
âI need you to do something for me.â Dino smiled âDo this for me, and your ship will come into dock⌠if not I will tell all the papers in Eos that Prince Noctis is out and about, heading to Altissiaâ You sighed, knowing that he had just twisted his way into us doing his dirty work. âGive me your mapâ He held out his hand, Noctis passed it over, pulling out a marker, he circled an area close by âHere, you gonna find my stone. Bring it to me and you will have a ship to Altissia and your bride Prince.â He smirked again passing back the map. You rolled your eyes. Walking away from Dino.
The five of you headed off. You watched as the boys started pointing to random cliff tops. Looking for the said area with the stones which Dino needed.
âItâs there!â you said pointing upwards, noticing a dark shadow
âI think itâs this wayâ Gladius said, pointing the complete opposite way
âMaybe here?â
âItâs there!â You whined, saying it louder this time.
âI think itâs there!â Ignis pointed in the same direction as you, after noticing you had been pointing and stating the correct direction for five minutes.
âI think you are right Ignisâ Prompto tapped the well-dressed manâs arm âThatâs why you are here!â
âerghâ You muttered under your breath, heading up the rocky side of the cliff. The five of you reached the top, to find a giant, sleeping bird blocking most of the way round the cliff side
âWhat the hell is that?!â Prompto cried out, jumping back âIf we are quiet, we will go past undetectedâ Ignis whispered âOr we can kill itâ Gladius added
âNo!â You turned to him âSneak past, get the stones, run for itâ You looked at Ignis, waiting for him to acknowledge that you had been correct. Prompto grabbed onto your arm, shaking a little. As you all started to walk around the giant birdsâ body, Noctis spotted the stones, shimmering in the sun light
âThere!â Noctis shouted, before quickly slamming his hands over his mouth. There was a loud breath before you heard the cry from the bird. It stretched up, showing its almighty wingspan, spreading its two sets of wings out fully. The five of you stood there, slightly in awe as Prompto started to get extremely jumpy, screaming a little
âGet downâ Gladius ordered Noctis
âholy sh...â Prompto shouted, falling to the floor
â[Y/N]! Be careful!â You heard, before being slammed to the floor, nearly being brushed up against the claws of the bird as it started to take off.
âahâ You opened your eyes to find Ignis covering your body with his own. You looked into his eyes, they were an emerald green. Covered by the thin sheets of glass. You could feel his heart thumping in his chest as his body was extremely close to yours, his breath warming your cheek.
âAre you alright?â He muttered, not moving for a moment âYes⌠thankyouâ you smiled, trying to make the already awkward situation, less awkward. Ignis, laying on top of you still, looked into your eyes before he cleared his throat, pushing himself up and off of you. You laid there for a moment longer, feeling awkward and tense after that small moment.
âIs everyone alright?â Ignis asked, looking around. Prompto was on the floor, bent down with his hands over his head, while Noctis and Gladius stood there, watching the bird flying away. âWell done Noctâ Gladius teased, smacking his back with a loud thud.
âI thought we were done for!â Prompto cried out, looking up from the floor âis it gone?â
âlong gone nowâ Ignis responded, he glanced at you, as you sat up from the floor âmy apologizesâ he reached his hand out for you, taking it he pulled you up back onto your feet.
âThanksâ You said brushing yourself off.
âLetâs take these dam stones back to that Dino guyâ Gladius stated, starting to make his way back the way we came.
You followed slowly behind, looking at Ignis from behind. You had never felt so awkward around him, you had never been so close to him either. He smelt like ebony, your heart pounded a little thinking about it. Ignis, went out of his way to make sure you were okay⌠not Noctis. You. Why did he even do that⌠Prompto turned to you, his face red from being flustered.
âYou okay?â He questioned, maybe he had spotted your moment of thought, spacing out for a moment as you reached the car
âHmm?â You looked up at him
âAfter that bird⌠good thing Iggy got you down! Or you would have been bird feed!â He smiled, his redness slowly fading
âYeah⌠I canât thank him enoughâ Your eyes found themselves fixed on Ignis at this moment, as he opened the car door. You followed suit, sitting between Noctis and Gladius for the short journey back. You tried to keep your eyes fixed on your knees for the time being however you caught yourself glimpsing up at Ignis.
âNight fishing Noct?â Gladius asked âGood weather for itâ âsure, why not. We are in no rush nowâ He sighed.
As Gladius and Noctis went to go fish, you sat at the side of the hill, watching them walk away towards the pier.
âI think Iâm going to go too!â Prompto called out â[Y/N] coming?â
âI think I will stay here for nowâ You responded. Looking back to Prompto, holding onto his camera âI may join you laterâ waving him down. He waved, running off towards the pier too. You watched the clouds slowly moving across the night sky. It was warm, the air felt soothing on your skin. You looked down to see Prompto chasing after the other two, waving his arm around. Laughing a little you felt warmth in your heart.
âI want to apologise for earlierâ You heard Ignis behind you, âmay I?â You nodded, in the corner of your eye you saw Ignis take a seat next to you. âYou knew the direction to the stone; your map skills are impeccable. I should have made your voice heardâ
âItâs okay Ignisâ You smiled, glancing up at him âAt least one of you didâ laughing a little
âThat is trueâ
âThankyou Ignis, for earlier⌠I could have been birdfeed if it hadnât been for you, saving meâ
âmy pleasureâ He looked into your eyes â[Y/N]âŚâ âIgnisâŚâ âYou know, I always admired you, from the moment you appeared in my lifeâ
âhm?â Your eyebrows raised, Ignis had suddenly changed his tone.
âWell, lets be completely honest [Y/N]â He paused for a moment âWe never had the time to bond, unlike yourself and Prompto. Gladius and myself. But I want to get to know you more, as this trip goes on.â
âyeah⌠we shouldâ you sighed âWe never had the timeâŚYou were always looking after NoctisâŚâ
âYou were trainingâŚâ He looked into your eyes âand, I do want more to life, I just canât have that. Because of the family I was born into. I am destined to serve Noctis till the day I dieâ

âYou asked me that once, I was angry with myself for not standing my ground, answering your question⌠but I also felt angry that I was in this positionâ
âI shouldnât of asked in the first placeâ You paused âMaybe I was annoyed with myself, for all my teenage years, it was always about training to be a Kingsglaive, no one ever saw anything else. "wasn't she just wonderful" Prompto said, laying on the floor, while the rest of you set up for camp "She just... wow, her way with cars"
"Are you still talking about Cindy?" You asked, looking over at him, holding the chairs "Seriously?"
"She's out of my league... but we have so much in common" "Like what?" You responded, trying not to laugh. "That you are both blonde?"
"er..." Prompto paused for a moment. Gladius kicked him again and sighed "Hey!"
"Move" Gladius said, holding the cooker. "Unless you don't want to eat"
"Huh... Oh!" Prompto looked up to see Ignis holding a bag of groceries, he quickly rolled over and up onto his feet.
"Sorry" he mumbled. You felt sorry for Prompto, he had expressed his feelings towards how he saw himself in the group. Out of all of us, he was the friend of Noctis, not a professionally trained soldier like the rest of us in some way. However for the most part, we had all been in Noctis' life, which to you meant that it was more important than our job roles. Prompto watched as Ignis got to work, before settling in a chair next to Noctis and playing in their phones. Gladius sat next to the fire poking it with a stick, while Ignis cut up all sorts of vegetables by the cooker.
"Need help?" You asked and Ignis turned to look at you
"I am quite alright for the moment thankyou [Y/N]" He responded. You felt slightly useless.
"You know... when this is all over, I will go back to Hammerhead" Prompto smiled, putting down his phone
"and do what?" Noctis asked.
"Maybe I'll buy a car, she can fix it up!" Prompto responded "Surely we can make some money while we are on the way" "Uh huh" Gladius added "And what else could you offer the girl?"
"You never know" You smiled "Maybe Prompto won't need to do anything to impress her" You looked over at Prompto "Don't listen to them, what do they know about women anyway!" You laughed, you heard Ignis let out a little snigger, which was rare for him.
"Thankyou!" Prompto smiled "see! Maybe I am charming enough!"
"I wouldn't go that far..." Noctis cracked up, everyone started to smile and laugh. Prompto smiled, knowing that one day he would return to Cindy.
The boys all went to make the tent, leaving you to sit around and let you rest for a while. It was their way of trying to show that they were strong men, which you knew anyway, but they liked to show they could do other things than just drive, push a car and kill a few beasts, although you had been the one to kill tonight's dinner. You sat, watching the sun slowly make its way down the sky.
Although you knew you didn't belong in this world, it was still a shock to you that you were here, living a life which you hadn't done before. With magic and daemons, it was worrying that you had even survived so far. You wondered about your own world, what was happening with your family and friends, if they missed you. You found yourself curling up and holding onto your knees. You missed home dearly. Everyday. But some aspects of it you had started to forget. You couldn't remember exactly who everyone was in your life, you only seemed to remember your families faces. Was being in this world erasing the memories of your past life? You were so ingrained in your thoughts you hadn't noticed Ignis staring at you for a moment, wondering what on earth was going through your head to make you tear up, while curled together.
After dinner, the boys all retired to the tent, leaving just yourself and Ignis outside, as you washed the dishes with the bucket of water Gladius had carried over, Ignis was sitting in the chair near you, writing in his little black book. You sighed, you were exhausted after pushing the car for hours, to have to go off on a hunt for monsters and some dude called Dave before some genius (Ignis of course) had suggested then to settle down for the night.
"is everything okay?" You heard his calming voice from behind you "You seemed perplexed earlier"
"huh?" You looked around at him "I'm fine"
"hmm, it seems you were a little upset" He responded. You frowned at him "Tired? Leave the dishes and get some sleep"
"I'm fine" You lied, you didn't want to seem like a baby next to Ignis who was always the first up and the last down. "You should..."
"You know, we never really have been able to talk" Ignis sighed, closing his book and slipping it into his jacket pocket "[Y/N] I am glad you came"
"Thanks..." You smiled awkwardly
"I know it must be strange, being the only woman to join us, but you are more than needed for this trip. A Kingsglaive by our side make us stronger"
"Thanks.." You responded. You knew this too well thanks to Cor, constantly reminded you of the honour you had to be going with Noctis to Altissia. You were sometimes convinced he put you through the Kingsglaive just to make sure you were sent on a Royal mission... just like he did with King Regis when he was much younger. "But I am not just a Kingsglaive, that's all I have been seen as all this time, Cor's daughter the young Kingsglaive! Like I have nothing else about me which is of any importance or that anyone cares. No one ever sees me for more than just that." You paused for a moment, closing your eyes and realising what you had just said, may of seemed out of turn.
"That is your concern?"
"No..." You turned to face him completely "There is a lot more to it, but that doesn't matter now, it's all been left in Insomnia" You smiled, "I have to focus on the task at hand now"
"Yes, we must make sure we get to Altissia soon"
Of course, in your head, you were trying to remember details of your past life which was fading from you, everything you knew seemed to be changing, you remembered more from this life than your last. Maybe this is why babies cry when they are born... because it is when they start forgetting their past life and start anew. You knew there was no way of getting back now, you were here for good, hopefully for longer than your first.
"You should get some rest" Ignis calmly said, standing up "I will follow soon, we have a long day tomorrow and we don't know when we will be able to rest next"
"Okay..." You said, you felt a little embarrassed around Ignis, although he was only a few years older, his maturity was that of a father. He was always caring for Noctis and now he had three other babies to care for... yourself, Prompto and Gladius. What a life to live...
You climbed carefully into the tent, stepping over an already sleeping Gladius to find your place next to Prompto, and an empty spot for Ignis. You laid your head down on the pillow and turned to look at Prompto, who had passed out a long time ago. You knew if it hadn't been for him, your life here would have been a lot different, he didn't even comment on how much you had changed, instead according to Cor, he wanted to spend even more time with you because of this new 'personality' You closed your eyes before Ignis even joined the four of you in the tent.

Four years past, your reality had become normal for you, living out your days a lot easier than the beginning of your time here, although you had confused most of the close friends and family you had, acting âstrangeâ or âhaving a complete personality changeâ but they seemed to like you a lot more for it⌠Maybe you had been a good change for this body you had taken over.
Apart from that you had become the youngest member of the Kingsglaive. At the age of 18 you had become one of their newest and finest members. Of course, Cor couldnât have been happier to see his little girl be such a brilliant warrior, just like he was.
âHey [Y/N]âŚâ you heard Prompto from behind you, standing outside the Citadel, wondering what on earth was about to happen. âAny signs of the others?â
âNoâŚâ you sighed, wondering where the others had got to. âAre you sure⌠I should be coming?â
âKing Regis himself asked for you!â Prompto started âClearly he trusts you to come along, besides what else could be more fun?â
âerâŚâ You looked around, knowing you were about to go on a journey with four grown adult men.
âOkay, donât answer that!â Prompto laughed. As you started to laugh along with him, a car pulled up. Out of it came, GladiusâŚ
He had become a sparring partner during your training days, now and then joining Noctis for training, teaching him how to fight properly. He had a tall strong man with thick brown hair, a scar across his face from the time you had all been out and Noctis had got into a fight. He opened the door and out came Noctis, looking around not really showing any sort of emotions. Ignis came out from the passengerâs seat⌠Now Ignis had been the last of the four you had met. He was basically the mother to Noctis, he did everything for him⌠Which in your eyes just showed how lazy Noctis really was, but how patient Ignis must have been to be always at his side with no complaints⌠well in front of everyone that is.  Finally Cor appeared from the drivers seat, he smiled when he saw you and nodded, acknowledging that you had finally âmadeâ it in his eyes.
âSorry for the latenessâ Ignis said âTraffic seems awfully busy todayâ The five of you started on up, to meet with the King.
      âSet forth with my blessing Prince Noctisâ
âThankyou... Your Majestyâ Noctis responded, bowing to his father. The four of you stood behind him, his friends and guardsmen.
âTake your leave, and the in the grace of the gods.â âRight...â Noctis turned and walked away, without a single bye to his father, the four of you looked at him pass, before looking dumbfounded at each other. You all quickly bowed to King Regis and turned to follow the Prince.
As you all started on the stairs down to the Regalia, you all heard Drautos shouting for Noctis, you turned to see the King, making his way down the stairs towards you. He was weaker than you remember, it had been a while since you had found myself in front of the King, he was getting old, relying more on his walking stick than before. You understood why Noctis had so much anger towards his father, the two of them never really got a lot of time to spend together, in fact Ignis was more of a father figure most of the time.
âWhat now?â Noctis mumbled and walked back up, towards his father.
âI fear I have left too much unsaidâ King Regis said, in a warmer tone than before in the throne room. âYou place a great burden on those who would bear with youâ King Regis continued, Noctis turned to walk down with him, the two of them side by side
âHa⌠Youâre one to talkâ Noctis responded King Regis turned to us, looking each of us in the eyes
âI ask not that you guide my wayward son. Merely that you remain at his sideâ Ignis was the first to bow, accepting his duties. The rest of us quickly followed him. Bowing down. This was the usual case, especially for you and Prompto who were not use to being in front of royalty⌠as you didnât really count Noctis as a royal after all.
The four of us walked down towards the car, leaving Noctis behind with his father for a moment. âYou have to be brave nowâ Cor said to you, placing his hand on your shoulder âCome back in one piece you hear!â
âyes.. fatherâ you mumbled.
For the four years you had been stuck in this place, Cor had grown on you. Although he had been extremely strict on you, making you train every day, making sure you studied, that you were at school⌠he had shown how much he had cared for you, even if you werenât the daughter he had known before you had shown up in this world. You probably would have been completely lost without him. It was nice to have someone like Cor around during this time. You missed your own parents dearly, something about having Cor made being homesick for your own world that little bit easier for you.
âI mean it, donât go looking for trouble out there.â He looked at you in the eyes â[Y/N] be safe out thereâ He sighed âProtect the Prince of course but look after yourselfâ
âWe will look after her!â Prompto butted in âSheâs with us⌠I mean look at the big guy!â He pointed at Gladius and smiled.
âThis is why I am worriedâ Cor sighed, looking at Prompto. â[Y/N] keep me updated.â He smiled. He patted you on the shoulder and started to walk towards the stairs. âYou donât know what is out there.â
âI got itâŚâ You smiled âStay safe, avoid danger and donât listen to the boysâ
âExactly.â Cor smirked âI taught you wellâ
âwell, see you soon Dadâ You smiled, holding his hand for a moment, looking into his eyes.
âStand with pride my girl, I will see you soonâ Cor nodded, smiling a little. You felt like he was showing his emotions more than usual on this day, you squeeze his hand, as he wasnât the hugging type, he never did it in public that was for sure âWhen you are back⌠there will be a lot to talk aboutâ Cor ended, letting go of your hand as he looked towards the stairs.
Noctis came running down the stairs
âLets get out of hereâ Noctis sighed, getting into the car. You followed, then Gladius. You realised you had probably got the worst seat, squished between these two. The skinny blonde Prompto jumped in the front with Ignis. You looked at him, shocked that out of everyone he would be up front with Ignis.
âRight, We are offâ Ignis said, turning the key, the five of you all settled down, for the journey ahead.
 There was a weird sound from the engine and suddenly it began to slow down.
âWhatâŚâ Prompto blurted out. You opened your eyes to find yourself not so far outside of Insomnia by the looks of things, instead of moving however⌠the car had completely stopped.
âIâm afraid we may have some problems with the carâ Ignis said, pushing his glasses up his nose. Â Gladius got out and started to look around the car.
âThe nearest garage is not too farâ Ignis said
âWe may be able to hitch a rideâ
âitâs so hotâŚâ Noctis moaned
âDitch the jacketâ Gladius responded sharply. Prompto got out the car and started to walk round to the back
âLooks like we are pushing her to the garageâ he continued, touching the rear
â[Y/N] commonâ Gladius looked at you, your eyes widened âgreatâŚâ You muttered getting out the car. Noctis sat there, hoping Gladius would be easy on him
âYou too Princeâ There was a loud groan from Noctis as he stretched âNow Noctâ Gladius was stern, you had never been able to even dare speak like that with him, even though you had been at school together. Noctis got out the car and followed you round.
âIâll stay in here, some one has to steer the carâ Ignis said, placing his gloved hands on the wheel.
âLuckyâŚâ Prompto muttered, you giggled. The three of you started pushing, hoping that the car would magically start to work with a little push⌠You were wrong.
 An hour must have passed, Prompto found himself on the floor, sprawled out like a starfish. Noctis next to him, his head in his hand. You stood there, waiting for cars to drive past with Gladius while Ignis had his head on the wheel.
âA carâ You shouted, Gladius stuck his thumb out, the car drove straight past you all.
âI think we can forget about hitching our way thereâŚâ Gladius sighed,
âThought people were friendly outside the cityâ
âYou can only go so far on the kindness of strangersâ Ignis responded, raising his head from the wheel. He had a red mark across his forehead from were he had been positioned âJust gonna have to push her all the wayâ
âIâve already pushed myself⌠to the brink of deathâ Prompto whined from the floor.
âGet upâ Gladius said kicking Noctis, followed by a kick for Prompto. He looked at you, knowing his attitude, you did not complain, you placed your hands on the back of the car, and positioned yourself to push once again, the others went back to their position and you all started pushing.
âLetâs hope this isnât some Omenâ Gladius grunted
âGladio, do me a favour⌠push this thing by yourselfâ Noctis joked
âYou wonât even notice if we just let goâŚâ Prompto added.
âPrompto donât even think about itâ He looked over at you, sweat dripping down your forehead.
âSave your breath for pushingâ Ignis added
âAh⌠the car is so hotâŚâ You sighed under your breath âwhy did it have to be blackâ The sun had made the body of the car extremely hot, you looked at Ignis, who had gloved on, wishing you had also brought a pair along. Instead you were sporting the Kingsglaive uniform, in this boiling heat.

âHey, [Y/N] I heard you are going to start training to be a Kingslaive?â Prompto asked as you walked down the corridor of your school one afternoon âTo be able to do that⌠wow you are crazyâ
âCorâŚâ You muttered, before correcting yourself âDad wants me toâ You sighed looking at the blonde haired boy âSaid it will do me goodâ
âeh⌠Being all tough like him?â
âI guessâŚâ You sighed, pulling up your bags strap back onto your shoulder.
âWhat are you two doing?â You heard a voice behind you, both of you turned to find Noctis, standing there, with a small following of girls behind him, all squealing âTalking about me?â
âOf courseâ Prompto laughed â[Y/N] is joining the Kingslaive, did you hear?â
âYeah⌠I didâ He said, joining us, the three of you continued walking down the corridor to head out into the city streets âMaybe you can beat up Gladius for meâ
âGladius?â Prompto asked âThat big tough guy? Ah⌠na!â He laughed, he placed his hand on my shoulder and smiled â[Y/N] is going to be amazing!â He grinned.
âDonât get your hopes upâ You laughed âI am surely no Gladiusâ
âMore like a Promptoâ Noctis mumbled
âHey!â Prompto blurted.
Later that night you and Prompto found yourself alone, walking down towards the local cafĂŠ the two of you would spend time together at. He looked a little down, so you were dragging him along, plus knowing his parents⌠they probably werenât home. Prompto spent a lot of his time away from us⌠alone. So, you made a point to spend more time with him, plus then you didnât have to deal with the bossiness of Cor.
âWhats up?â You asked, looking at Prompto with concern âYou went quiet back thereâ
âItâs nothingâ Prompto responded. Resting his head in his hand.
âUhâŚ.â
âWhat?â
âEver since that discussion about the Kingslaive and being a solider you have been a little offâ
âItâs just⌠Noctis is surrounded by people who are strong, built to fight and protect him⌠and theres me⌠What do I do?"
âYou are his friend Promptoâ You responded, reaching out your hand âFriends mean more than anyoneâŚâ
âI justâŚâ He sighed. Prompto was a little anxious sometimes. âWhen I was younger, I had no one⌠I would go home, eat, look through photos I had taken and sleep. It wasnât untilâŚâ He looked out the window âI received a letter, from Lunafreya, stating I must be a âgood friendâ of Noctis.â
âShe knew you were friends?â
âNot thenâŚâ He laughed âI was a lot different back thenâŚâ Scratching the back of his head âA lot!â
âHow?â Questioning the boy in front of you, more curious than ever.
âI was⌠bigâ He sighed, looking down at the table, picking up the teaspoon and stirring his coffee slowly
âIs that it?â You smiled âSo was I!â You thought back to being a little girl at school, being laughed at for being a little rounder than the others âBut look, you look great Prompto! Donât let the past get you down, if you look at the past you miss the things in the presentâ You suddenly thought about your own words, its true you should of also done the same, at this point now, even only a few months into your new life, you felt like this was the new world you would spend the rest of your life in, not knowing if it was even possible to go back to the world you knew before.
âeh⌠you? Like Cor would allow that!â
âA kid has to eat!â You laughed. Prompto smiled,
âThanks... [Y/N]â He looked up at you âI never thought Iâd even talk about it, even for a momentâŚâ He paused for a moment âI feel comfortable around you, maybe itâs because we are both just normal people⌠surrounded by the likes of Noctis⌠Gladius and even Ignis too, Noct chose to be friends with us, I donât know why though, I didnât do anything special, maybe it was because I didnât treat him like he was royaltyâ He smiled a little thinking back at the moment he approached Noct on the first day of high school âThen you came along, you fitted right in with us, before then I never really had many friends, if any⌠now I find myself shocked that I even have twoâ
Prompto chugged the last of his coffee and got up âletâs go!â He smiled, like nothing had even crossed his mind âPlus, tests are coming up⌠might actually have to studyâ He laughed.
Prompto smiled all the way home, knowing that he felt wanted, even just for a moment. He laid on his bed, flicking through photos he had taken from that day. Happy, even though he was alone.
Sadly, the day wasnât over for you as your apartment was opposite Noctisâ apartment, this was because King Regis wanted someone nearby to be there, just in case the Prince could be in danger, meaning you could see his apartment windows into his living room through yours. Sometimes you would bump into Ignis on his way in or out of his apartment, after probably cleaning, cooking or lecturing Noctis on his awful lifestyle choices.
Ignis and yourself didnât really speak that much, you would smile and wave, make small talk but that was about it.
Knowing Cor wasnât home tonight, you walked towards the convenience store at the corner of the street.
âHello [Y/N]â You heard a calming voice behind you âWhat are you doing here?â
âLooking for dinnerâ You groaned, turning to look at Ignis who had a basket full of fresh goods⌠obviously for the Prince âCor isnât home soâŚâ
âI seeâ He said, looking past me, eyeing up the salad products âExcuse meâ He sidestepped next to you and reached up for the lettuce âYou are more than welcome to join us, of course I am sure Noctis wouldnât mindâ
âItâs Okayâ You smiled, looking around the store feeling slightly uncomfortable âI have to study, our tests are coming up this weekâ
âAh⌠I seeâ
âMaybe next timeâŚâ You stuttered âThanks againâ You picked up a ramen bowl and a pre-made salad and started to head away from Ignis
âCongratulations by the wayâ Ignis called out âFor getting accepted into the Kingslaive program. I am sure Cor is very proudâ
âThanksâŚâ You muttered âI guess itâs an honourâŚâ
You sat at home, looking through the notes on your phone, looking over what you had written about Ignis⌠You took a large bite of lettuce covered in some random sauce, before deleting the note completely to rewrite it
Ignis; babysitter and mother of Noctis. Too formal.
As you clicked back, you noticed the note about Prompto, it was still the same from before, it just had a friend with a question mark, you hadnât updated it as you had found so many other people who needed to be noted, you smiled before you deleted it, typing a new one for him.

You smiled to yourself a little, Prompto had really made this life easier for you. Maybe it was his attitude and personality but today you felt a little closer to making his place home

Part One
Life is always a mystery, as humans we do not know what is going to happen in the future and what fate has in store for us. Itâs the reality we live in, we play games to escape the real world, dive our heads into worlds which we could never truly go to, however much we wished for it. Thatâs just how the world works sadly. But what if fate had something waiting for us⌠which was completely unexpected and unbelievable⌠If what we really saw was fiction, that there was something greater out there... waiting for us.
You were walking down the road, listening to one of the many philosophy audio-books which your friend had brought (without you knowing) on your audible account, sighing you didnât really believe most of it. Your head was firmly out of the clouds for the most part.
âI canât believe she brought all theseâŚâ You sighed to yourself as you headed down the road towards school âI trusted her...â
In reality you knew you couldnât do much, the two of you were the only friendship each other had. You chuckled to yourself a little knowing in only a couple of minutes you would be laughing about the nonsense which you had listened to on the way to school. For that you couldnât even feel anger towards her, instead your compassion showed as usual.
Laughing to yourself you started to cross the road⌠without looking.
There was a loud crash heard from the school yard, as students ran out of the gates to see what had happened, your friend stood there, staring, as she saw her best friend lying on the ground, a pool of blood expanding across the road. Your phone was in your hand, headphones tangled in your hairâŚ
Fate can have a cruel way of showing itself, we donât always have an extremely lucky life, it can be hard and painful⌠but once the pain has gone, your own reality can be completely changed in a single heartbeat.
â[Y/N]â you heard faintly â[Y/N] itâs time for school!â
Opening your eyes, you looked around, this wasnât where you remembered being the last time you were awake, in fact⌠nothing looked familiar, including the large figure hanging over you.
âHmmm?â You grumbled rubbing your eyes wondering if you were having a lucid dream.
âGet up!â The man by your bed shook you slightly âYou are going to embarrass everyoneâ You shot up, realising this wasnât home, nor was the man in front of you someone you knew.
âWhat the fu..â you moaned, stretching your arms out wide, hearing a loud click as your spine stretched out
âLanguage!â The man snapped. Focusing on his face, you didnât know this man. He had short brown hair, sharp blue eyes and his facial expressions were sharp and unwelcoming to say the least.
âWhereâŚam I?â You asked, looking at the man, confused.
The last thing you remembered was walking across the road to get to school, before, everything had gone dark⌠What had happened?
âEos, Insomnia, in your room, in my houseâ The man responded
âInsomnia?â it sounded like you were in a lucid dream with a name like that for this so-called world you were now finding yourself in. âHuh?â
âHave you completely forgotten everything? Did you get into a fight and bash your head against the wall?â
âEh⌠I...â
âTrust it to be mine, out of everyoneâŚTo lose a fight!â
âI didnât get in a fightâ You muttered back âIt was worse than thatâŚâ You started to think back, how on earth did you get here⌠but it made no sense. Your head started to hurt, throbbing with pain.
âah⌠my headâ
âwhere you out with those dam boys again?â The man hissed âI told Regis... Noctis and Prompto are not going to be a good influence on you... that you should leave school and join the Kingsglaive nowâ
âWho⌠what⌠wait what?â
The man walked over to the table where a set of clothes laid neatly piled, obviously for you.
âput these on and be downstairs in 10 minutesâ he commanded.
Shocked you did as the man said, rushing out of bed as soon as he closed the door behind him. After putting on the long baggy vest, shorts and boots you took a glimpse out the windowâŚ
Your heart stopped.
This wasnât home, nor was it earth, thatâs for sure.
âwhere the hellâŚâ You started to look around the room for clues of your whereabouts and who the man was who had awoken you so rudely this morning. You found a photo by your bed, picking it up and looking closer it was of you and this man. âhe must be of some importance to meâŚâ You sighed âBut I donât know who he isâŚâ You thought back to the last moment you remembered before waking up in this nightmare.
You remembered the road, the audiobook⌠the loudâŚ
You dropped the photo from your hand, the frame making a loud crashing noise. Your eyes wide, a drop of sweat dripped down from your hairline âIâŚdied?â
Your knees felt weak, your body shaking. âI⌠Canât go home..â For a moment you froze on the spot. Not really knowing what to do, then you realised, if you were dead, there was no going back, this world was now your home and for once you felt lucky that that hadnât been the end.
You heard a noise coming from under the pillow, you moved closer to discover your phone,
âPrompto..?â You muttered âThat man had mentioned himâŚâ You quickly picked up the phone, holding it closely to your ear.
âHey! [Y/N]! Where are you?!â A loud voice was heard from the other end, he sounded excited, his voice higher pitched. âWe are here!â
âIâm⌠in my roomâ
âWhat?! Did Cor not drag your ass out of bed?!â He laughed, then you heard another voice from his end of the phone, You couldnât work out what he had said âhurry up!â
âah⌠yeahâ You sighed as he put the phone down.
You opened up a note on your phone, and quickly wrote in
- Cor; May be dad? Grumpy, clearly known for being an arsehole
- Prompto: Friend?
Closing it quickly you rushed out the door started to look around, trying to find Cor in this apartment.
âThere you areâ You heard Cor say âSo⌠did you think about my suggestion?â
âhuh?â
âabout starting training with the Kingsglaive, you had always expressed you wanted to join, follow in your old mans steps and be part of the militaryâ
