This is an excerpt of a grant deed. It is real.Ā
I see this kind of thing all the time. Itās in grant deeds, HOA rules, CCRs... Thankfully, itās not legal or enforceable because of things like the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Housing Act, and state laws like Californiaās Unruh Civil Rights Act.Ā
Itās still there, though. Ā Isnāt it? A little reminder of what things were like not that long ago, and this is from liberal Los Angeles.Ā Iām sure thereās worse and more recent elsewhere.Ā
Anyway, hereās what Iām getting at: To many of us, this what it means to ātake backā, to make āgreat againā. Ā It is to regress to a status quo in which this nationās founding principlesāthe self-evident truths that everyone is created equal and endowed with unalienable rights like life, liberty and the pursuit of happinessādidnāt apply to us. Ā It didnāt matter if we obeyed the law or somehow got rich. Ā People like us were treated as something less than human.
See, you canāt go back without running into this stuff. For a free people, there is only forward.
