This look is bright, bold and creative. Items of clothing that work well with this style are neon colours, mesh tops, funky belts, combat trousers and a leather jacket.

Fortunately, these high-end looks can be recreated with a low budget by purchasing faux furs, satin look-a-likes and sequin bling (minus the diamonds).

Alexander McQueen- Designed by Sarah Burton // AW20

This collection is heavily made up of tailored suits and dresses filled with tulle. Common colour themes throughout are red, black and white similar to the style of the ‘Queen Of Hearts’ from beloved Alice In Wonderland.

Looking closely, you can see this theme being further explored with embellishments of butterflies, crows, lambs and other creatures representative of Welsh Folklore.

Inspired by the strength and heroism displayed by traditional Welsh women, empowerment to women around the world was a key message in this collection. As were the bold colours and fierceness of the models.

Alexander McQueen // Pre-AW20

The delicate embellishments and placement of sequins in this new collection by Alexander McQueen is exquisite. 

A mixture of materials such as gold, copper and silver add a fierce elegance to both the models and the design, making for a beautiful new line from this house.  Yet again, they cannot be tamed, get ready to be dazzled as we enter the world of Alexander McQueen.

Whilst the designs above are more nature-based, you can see the architectural theme shine through in the designs below, particularly with the use of molten metals. 

The inspiration was drawn from natural landscapes, nature and British art nouveau (decorative art in architecture). Here are some pictures to give insight into the context of the designs and what British art nouveau is. The images below are vintage and have whimsical elements to them...

Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2020 Women’s Ready-to-Wear

This ready to wear collection was a celebration of Jacquemus’ 10 year anniversary. 

A mixture of both bright and pastel colours helps to balance out this vibrant overload, especially with the purple lavender fields as a background to this runway. 

As a ready-to-wear collection we should expect to see ‘wearable’ items, and he has certainly provided. Clients are at no shortage of denim jackets, blazers and trousers, all suitable for spring/summer wear, the perfect edition to your wardrobe. Though an expensive one. 

In spite of this, I do feel the collection is borderline ‘high street’ and the only value for money is the quality and hidden label. You won’t be getting a status boost from this unfortunately.

Erdem Spring 2020 Collection

This collection is by Erdem Moralioglu. Once again, he has produced a selection of modest dresses with vintage patterns and florals. 

But we can all agree that the mixture of bright and dark colours works well to add an element of ‘seduction’ and interest to the designs.This was a necessary move, particularly with the massive bulk of fabric that he is playing with.

The collection is dangerously close to being consuming and overly covered up, but I feel the unique elements keep it from going under. Opinions?

Givenchy Spring 2011 Haute Couture Collection - By Riccardo Tisci

This incredible collection came from the fashion house of Givenchy and was designed by Riccardo Tesci.

Inspiration for this collection was heavily based around anime and Japanese culture. The inclusion of structure and geometric patterns are similar to that of origami. As well as referencing anime robots, an item that Riccardo had a fascination with as a child.

Valentino Haute Couture 2015

This collection by Valentino contains large amounts of white tulle and organza to create weightless and liquid-like movement, the fabric loosely fitting and effortless. An angelic and ethereal take on modern classy fashion, something unusual for the brand. 

Perhaps some aspects of these designs can be seen in high street fashion such as the trumpet / lantern sleeve and organza skirts, which by the way, are in.

Guo Pei Spring 2020 Couture

This collection by designer Guo Pei was inspired by the Himalayas. A holy place, home to the Temple Of The Soul and the Gods. It is a stunning portrayal of the divine and spirit.

The shape and silhouette of these pieces drawing ideas from Tibetan garments and the famous kimono.

A bit about Guo Pei.

Guo Pei is a Chinese fashion designer known for her unique designs , silhouettes and prestigious clients such as royalty and the politically elite . She even dressed celebrity Rihanna for the 2015 Met Ball.

ERMANNO SCERVINO FALL WINTER 2020 WOMEN’S COLLECTION – MILAN FASHION WEEK

This collection shows a variety of fabrics and a cross between both formal and casual wear. We have examples of: leather, fur, organza, lace, velvet, denim, wool and cotton based fabrics.

The tailoring of the suits and jackets are very well done, the belt assisting to enhance the silhouette of the design. Leopard print and interesting patterns help to bring life to this seemingly simple collection, which is desperately needed in order to add an artistic touch.

Opinions so far-  Its good, but could be better.
