heyy i’m new to kingsman fandom and i was wondering on what grounds people ship lancelot and percival, like where does that come from 😭
I'm gonna be honest...
I have no idea.
My guess is that Lancelot seemed like an extremely fun character who just had too much potential to get killed off and be forgotten like that, so people started including him in fanworks and mapped out his personality more and more simply for funsies.
Then there is this random ah background character who is the mentor of one of the main characters who even got a name assigned to him (Percival) and who, on top of that, also received a close up of his face in a scene (when Harry put his glasses on for the meeting after Lancelots passing). Non of the other agents/knights at the table have a name assigned to them (at least by verbal communication) or get a close up shot (as far as I remember), so people in the fandom probably also leeched onto him simply for funsies.
And because people like to ship and it's rather convenient that James was supposably seated right next to Percival at the table, people just started shipping them.
They also simply make for a fun dynamic.
We can tell James is a bit extra and flamboyant from his short introduction (or more like outrodction) in the movie, while Percival seems to be more of a serious stoic type of guy.
Just think of James annoying the heck out of Percival while they are in a meeting or well... just on every other occasion, really.
They are the total opposite of each other, and that's exactly what makes them so shipable.
I mean it's funny, no? James seems like the last person Percival would choose as a friend, mission partner, let alone lover. That's just ridiculous, right? RIGHT!?
Everyone would be in SHOOK.
"How would YOU know James came home late after his mission in Newcastle?"
"It's because we share a flat and a bed, Harry."
"You WHAT?"
"..."
"WHAT!?"
"Good day, Harry"
"......WHAT!?"
It's fun.
I like fun.
Then there is the fact that every main character of the movie is already part of a major ship ig? So maybe people just needed a character they could ship with James. And instead of creating some sort of oc they just went "Hey what about that uh... uh what was his name again? Oh yeah Percival. What about Percival?"
So yeah....
I honestly have no idea.
Someone just started it and people followed along.
And now it's the best fucking ship on the entire planet WHOOOP
